View Full Details of Sherwood GrangeMy husband had three weeks respite at Sherwood Grange in August. Time was taken to settle him in and I was also made very welcome and told that I could visit at any time of day. He liked the staff and they seemed to like him so I felt quite happy after five days to go away with my family for a weeks holiday leaving him in their care. While I was away I even had a phone call to say that he was ok. Even on my return he did not seem to mind that he was not coming home with me which proved to me that he was quite at home there. This respite has been invaluable for my wellbeing to allow me to continue to look after my husband with Alzheimers for as long as I can.
Mum was at Sherwood Grange for just over a year and had the best care we could have asked for. I was very unsure about using a care home but it was the right choice. Mum had companionship and a staff team who really cared. They arranged a party for her Birthday which was so special. It was also great from a relative's point of view as communication was excellent and we were able to arrange for help with hospital trips when we weren't available. The 'open door' policy for visiting was so reassuring. The whole team were amazing from the office staff, the reception team to the carers who all took the time to really know the residents. A particular thanks to the team leaders, who all went the extra mile as well as carers who Mum got to know and trust. Most importantly, Mum called it home and that, I think, says it all.
When my mother moved into Sherwood Grange, she found the staff welcoming, caring and kind. Visitors also are made to feel very welcome. The ensuite rooms are very pleasant and comfortable. The home is very clean and well maintained and all the common areas comfortable and inviting for both residents and visitors. There is a pretty garden area as well. The meals are very good and beautifully served and there are plenty of varied activities for those that want. I would definitely recommend Sherwood Grange.
It was with trepidation that I sent my husband, suffering with Parkinson's and dementia into Sherwood Grange for his first respite stay, but I felt reassured by the staff and their caring attitude towards him. His accommodation fulfilled all his needs and wants as did the staff taking care of him. They made me feel at ease with the situation too, so much so that I have booked another respite stay for him (and me!) next month. So thank you to the team at Sherwood Grange.
My husband was admitted on the 9th of May. Straight away he was taken care by the staff and made to feel at home. Every time I went to see him he was busy which is good for his mind. He had a lovely room overlooking trees.
My brother and I were delighted with the three weeks respite care my father received at Sherwood Grange again this year. The staff where friendly and professional and made my Dad feel welcome and ensure he had everything he need when required. When I visited my Dad , he only had hi praise for staff and other residents and how they involved him in everything from singing and drinks in the garden. He also enjoyed lots of guests who came in to chat / gave talks to residents making a change from his normal daily routine at home. So I would strongly recommend this home and I will mine and Dad's my first choice when he needs respite again.
I was very happy that my Mum was part of Sherwood Grange care. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Mum had a nice big room, with her own bathroom, the reception aria and coffee shop were welcoming to use at all times. We spent some time with her enjoying teas and coffees with cakes or biscuits, in the cafe or sit in the lovely garden when weather permited. I strongly recommend Sherwood Grange
My daughters and I were delighted with the three weeks respite care my wife had at Sherwood Grange. The staff were very welcoming and quickly helped her settle in. I was impressed by the professional approach they took to learning all about her and what she needed by way of help with dressing, eating and sleeping. She quickly felt at home, helped by having a nice room with a view of the garden and her first lunch. I visited most days and always found her to be happy and contented and several times I was able to see her join in with music and singing sessions. It was great to be able to take her down to the cafe for a drink and a cake or to sit in the garden with other residents and staff. The staff were always friendly and well engaged and alert to any possible issues. Sometimes clothes go missing in homes but the laundry were very efficient at labelling any clothes which I had failed to mark and in returning them all packed up at the end of the stay. I strongly recommend the home.
Sherwood Grange Nursing home is a fantastic place, very caring to all its residents and manament are Brilliant, if I was to give it star's I woud give 5 stars. As my Wife is very happy there and settled in very nicely.
Thanks to the team at Sherwood Grange for making my Dad's Respite Care stay with them so smooth. This is the second time we have used this temporary service to give my mum a well-earned rest. It's been a really simple experience with lots of kind and attentive carers who make us all feel at ease and ensure the approach is tailored to us. We would really recommend this to anyone looking for short-term, high-quality care for an elderly loved one when the time comes.
