View Full Details of Spring GroveThere is a positive and friendly atmosphere at Spring Grove and the management and staff are welcoming and and caring. The room was comfortable, nicely decorated and in the newly refurbished floor of the building. The food and snacks were all good and the sherry before the meal was a nice touch. The sense of company at the home is a real positive with a variety of other residents to talk to. The entertainment that was provided was also varied and enjoyable.
Spring Grove is a great place for post-operative, respite care.. The overall impression is of a friendly, caring atmosphere with a Team who are proactive and thoughtful in responding to each resident's needs The public rooms are light and bright , the meals and snacks freshly prepared and there is a good range of activities and entertainment. Everyone made sure I was comfortable, my medicine plan was managed well and my visitors were welcomed.
Here for only 2 weeks, very satisfied with support and care. Felt very well looked after. Food well cooked, plenty full and varied. Room spacious and comfortable. Would choose as a care home it became very necessary.
I have lived in Spring Grove since 2010 and have never had any complaint.
The management and staff are welcoming, friendly and caring to residents and visitors. The home is comfortable, well furnished and decorated. The service of snacks and drinks between meals is good and generous. The food at meals is good quality, good choice, well cooked and just fails sometimes on delivery from kitchen to table e.g. soggy chips. The medical support is very good - doctors, nurses etc. The entertainment is varied and enjoyable.
Excellent - I have not had any problems. The staff on the whole, are great.
My mother spent the last fifteen months of her life at Spring Grove, and I am extremely grateful to the carers and everyone involved in running the home for what turned out to be a genuinely happy time for her. She wasn't keen on moving there. She had lived independently at home until she was 93, but following a fall she reluctantly agreed to move to a home. She discovered she really liked it. She was no longer anxious about managing on her own and was able to relax and enjoy the last part of her life. She was extremely well cared for, in terms of health, personal care, and nutrition. But more than that, for at least a year was able to join in the daily activities which brought her fun and stimulation. She developed excellent relationships with her carers and blossomed in a way that I would not have thought possible. When her health failed in the final weeks of her life the staff bent over backwards to allow us to spend our last time with her. A truly exceptional Care Home.
Our mother spent the last fifteen months of her life in Spring Grove and we couldn't have been happier with the way she was cared for - as an individual. At the end when she was failing all the staff went out of their way to make things easier for us. Saying goodbye to them after she had left us really felt like saying goodbye to friends. I'll miss them. When we first started looking for a place for her we visited several homes and Spring Grove really stood out from the rest. You won't find residents staring vacantly at the TV for hours. For those who want to join in activities, there is plenty of variety. There's news, art projects, exercise classes - my mum was amazingly good (for a 94-year-old) at keeping a ball in the air and loved boxing (imaginary opponents)! Both care staff and admin staff are great at interacting with the residents which is so important for making it feel like a real home. If staying in the family home is no longer an option, you can't do better than Spring Grove.
Mum lived at Spring Grove for about 9 months before she passed away and I am extremely grateful for the care she received. Spring Grove was recommended by Mum's GP and, whilst it may not be the shiniest care home compared to others, it is incredibly well run and the care Mum received was amazing. The staff are deeply committed, kind, hard-working, understanding, and compassionate and they work together as a team and communicate well with each other. Mum's key worker was lovely and the staff are completely consistent e.g. we never saw agency staff, which means they really got to know Mum and her family. Family and friends who visited Mum consistently commented on the kindness and care they observed. Communication with our family was excellent, and we were incredibly touched that two members of staff very kindly came to Mum's funeral. We are hugely grateful to everyone at Spring Grove for their care and kindness and recommend Spring Grove without hesitation.
My mother was fortunate enough to be cared for at Spring Grove from early 2024 until her death, peacefully, in November 2024. We looked at many homes - with some trepidation (because it is so hard to evaluate a home - to make a decision based on wallpaper, room views, etc when all that you really want to find out is whether kindness is on offer). I cannot speak highly enough of the staff - their endless patience (coaxing her to eat or drink when Alzheimer's had destroyed the interest in either), hard work and compassion. Despite shyness, she was gently persuaded (other than when it was beyond her) to join other residents for activities (rather than retreat to her room) and it clearly did her good. The staff gained her trust and affection (no mean feat, when any zest for life has drained away and their job was to sustain her nonetheless). She, and the family, are tremendously grateful - and, should the time come, I can only hope I will be looked after half as well.
