View Full Details of Castle GrangeDad has been in care for 18mths. Overall our experience has been a good one. Staff are generally caring and seem genuinely fond of my dad & he seems happy. He is very well fed and partakes in a lot of activities. Sometimes basic care could be better EG. Teeth/mouthcare, handwashing after toileting, wiping mouth after eating. Generally I am very happy. Thank you!
Home is modern, clean and has very decent facilities. There are a range of activities. It would be helpful if residents could be encouraged to do the activities as they do not always remember them or appreciate the benefits. Support for language & physical therapy would be helpful at a cost to residents. Staff are very helpful & caring but there are not enough staff which puts pressure on staff & residents. Food is ok but menus could be improved.
My mum was in castle grange for a few years and both her and my family were treated terribly. My mum was holding her medication back then overdosing later. We put safeguarding on castle grange meaning that 2 staff members were supposed to give her meds but they still only had one staff do it and when my mum overdosed again castle grange accused us and put safeguarding on us. We were not allowed out with our mum and were not allowed to be alone with her. The staff wouldn't even take water that we asked for to her room as she was often admitted to hospital with dehydration and we just wanted to know she had water in her room. We were not allowed in her room during safeguarding so for peace of mind and out of love we asked the staff to take her water to her room before we left but 2 hours later and after asking many times the water was still in the canteen. They evicted my mum on her last visit to hospital where she died homeless on 7th July. Horrific care home for our lovely mum.
The staff, carers, cleaners and management are all very pleasant & friendly. It seems to be a lovely place to live. Very nice surroundings. Cannot think of anything negative to say.
When I visit my friend in the care home, I meet friendly staff who really care. Residents look happy and relaxed and everywhere is spotlessly clean.
Mum is well happy & socialised. Thriving.
My sister moved to Castle Grange following a fall and a stay in hospital. The atmosphere in the care home is friendly and welcoming with helpful and supportive staff. It is bright, cheerful and very clean. All the communal spaces are well laid out as is her bedroom which she likes very much. My sister comments on the food which is very good. When she left hospital her mobility was impaired and the experience left her with feelings of confusion. Her stay at Castle Grange has greatly benefitted her both mentally and physically.
We discovered Castle Grange by chance but from the first look round to assess for mum we were impressed. The staff were friendly, helpful & the room available was lovely, the patio doors to her own garden space perfect as she likes quiet time. The transition to the doctors the home uses was quick & we are reassured she has help when needed. Having mum so well cared for has allowed myself & the family to trust she is safe, warm, supported & she is eating well so we can visit & enjoy a cuppa with her.
Castle Grange is a lovely home, the staff are so friendly and we really enjoy visiting, we bring our Grand daughter who is very popular with everybody residents and staff! The home is beautifully furnished.
Castle Grange is purpose built, beautifully furnished and extremely well kept. I couldn't have found a better place for my mother to live. However it is the staff at all levels - administration, domestic, catering, care and management, who make CG outstanding. Residents are treated with warmth, compassion and respect. The staff know the individuals by name, know their individual needs and foibles, and are ready with a hug when needed. I wish that second floor residents were able to be included in the various activities more frequently, however appreciate that individual needs in this regard are especially demanding and that this is not always possible to achieve without significant disruption to staffing requirements etc.
My mum has been a resident at Castle Grange care home for almost a year, after a major fall and admission to hospital for surgery. It was a relief to find Castle Grange were able to take care of mum and enable her to have excellent care, after the traumatic time in hospital. The staff are excellent, very caring and hard working and mum has settled in and is comfortable and making friends. The home is well run, spotlessy clean and nothing is too much trouble. Living so far away, it is a weight off my mind knowing that mum is receiving a high quality of care, is safe and content.
My mum who has dementia, has lived at Castle Grange in Scarborough for more than 3 years. Whilst there appears to be a high staff turnover, the care provided is first rate whilst the patience of the staff appears limitless. They are also always friendly and helpful when I visit. The purose built building is modern and well maintained
The 5 stars applies to over a year my mother in law has been living at Castle Grange. She is 94 and has dementia, we are delighted that we found Castle Grange. Their standard of care is first class; The food is of high standard The activities are well organised and on a daily basis The decor is very tasteful and smart The cleanliness of the rooms and public areas is again of a high standard I like the way the staff speak to the residents, always time to listen, patient, kind and caring, likewise with visiting families. It is such a relief to have found such a wonderful place for my mother-in-law.
My husband has had 18 months of wonderful care in Castle Grange. A lovely place for all residents and a pleasure to visit. It was a special birthday for my husband yesterday (90 years) and I felt lonely, visiting alone, but come afternoon, happy smiling staff brought balloons and a chocolate cake with candles and everyone sang 'Happy Birthday'! It was like being with a family. Respect and love always shown to all residents.
Since my mum moved into Castle Grange Care Home, she has been made to feel welcome, and most importantly, feel safe. All the staff do a great job, from taking her to activities like gardening to getting her the countless cups of tea she asks for. Everywhere is lovely and clean. Communication between the care home and me is brilliant, and I always feel welcome on my visits to my mum, by all of the staff. As her son, I can now relax when I am not with her, as I know she is in good hands, getting the care she needs.
Home and room very well presented. Staff very pleasant and helpful. I personally am very happy that my mum has this as her home. The care and attention is obvious everywhere. I have already recommended Castle Grange to my friends.
This is a most amazing care home. The staff go beyond and above their duties at all times. I feel so lucky that my husband got a room here. Even if it is only for a short term. I have been made very welcome when I visit him. The main thing when I leave, knowing he is in a very superb place. His health is so much improved since he arrived here. Well done to all of the hard working management and staff. Keep the good work up. A million thanks for all that you do, every single day.
Really pleased with all staff. All very approachable and welcoming. They are taking very good care of my mum. Home is well run and facilities are really well thoughtout and clean. Staff are very aware of my mum's needs and act quickly if anything new arises that needs attention.
I will be eternally grateful to all the staff at Castle Grange for the kindness and care they showed towards my mother. She was with them for over 3 years with advancing Alzheimer's and, due to the disease, had some difficult moments which they always handled with understanding and compassion. They cared for her at the end of her life with so much tenderness, I was blown away. Thank you all so much.
Castle Grange Care Home has been exemplary in every way. Dad was in the home for only a short time, but in that time he blossomed. All the staff were incredible, obviously the care team, but also management admin, catering, maintenance - all were so kind and caring of dad's needs. Wonderful in every way - we just wish dad had lived longer to enjoy it all.
