View Full Details of The Hollies Care CentreI have no negatives about The Hollies. Very kind and caring, easy to talk to, and they listen to what you have to say. Beautiful setting, excellent food, rooms and staff, especially the carers and nurses, are very caring, happy and do a wonderful job. Highly Recommend. 5 stars.
From the initial meeting with The Hollies to discuss the needs and care for our mum, to her passing, I cannot praise the staff enough. The level of care and understanding was outstanding, any issues, i.e. medical care etc., were explained on every occasion, all the staff were friendly and made time to talk to you. We cannot give enough praise to The Hollies.
My nonagenarian uncle was admitted to The Hollies, two years ago. He is mentally and physically well for his age, but requires round the clock, 24/7 medical & nursing attention. In all functions of the care home the level of care & management have been amazing; the nursing staff give day in day out cheerful, professional and consistent high standards of care. The decision making and service levels with various medical emergencies have been spot on. The management of the his residency and evolving care needs have been exceptional from day one. It is one of the very best Care Homes I have seen. A testament to what is possible by a group of professional carers. I fully recommend it.
The Hollies has a lovely feel. Nice facilities. Friendly staff. Excellent nursing and good activities. I have found communication good. Staff treat each resident as an individual & cater for their individual likes/dislikes etc.
My mum has been a resident at the Hollies for about four months and if she had any complaints I would certainly hear about them, as we speak very regularly and she is not shy of giving her opinions. Altogether, I have been very impressed. Her room and the shared quarters are kept extremely clean; the staff are kind and efficient; and there are all sorts of entertainments, including painting and craftwork, for her to get involved in - and regular concerts, which she loves. I could also mention a number of personal touches - which I won't as they are very much excessive to requirements. In short, she is enjoying her time there. Lucky mum. I hope I live somewhere similar when the time comes.
Having your mother want to give up her beautiful home to go into a care home made me the saddest and helpless daughter to my mum and I felt I had let her down . Being disabled myself I was unable to care for her but I did try . After many months of crying feeling lonely it was her decision and hers alone to go into a care home . We tried respite at another home but after visiting The Hollies my sister and I did not even tell her we had visited I prayed we could get her in there but felt helpless It was the manager and her social worker who arranged it . The administrator did all the paperwork and she was given a place she now calls home . There is nothing I can fault at The Hollies and to see her smile again and her fitness levels are so much better . To sum up the 5star care home My mother now calls her home is such a relief to me . I love the staff like family and thank them for all they do for her . So so grateful all xxxxx.
This is a very nice care home where my mother has been well looked after for over a year now. She suffers from Dementia and is also unable to walk following an accident where she shattered her femur. The staff are all very efficient and friendly and the facilities are second to none. The place does not smell of urine which afflicts many other care homes. Recommended
My mother has been living here for 4 months, the room's are excellent, the staff are wonderful. She is very happy there, she gets involved with many activities, living abroad it is good to know she is taken care of by great staff.
Our mum has been a resident for a few weeks now. They have done nothing but show her care and kindness. They have made sure that she has settled and also shown me so much support. It is a big thing in one's life to give up your home but at 97 years young she is ready. Mum has a lovely room with her own bathroom. Mum looks like a different person. Mum is treated with dignity and respect. She has company all day and is involved with the activities that happen every day. She also feels safe and secure. The nutrition is second to none. Mum is so happy and very well cared for. I cannot thank the manager and her staff for all they have done and are continuing to do for Mum and for us.
Had a superb Xmas lunch with my wife and mother (who's 93) at The Hollies, Dursley. What a fabulous presentation! The food was spot on. The staff were so so happy for the whole 2 hours. It was 5 star. Mum thoroughly enjoyed it.
My mum came to the Hollies for palliative care in August 2024. The staff who looked after my mum in the final month of her life were outstanding. Every single member of staff went out of their way to look after her and make her feel welcome and safe. The care staff are amazing and even travelled long distances to obtain the medication my mum needed. Mum was in a beautiful room, with a deck outside for her to enjoy the fresh air. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated in very calming colours. Initially she was able to enjoy the many activities and a trip off-site before she became too poorly to participate. She really appreciated that she could still take part in life. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Hollies and will always be grateful for the peace of mind the staff gave whilst Mum was there. Thank you.