Mum lived at Spring Grove for three and a half years until she recently peacefully passed away, I cannot thank the staff for the wonderful care she received in her very happy home. Mum had ongoing care needs due to the progression of Parkinson's Disease and dementia, she was supported superbly and made to feel at home from day one. With regular doctor's visits, a very high standard of clinical care, and fabulous carers, for whom, nothing was ever too much trouble. Mum thoroughly enjoyed all the entertainment and activities provided in the lounge. Mum always had regular hair appointments which she was able to continue enjoying at Spring Grove. Mum enjoyed the great menus and the regular supply of tea and biscuits, the staff were so patient, always supporting her when she became too frail to drink without assistance. I spent Mum's last days with her and it was wonderful to see the very loving care she received, I will never forget the kindness and support I received at this difficult time.
Both my sister and I are happy that Dad is being cared for by such wonderful people who take pride in caring for others. It is fantastic and I would happily stay here myself.
My aunt lived at Spring Grove for five years until her peaceful passing earlier this year, and I could not be more grateful for the care she received there. She took to the place instantly, having previously visited friends there, and was made part of the community from day one. The staff I got to know - many of whom were there throughout the five years - were kind, skilled, compassionate and incredibly hard-working, and communication with me as next of kin about her ups and downs was excellent throughout. I have another close relative in a different care home that is newer, shinier and smarter, but the 'feel' just isn't as warm or homely as at Spring Grove - they have really got something right in their culture of care. The end, when it inevitably came, was managed with great kindness, understanding and helpfulness too. I am hugely grateful to everyone at the home.
I am very happy that we found Spring Grove for my mum, where she is cared for well and the team seems really lovely. It has obviously been a hard decision and a tough road to get here: this was not the old age Mum wanted. That said, I found them very helpful in understanding the process of getting Mum in. They were kind to her, making sure that she wanted to move. I felt that they understood her situation better than I did and that she would be in good hands there. Mum has been a resident of Spring Grove for a year now. She enjoys daily visits from her beloved family and dear friends. Her room is peaceful, and the lift access to the large garden is much appreciated for fresh air and change of scene. The activities team provide a fun calendar of events and activities, and the manager is always responsive, friendly, and kind. The team seem happy - this makes a difference. Care packages are reviewed twice a year, so prices do increase. Worth knowing.
As the LPA of a resident (2019) aged c. 98 with dementia, I can vouch for his well-being over 5 years. The cheerfulness of the staff who care for him is aptly symbolized by the welcome at the front desk always given to me when I visit. Thank you to the manager and your highly professional team.
I can’t overstate the warm welcome and excellent care given to my partner during his 3-week respite stay in April. The staff here are well trained, know exactly what is expected of them and always deliver with a smile. Our only disappointment was a lack of opportunity to exercise in the fresh air due to garden landscaping work being carried out at the time.
Spring Grove has cared for our very elderly colleague and friend for four years now and he is happy and well looked after by the team. The home is a very welcoming place to visit and the staff are always very helpful.
I cannot praise Spring Grove enough. From my husband's two periods of respite care through to his longer stay until his death 2 weeks ago he was wonderfully looked after. He wasn't always the easiest person, but sometimes he was, and all the carers responded to him with love and dignity and a huge amount of patience. I don't know how they manage it, but they do. I visited my husband daily so I was able to observe and see how wonderful the care was. An odd thing to say, but I'm missing my visits to Spring Grove and chats with all the carers and my talking with the other residents. I loved the informality, but knowing that a careful eye was always present. I sincerely hope the staff get all the support that they deserve.
When we needed to find a care home for my father at short notice last year, a friend recommended Spring Grove, based on her positive experience. Ever since, we have been impressed by and grateful for the professional, responsive and caring team, as well as the home's warm and active atmosphere and the attention to residents' well-being in all aspects of day-to-day life. My father says the staff are consistently kind and patient, which we have also observed, and they know him as an individual, respecting and responding to his preferences. In our experience, all residents are treated with dignity, respect and warmth. The day-to-day care is excellent, including management of health issues, meals and nutrition, and attention to the environment. The activities offered are varied, thoughtfully delivered, and tailored to residents' interests. Communication with us is very good, with telephone updates whenever anything changes, and I feel I can raise any concerns or questions at any time.
My mum, who has dementia, has been a resident at Spring Grove since March 2023. The staff have been so lovely and patient looking after her. And I'm so delighted that many of the staff members have been at the care home since March, giving Mum the chance to form relationships. I think you all do an amazing job! There is always a smiling face when I come to visit. Spring Grove always keeps us informed about how Mum is, and they have an excellent GP who visits once a week. They work hard to try to get Mum to join in with the activities. Thank you for all your excellent care.
