View Full Details of Abbot Care HomeMy brother has been a resident for a year now at the care home. There is always a good welcome and atmosphere within the home. There are plenty of daily organised activities. Any concerns are picked up and acted on promptly, with good communication. I have found the care staff on my brother's unit to be exceptional.
My Mum spent the last several months of her life at Abbot Care Home, from October 2024 until May 2025 after being placed there for end of life care. I cannot thank the staff enough. My Mum knew she was loved and cared for by the staff, I would visit daily and I saw the relationships built between my Mum and all the staff (and I mean all the staff) from the carers, nurses, domestics, managers, activities staff. She was always treated with dignity and respect, she was happy and always had a smile for them, or a little nickname, nothing was too much trouble. Sadly we lost Mum in May this year, but when other charities or company's say they are there for you, but they aren't. It is different with Abbot Care Home, we the family still matter, they check to see how we are doing. If you are looking for a care home for long term care or respite care, from my experience I would recommend them and the staff who work there.
Excellent service and staff all 100%.
Enjoyed my stay, great staff.
My last review was in Feb 2023 when Mum was a very new resident in KFI unit. Now, over 2 years later, I am really pleased to say she's still as happy, now, as she was then. Care is still excellent. She is treated with much kindness and dignity. She enjoys the food and although she does not attend any activities, she enjoys the times activities staff pop in for a chat with her. One thing I feel would improve KFI unit is a dishwasher. I think it would be far more hygienic and also save already overworked and busy carers some valuable time.
Since the day my brother went into Abbott Care Home, Kingfisher 2 Unit I have nothing but praise for this wonderful Home. Everyone of the staff have been just incredible. Always very professional, patient, kind and caring to him and to us as a family whenever we visited. The communication has been brilliant which was very important as we live a long way from the area and whenever I contacted them they always made me feel my brother was a special person in his own right, not just another resident. Nothing was too much trouble and we took great comfort knowing he was being cared for so wonderfully. . We will always be indebted to you and I can honestly say we would not have wanted him to be anywhere else for this last stage of his earthly journey. I can't recommend you highly enough. A heartfelt "thank you" for everything.
Absolutely wonderful, the staff are so dedicated and the attention to detail from them is second to none. Cannot praise this care home enough.
Our mum has been in Abbot Care Home since approx feb this year. First on Jubilee, now on King Fisher 1. I can honestly say that this Care home is second to none, from ensuring the building is bright and welcoming reception to every member of staff. The activities are varied and the care and love shown to Mum is outstanding. Cannot recommend this home highly enough. Bravo! Keep up the good work.
The staff are excellent when consistent. Staff absence and holidays can't be helped but would be so much better as new staff don't always know the residents' needs. The food is lovely and a wide range of choice. Mum is very happy here.
Felt thoroughly welcomed from the start. The team looked after me and chatted. The food was plentiful and tasty. This team also kept my evening sandwich meals for a later time to suit me. The activities were varied and interesting. The activities lady was really friendly. The team in the Jubilee suite looked after me so well. Especially one of the staff who is a diamond. Thanks for looking after mum.
People get more value for money than me. Because at the moment, I can do a lot for myself, including helping others. Food and laundry have improved, awaiting a special monthly room clean. Daytime care is excellent. Nighttime varies. I can't find any fault with my care. There are faults, but they don't affect me.
The carers and nurses are exceptional with 100% professionalism and compassion to my father. Nothing is ever too much trouble and always done with a caring smile.
I would like to start by saying all the carers who help with my grandad are lovely. They are always helpful if we ask them questions, or if we have an issue. The home is always clean and tidy.
Absolutely a lovely care home my father health has improved so much. All the staff go above and beyond their duties, Nothing is too much trouble. So much going on through out the days/ weeks. Many thanks to everybody
My mum moved in to Abbott care home in December 2024. Although the room is quite basic, it is enough for everyday needs. Mum Is happy with the choice of food and day to day activities on offer. The staff are very friendly and helpful but seem to be busy as it can sometimes take a little longer for mum to be seen when needed.
I can't fault the general care and attention Dad receives. His attendance at activities is the highlight of each day and has improved his demeanour. He enjoys his meals, but prefers the desserts since developing a sweet tooth (or 2). The home is clean & well maintained. Overall the staff are friendly & welcoming & the updates & communication regarding dads welfare are regular & clear & concise. Thank you.
My mum joined the home on the 1st of March so a new resident. She is looked after & cared for very well. She has a choice of what to eat. Daily activities if she wishes to join in. Staff are friendly and caring. She doesn't feel lonely or bored, she is happy, I am happy.
So far can't complain about anything. Communcation by phone could be better (especially when calling the home). The lady and the activities are amazing and always bring a smile to my mum.
This is the third care home my relative has lived in and by far the best. My relative is very happy at Abbot Care Home. They like the carers, the food and the general vibe. The carers are wonderful where nothing is too much trouble, issues if any are listened to and dealt with. The care my relative receives is excellent. Communication with family members is good, we are involved in our relatives care at all levels. The home offers an excellent activity list, there is something for everyone and new activities are always being introduced according to residents wishes. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Abbot Care Home to others.
I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional care, kindness and compassion you show my mum every day. It is such a comfort to know that she is surrounded by dedicated and caring individuals who go above and beyond to make her feel safe, valued and supported. Your patience, warmth and professionalism do not go unnoticed and they mean the world to both my mum and our family. I would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at Mallards and say thank you for everything you do to make her days brighter. Please know that your hard work and dedication make a profound difference, and we are truly grateful. What can I say about one lady who is always going over and beyond to make people happy you are truly amazing and I will never be able to repay you for the kindness you showed to Mum not only now but while she was in hospital, you are one amazing lady.