My mother sadly had an unexpected hospital stay and terminal diagnosis. Unable to return home, The Hollies was an easy choice to make; an incredibly positive, professional and technically competent organisation with high standards. Nursing staff traveled to Merseyside, to assess her specific needs and personal preferences, before coordinating a transfer. It was a huge relief to have this support. Care was dignified and professional. Staff went 'over and above' all expectations to make her comfortable and supported (and they provided fun!). Genuinely caring people, who do a tough and difficult job. The facility is high quality and a very pleasant environment with an excellent range of activities. Gardens are tranquil with a variety of birds and wildlife. As a family, we visited daily and felt very comfortable. Always welcome, nothing was too much to ask. With their help, we had 5 months of quality time and are forever grateful to The Hollies. I can recommend them highly - they were superb.
I booked into The Hollies after an operation on my right hand. I was told I would not be able to use it for at least a week and as I live on my own it seemed possible to book in for a week 'holiday' at The Hollies. It was definitely the right thing to do. I was very well looked after, in spite of being a very private and capable person I never felt patronised. Nurses performed their tasks efficiently and patiently. The food was always scrumptious. So I went home feeling much refreshed and able to carry on with life as before. In the past I ran my own nursing home and therefore realised the difficulties that had to be overcome to run a home so efficiently. If I could afford it I would have no worries about going to The Hollies again maybe for a longer time or even permanently if it becomes impossible to live on my own.
My wife received excellent, compassionate and dignified care. The Hollies also looked after the family with care and respect. My wife was there for a short time but we are grateful for the support and care we received.
From our initial enquiry and throughout her 5-month stay the care and attention she received from the Hollies Team was first class. All the staff were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The overall care my mother received was excellent
The Hollies is set in a beautiful location, with various buildings and apartments to suit the needs of those it serves. I was very impressed with the high standard of decoration and cleanliness and felt as if I were staying in a luxurious hotel with stunning grounds and view. But this would be nothing without the excellent nursing and caring staff who are second to none. I can't praise them enough. I would be very happy to come here again should the need arise. Every person who lives here is treated with dignity and respect and the atmosphere is one of family. It is friendly and a happy place to be in - just right for any who need the special care that is needed after an operation and aids in recovery in every way, as you rest and receive their tender, love and care.
The care given to Dad for the last months of his life was outstanding. Every member of the team contributed to his well-being and comfort. Everyone knew his name. I was so impressed with the whole ethos of The Hollies. The kindness and support our family experienced was above and beyond. The registered manager and the head of clinical care were awesome from the beginning. The rooms are spacious and some with decking too. All are ensuite. Freshly painted for arrival. The nursing care given was exceptional. Special thanks to you all.
My mum was looking into respite care for post-op recovery and found The Hollies. She was really impressed with the staff, in particular their medical knowledge and attention to detail. Mum only intended to stay for a few weeks, but sadly received a terminal diagnosis, so her stay at The Hollies became permanent. We had many chats about Mum potentially moving back home, but she was adamant about staying at The Hollies as she felt so comfortable there. I was particularly impressed by the continuity of care; all the staff got to know my mum very well and she really enjoyed chatting with them every day. For me that was so reassuring, as I knew that Mum was seeing the same faces every day and every staff member was up to date with regards to her care plan/medication etc. After every visit, I left knowing that my Mum was in very safe hands. I felt very supported during my mum's last few days and I was able to stay in the neighbouring room which meant I was there for the precious final few hours.
Mum and Dad moved into The Hollies in December 2020 and lived there for just over 2 and 3 years respectively. The care they were given was exceptional - the staff showed them enormous kindness and respect, and we felt wonderfully supported as a family. Nothing was too much trouble, and when Mum died, Dad was looked after with love and compassion which helped him cope at a really difficult time. We know that moving them to The Hollies was the best decision we could have made - they couldn't have asked for better care.
A very distressing visit. Advised that 2 hourly medication for pain relief arrived after 6 hours. Missing meals arriving very late. Bed made at 3.30 pm on the day I visited at my request. Very sad lack of care, depending on staff who understand somebody's 'state' when suffering from severe pain.
