My Down syndrome brother who suffers with dementia and seizures went into Moulsham Home to allow me and my husband to have respite for a week. This was the first time we had used such a service. We were so worried about leaving him. However, our concerns were soon put at ease. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with a warm welcome. The staff were so friendly and treated my brother with respect. The feedback and photographs we were getting from family members that visited him while we were away were so positive. Also the photos showed a very happy brother. We were so pleased we have already used Moulsham Home for daycare service and scheduled another week of respite later in the year. Thank you all at Moulsham Home, we're very grateful
My mum has been at Moulsham Care Home for the last four years. I am very happy with the care she receives. The staff are all kind, caring and supportive. They go above and beyond to make sure she is comfortable and happy. I'm always updated on her health and well being and appreciate this. The home is always clean. Lots of activities and entertainment. The food is great too. I would highly recommend this home to anyone.
What a fantastic care home. The staff are both friendly, attentive and caring towards the residents. My sister is so happy in her respite stay. I have piece of mind that my sister is receiving good care and has her needs met. The staff are very welcoming to me and other visitors, presenting a very relaxed and friendly environment. Well done and thank you to all the staff at Moulsham Home.
Sister absolutely loves this care home. She is always very happy here. The care she gets from the staff is exceptional. Everyone is fully supportive of my sister. So happy my sister in in this care home. Many thanks to all.
Moulsham Residential care home is well run, friendly, providing excellent care to the residents. The team are professional, warm and hard working. They are close knit, caring and attend to the residents' needs and requirements in a timely and effective manner. They respond to queries, requests and questions from relatives, friends as best they can in a busy environment. The only minor issue I would raise is that the clarity around responsibility / actions around medical matters for the residents could be improved in terms of being clearer about who the relatives / friends should contact about queries / questions re their relatives treatment / appointments. Also it would be helpful if a bank account could be set up where relatives could transfer petty cash for relatives disbursements rather than having to physically attend the home
My aunt seems happy at Moulsham Street. She appears well-looked after, amply stimulated by staff and able to lead as active a life as she is capable of. Her medical and financial needs appear to be well-managed and her needs for care and companionship satisfied. The staff seem friendly, caring and always ready to help. Visits are easy to arrange and visitors welcomed into the home.
Initially I thought the Care home was amazing, supportive and my relative well cared for. When the CQC came along I gave them a glowing report. Although the home wasn't perfect I realised that nothing could replace a home environment. Over time I began to take note of things that I was not happy about. 1. Senior staff berating younger staff in front of residents and relatives which was embarrassing. 2. My relative who had LD put in a back room with other residents with LD which was away from the main hub with little or nothing to keep them occupied. 3. My relative eventually suffered from a DVT which wasn't reported until the next day by which time clots had developed on his lungs. I had suggested to a staff member a DVT but she thought it was a leg infection. I feel my relatives last few weeks were made worse by this experience. 4. I was notified by TXT from the manager that they were no longer able to look after my relative. A phone call would have been appreciated.
My mother moved into the Moulsham Home in August 2024. My sister and I had been looking at different homes for a couple of years. From the first visit, this home stood out and the key thing was the owner/manager. She is outstanding versus managers elsewhere. We felt that for her this is more than just a business, it is also a vocation - a pivotal difference. That sets the tone for the culture. We see it in the empathy and care of the team, particularly the senior team and there are excellent young staff too. Their responsiveness to feedback had been important and much appreciated. We were quite nervous about my mother taking this step and had strong opinions about how she should be looked after. The food is mostly home cooking from scratch. There is no danger of anyone being undernourished in this home, there is a strong focus on nutrition and catering to individual preferences and needs. Also, all residents are always clean and well-dressed.
When visiting Moulsham Care Home I have always been welcomed by a member of the staff. The home itself is always clean and tidy with ample staff to see to the residents' needs. All residents are treated with respect and appear to be content. If I have any questions there is always someone available to help. I am very happy that my brothers are well looked after.