My Mum came to Sherwood Grange for her second respite stay From December 2024 to January 2025. As before, the staff were very helpful when planning and getting ready for her arrival. The whole team were so friendly and welcoming, and the facilities are of the highest standard. Suffering with dementia, mum was anxious and scared. The Carers took the time to re-assure her , to make her feel safe and welcome. The environment and facilities are spotless, the fixtures and fittings are good quality. The menu is delicious, the food well-cooked and presented to restaurant standards. The activities are well thought out. But all this would count for nothing without the kindness and attentiveness of all the staff, from the Cleaners, to the Carers, Team Leaders, Reception and Customer Relations staff.
Mum was very tired after multiple hospital stays and being discharged prematurely. Her care team at home are excellent but the coming and going of multiple bodies had left her very weary. She needed some respite to get back her feeling of self worth. This is exactly what Sherwood Grange provided her with. Mum looks and feels rejuvenated after her stay. A super new hairstyle, the enjoyment of spending time with her fellow residents and generally feeling pampered. A wonderful stay!
I could not be more appreciative and thankful for the dignified and professional care my great friend received during his time at Sherwood Grange, from Jan '23 until Oct '24. Although maybe not always the easiest resident, he came to have great trust and affection for the wonderful Sherwood Grange team who truly valued and respected him as an individual. His medical needs were carefully monitored, and I always was informed of any changes to his situation. As his next of kin, it fell to me to search for the best care home where he could be happy, comfortable and well looked after, and the decision to choose Sherwood Grange has never once been regretted. Also, I will always be extremely grateful for the support I received from the management team, particularly if I was struggling in my dealings with Social Services. In my friend's final weeks and days, I could not have asked for anything more; he knew that he was safe and loved, and the support I also received at this time was exemplary.
I am writing this review in sadness at my father's recent passing (he almost made it to 99 years) but his friends and family are very glad and grateful that his final years were spent in Sherwood Grange. Moving out of one's own home into a retirement home is not an easy decision, but my father was very glad he did so. Sherwood Grange is a lovely, purpose-built 'home-from-home', clean, calm and welcoming, with great facilities and generously sized rooms, but it is above all the staff that make the difference. Without exception, there is a feeling that they know every resident as an individual and care about their well-being. A wholehearted recommendation!
Sherwood Grange has been a lifeline for me while my husband was needing care. He had heard great things about Sherwood and decided to go. For two years he could not speak highly enough of the staff and how the whole place was managed. Even the people right at the top of management knew him well and would have quality time together. It felt like a home away from home when I would visit and the people working there felt like family. My husband and I would get away for 2 week holidays every few months and the staff would always welcome us back with open arms. My husband passed away in May 2024, it has been and continues to be a tricky time for me, but knowing I still have the people at Sherwood and having their hugs and tears alongside me on the day meant the world. Thank you to everyone at Sherwood and to how the place is managed and just runs so smoothly.
My mother recently stayed at Sherwood Grange for a period of two weeks. My mum was very well cared for her during her short break. All staff were caring and respectful, and took time to make her feel welcome and at home. When I visited her during the period she was there she seemed calm and content. My mum, who suffers from dementia, has a love of music. The staff encouraged her to take part in all the musical activities that were on offer at the home, of which there were many. My father (her primary carer) was able to have two weeks of respite, knowing that she was in safe hands. If and when my mother needs permanent care, Sherwood Grange would definitely be our first choice of care home.
My mum recently moved into Sherwood Grange care home after a long stay in hospital. Sherwood Grange has a warm and cosy feel, and the staff have been brilliant at making my mum feel welcome and extremely well cared for. My mum has already made new friends and loves having coffee and cake with them or sitting in the sunny garden. Honestly, Sherwood Grange has not only given my mum a warm welcome but me peace of mind, knowing she is very happy.
Our family member was welcomed back like an old friend. He was well looked after and treated with dignity and respect, and all his requests were met where possible. He enjoyed his stay, especially at meal times and was in no hurry to leave.
Celebrating Mum’s 93rd Birthday with her at Sherwood Grange recently was the happiest occasion and such a good example of the wonderfully warm and caring atmosphere which is a signature of this home. Moving to Sherwood Grange has been in many ways a new beginning for our mother, who has delighted in the kindness and understanding of the staff, the excellent food and the varied activities on offer day-to-day. She has regained so much of herself since moving here and finds happiness in every day, thanks to the Sherwood Grange team.
We continue to be impressed by the high standards of care at Sherwood Grange. The staff are wonderfully kind and patient and do so much to engage and entertain the residents, even during the most trying of times. I feel reassured and comforted knowing that she is safe and cared for. Thank you.
