I can honestly say this is one of the nicest , care homes we visited on making the right choice for our mum . We no longer have to worry about mum we know she is in good hands and is very well looked after most importantly safe . The staff are like one big family nothing is ever to much trouble , Always kindly greet you at reception when you come into the care home . All the carers are so lovely and kind They all work so hard in making all the residents Happy and comfortable. I think Ashlyn are so lucky to have such amazing team . In the last few months the care Home has been beautifully decorated. Well done to the fantastic manager it looks wonderful. Thankyou to you all , Receptionist, office staff, Activities ,Cleaners , cook s ,chef .carers . You all do amazing job
I found contact with the home poor, told one thing that complicated issues when asked. Food to much for residents lot of waste money could be saved there! Clothes have issues lost, names put in clothes don't go to right persons a bit of a muddle going on in the launderette. Otherwise ok.
Our mum has been a resident at Ashlyns for nearly a year now. The whole of the team have been amazing since she arrived, kind, incredible friendly, patient and respectful. The home is always spotless, with fresh flowers making it feel like home from home. Communication with families is excellent. The activities team do an amazing job getting everyone involved. The chef makes sure they all have a great choice of dishes available. As a family we cannot fault Ashlyns for our own peace of mind we know she is safe and well looked after and happy.
Absolutely awful. My husband suffered kidney failure, sepsis and pneumonia whilst on respite care. When he came ack to the home I went to visit. One day his clothes, face and hands were covered in food. I asked the person in charge to sort this, she said "I haven't been in the lounge today so I haven't seen him." Final day he was there he was still in bed at 10am with a catheter full to bursting! I was told staff were "too busy" to empty the bag. My husband has only just been discharged from the hospital. The photos on the website look wonderful but all the time I was there, residents were just left in front of the TV. I saw very little in the way of engaging activities.
Coming from the experience that I had with my dad's care home in Enfield, I wasn't expecting much. And I'd also been informed that this was the cheapest of the care homes in Harlow, and that I should try to avoid it. Well, let me tell you, they were all wrong. The home is fresh, nicely decorated and clean. Pictures of residents on their coloured room doors is a lovely touch, as are the multiple visual and sensory additions that I never expected to see on walls and hanging from ceilings. There are all sorts of interesting things to see and do throughout the home and everybody - even the cleaning staff - all acknowledge you with a happy 'hello' without fail. Mum's care, although too brief, was exemplary and attentive, and her passing was handled with respect. I can't fault the building, care received or staff. Highly recommended.
When my mother-in-law, Peg, was admitted to Ashlyn care home - a move we had no real choice in - we were a bit worried that it may not be suitable as word of mouth led us to believe there were better places out there. But there was no need to worry, as it was a lovely place for her to stay even though it was very brief. All staff were friendly and tried their best to get to know Peg and do all they could for her to make her comfortable. The home is clean and interesting, with lots for residents to do and I have no problem with giving it my seal of approval.
I have been very impressed with the care that's been given to my brother. The staff are always very attentive and helpful in all that they do, as is the manager. All in all, a very well run care home.
After the most stressful year looking after my cousin who is only 62, the relief of knowing he is now safe, very well cared for and most importantly happy is a huge relief for everyone. We wasn't sure how it would work out but with help from the staff my cousin is now settled in his new home , we have made his room his own, nothing is too much trouble when I've asked. He was very reliant on me with 60 or more calls a day even with seeing him daily , no more. Ashlyn's is perfect for him, very clean, he loves the food and he is no longer lonely at any time . All the staff are very helpful, the managers door is always open which for me is a must . I understand that some days he may not be as happy but I know that having the care staff around 24,7 , will help with any worries he has.
My mum has been a resident here for the last year. She always feels safe and happy. She loves the activities every day and will be in the lounge from first thing in the morning until bed time. My mum is very sociable and has made friends with other residents. The staff are amazing and my mum has nothing but praise and affection for them. Her general health has improved so much from being in Ashlyn's and she is so much stronger than when she first moved in last year. As her daughter I couldn't ask for anything more than seeing my mum so happy living here & knowing she is safe
I can tell you in less than 200 words. Ashyln Care Home, in my opinion, is the best; it has turned itself around in the last few months. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I feel that it is the little things that they do that make it so special; they deserve a better rating than good.
This home is amazing, my mum is safe, looked after so well. The staff care so much, and work so hard. This place takes away my stress as I know how well looked after my mum is. It is a home from home just as it should be
We couldn't be more grateful for the exceptional care our loved one has received at Ashlyns. From the moment we first visited, we were welcomed with kindness, professionalism, and genuine compassion. The staff go above and beyond-not only meeting physical needs, but also offering emotional support and companionship. The atmosphere is always clean, comfortable, and homely. There's a real sense of community here, with engaging activities, freshly prepared meals, and a team that truly treats residents like family. Communication with the family is excellent; we are always kept informed and involved. It gives us peace of mind to know our loved one is in such capable and caring hands. Thank you to everyone at Ashlyns for the dignity, respect, and love you show every day.
The staff at Ashlyn are kind, friendly and attention to helping my mum is fantastic. They are also very friendly to the family members which make us feel reasured that my mum is being looked after as best she can be. I have no worries about mum living there, so i can relax and have i have a peace of mind when I go on holiday. Ashlyns feels like a home and mum and the family feel like we are part of the Ashlyns family.
I'm not a resident of Ashlyn Care home but our friend is and from the visits I've made over the last month, all of the staff appear to be dedicated to their work and are always friendly, thoroughly professional and willing to help residents and visitors in any way they can. Even with my limited experience from what I've seen, the care the residents receive is outstanding and I would recommend Ashlyn to anyone in need of a care home.
My father went into Ashlyn Care Home initially for respite but he is now due to become a permanent resident, he has dementia and all the staff look after him very well. They are caring and professional and nothing seems too much trouble for them. My father has started to eat much better since being in the home and he has made some real connections with the staff, which is wonderful.
I've always found the staff friendly and obliging. Nothing ever a problem. My relative is very happy in there. Great work by all, if I ever know anyone that need a care home I would always recommend ashlyn.
My aunt has lived at Ashlyn house for 18 months, she was quite poorly when she arrived from hospital, but with wonderful care from exceptional staff she is thriving, and today celebrated her 100th birthday, to say the staff and community went above and beyond today was an understatement, all we can say is a massive thank you to everyone, bringing our aunt here was the best decision we've made
As always I have enjoyed my stay here. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The food choices could be better.
My mother came to Ashlyn's for one week's respite. When I was visiting and researching a home for her, I was immediately struck by how friendly all the staff were, how well they seemed to know their residents and interacted with them/ When my mum came for her respite, there was initially a problem with the bed, but it was sorted out immediately, and the staff were amazing. The manager, deputy manager and receptionists all spoke to me and made sure I was happy. They were so helpful and friendly.
I am overall happy with my mum's care, but on occasions as she is immobile she has to wait to go to the bathroom, which I find frustrating. I think there should be more carers and equipment in the home. The ones who are there are brilliant. Sadly, a lot of carers have left, which is a great shame. Also more tea and coffee should be provided.