My friend was struggling to cope at home and had already contacted Moulsham Home before she was suddenly admitted to hospital. It was such a relief that when, after a few days, she was ready for discharge she could immediately go to this Home on a temporary basis. The staff were welcoming and dealt with a potentially difficult transition very well. The future for my friend is uncertain, but I and her other friends know that for now, she is safe, well-supported, warm, and well-fed.
Our aunt first came to Moulsham Care Home in April 2024, initially for two weeks of respite care while her house was re-wired. We chose this care home because we had been impressed by how helpful and professional the owner was, with clearly a strong team of friendly, kind and efficient carers and we felt it had a lovely, homely ambience. Our aunt was very quickly put at her ease and within a few days had settled in very well. We cannot praise the owner and staff at Moulsham Care Home enough for the excellent care and compassion they have shown to her. Her life has been transformed, having arrived somewhat unkempt and underweight, she is now a healthy weight, always clean and nicely dressed, enjoys trips out and loves the audiobooks they have introduced her to and enjoys the company, none of which she had at home. She liked it so much in fact that decided that she would like to stay in the care home permanently which is a testament to what an outstanding establishment it is.
The carers are very friendly and helpful, they take great care of my husband's needs. My husband is kept clean and tidy and has regular dental visits and chiropodist visits. The food is cooked fresh every day.
My uncle is looked after so well under the care of Moulsham Home. He can be difficult at times but the staff look after him with good humour and great care. He is clean, well fed and his care is amazing. He may not smile at me these days but he smiles at the staff when they joke around with him. It is a relief that he is being looked after so well.
Mum has been a resident for over 2 1/2 years now; she arrived with advanced Alzheimer's and is now much more advanced of course but she has been treated with gentle care and an upbeat attitude throughout. I like to think Mum feels safe at Moulsham Home, I know I feel secure knowing she is in safe hands. Before Mum went into care (on the death of my 92-year-old father) I had looked at several Care Homes in the Chelmsford area for respite care. Only Moulsham Home responded to my enquiry with the applicable information and showed interest at a personal level without a sales pitch. The kindness shown to me at a time of huge stress and upset made the decision an easy one. My family are so thankful that Moulsham Home had availability when we urgently needed it.
My mother arrived at Moulsham Home over 7 years ago, when she was at home, her dementia had been deteriorating. The deterioration immediately slowed because of the excellent care at Moulsham Home. She is never lonely; if she gets agitated, the staff know how to reassure her. Her medication is correctly administered and the whole day is a constant round of meals and snacks! She looks and smells clean. Staff know residents well and how to cater for their individual needs. Based in two converted houses, for a person with dementia, it has a comforting, homely atmosphere; relaxed but professional. If Mum is unwell, or I have concerns about her health, this is always followed up. Staff allow people their dignity wherever possible; they gain consent before giving personal care. Even when residents become anxious or aggressive, the staff are patient and kind. The recent inspection report mentions some administrative points to be addressed, but finds the home to be caring, responsive and effective. If you want your loved ones to be looked after in a caring, homely environment where their needs are met as individuals, and they are warm, well-fed and feel safe, you cold not do better.
Care for my brother has been outstanding since the day he arrived at Moulsham. His personal needs are never too much for staff to attend to promptly. I have visited the home and witnessed staff performing a number of tasks and I was very impressed. Over the festive season, a wonderful ambience was created.
My husband came to Moulsham Home on Friday the 8th of December. Today is Thursday the 14th of December 2023. In the 6 days, he has been here the improvements in his health are beyond belief. The staff are excellent, the home is warm, friendly and clean. Nothing is too much trouble. I think it's the best home in the area.
The staff are caring and very supportive of my mum. Her needs are taken care of. Mum is happy in this home.
Widowed, lonely, irritable, frail and imprisoned in her own home during lockdown, my mother was transformed after her move to Moulsham Home. She very soon rediscovered her smile and her appetite and seemed to thrive again in the sort of social setting she could no longer have at home. Three years later, she describes herself as very happy in Moulsham Home. She says she feels at home, well fed and well looked after. With her frailty and dementia, she is completely reliant on the impressive patience and vigilance of the staff who I find to be cheerful, conscientious and easy to deal with.
