We feel as a family extremely fortunate to have found Ancasta Grove. Our father was admitted as an EOL patient. He was nursed with dignity, supported by all members of staff. The family were helped throughout this sad period of time. Emotional support for the family was seen as important as care for
our father.
Something which at a sad time is overlooked by many. Thank you on behalf of our father and our family

This is the first review of the care home that I have submitted in some time.
My elderly father has been a resident ever since the home first opened back in 2021. He has dementia & is increasingly frail. I know - & can see from my regular visits - that he remains very happy to be at Ancasta
Grove & that is, in large part, due to the quality of the care he receives from all of the staff within the home.
While I am, at times, a little frustrated at some of the communications from members of the care team, there is absolutely no doubt that they are very diligent in the way they go about looking after dad & managing some of the issues he faces from day to day.
Dad is particularly fond of the front desk staff who are obviously very caring individuals & also look after him very well.
It is also obvious that Colin puts in a tremendous amount of effort to keep the residents - dad included - entertained & engaged on a daily basis, so much credit is due to him for his efforts.

My Grandma was recently a resident in Ancasta Grove, where she received end-of-life care for just under nine months. The quality of care, attention to detail, hygiene, the relational warmth of the staff and the general environment was exceptionally good! I work in healthcare and am all too aware
that not every care facility in the UK provides a great experience for their clients. This place is different: all the staff seem to take pride in their work and look after the wider family too, not just the client themselves. I cannot speak highly enough of this place and will be forever grateful for the way they looked after my lovely Grandma in her final days.

Since Mum moved into Ancatsa Grove in August 2025, we have been made to feel part of a really caring community. From the initial meeting to mum moving in, the staff have been so friendly and caring both towards mum and us as a family. The facilities, rooms, food and drink are all of an excellent
standard. There have been so many lovely activities during December. I am so glad mum has become part of Ancasta Grove.

My mother-in-law moved into AG at the end of April 2025 with jaw and mouth cancer. The staff, facilities, activities and ethos are simply superb. The quality of nursing and the links with outside agencies such as palliative care and the local doctors' surgery are fantastic. Issues such as the
special menu provided (pureed) have helped enormously in keeping spirits up. Very important, in understandably difficult circumstances, has been the care and support for my wife and I, as we have visited daily. The carers and nurses know my mother-in-law and my wife and I by name; my mother-in-law looks upon the staff as her friends! Communication has been excellent throughout, with the reception team being pivotal in establishing and maintaining the wonderful ethos.

My mother is very settled in Ancasta Grove. Her room is bright with garden access, which she enjoys. The home is very clean and tidy and maintained to a high standard. The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond. They work very hard to make residents included. The manager is a great
influence on the staff, helping them achieve such high standards.

I have found Ancasta Grove to be a warm, welcoming home. Although I have not experience any other homes for my wife, this being my fortuitous choice, I can not imagine better.
The staff seem imbued with happy dispositions, always greeting us with a smile and a how are you. The grouping of the
residents on different floors seems to be done with care. The ground floor cafe providing a place where interaction can take place.

When I arrived at Ancasta Grove I was greeted by a lovely receptionist , the place was inviting and very clean.
Lovely decorated for Christmas and staff looked happy and even though they looked busy they stopped to chat.
I took my friend round the garden which is absolutely beautiful even at
this time of year.

The lifestyle lead is such an asset to Ancasta Grove. The whole team is excellent, but the lead is exceptional, caring and needs to be retained at all costs.

Resident has been in the care home for 6 weeks. She is a different person. The care, attention, regular meals and control of medication has offered her a new lease of life.
A difficult decision has had a positive outcome. Thank you.

Once my mother was unable to get out of bed safely, she was not generally included in many of the activities that are provided to other occupants. She was in her room alone for most of the day with little or no stimulation or communication with others. I had tried to encourage staff to take her out
of the room in a wheel chair but generally they were too busy or not interested. As a result, I don't think she was happy there and sadly this contributed to her relatively rapid decline in mental and physical health over the 7 months she was there, until her death in August. This was a shame as overall it is a friendly and positive place to be, with some lovely staff.
Main areas of concern while my mother was a resident were:
The majority of the care staff (especially at weekends) were young men from a different ethnic background to my mother; unfortunately, I expect this would have caused some additional stress for my mother. I think this should have been mentioned when viewing the home before my mother moved.
In addition, communication with local surgery and the district nurse was disappointing with several issues e.g. hearing aid, urinary infection medication, taking weeks, or never resolved
For someone relatively mobile without dementia I'm sure they would have a more positive experience.
This is why I have given mixed ratings, although I have no experience of other care homes to compare with.

My father entered Ancasta Grove in October 2024. He has always been treated with care & dignity. Recently he had his 100th birthday & Ancasta celebrated this milestone with a wonderful cake, decs & such affection from staff, making his day very special. Communication between staff & family are swift
& informative. My brother & myself are very happy with Ancasta Grove.

I had been living alone for seven years and became a resident on 7th October 2024 - immediately my life changed - for the better. Everyone, staff and residents were so friendly, the meals and activities are excellent - I can't speak to highly of all that I have mentioned. I've never had so many
friends. Long may it last.

This is an exceptional care home. The admin staff are professional & friendly. The reception staff are welcoming and will always help with any problem. The 'med' team are very professional and meds are always delivered at the correct time. The carers are all friendly & helpful. The activity team
provide activities to stretch the brain. When I leave shortly I will have left my second family behind.
07 April 2025
The nursing staff, support workers and management team were supportive but most importantly so caring and willing to help my father during the last few days of his life, my only regret is that he didn't have enough time to appreciate the excellent environment he was in.

Ancasta Grove is the most fantastic caring home! The staff are all excellent! Could not be beaten!
27 January 2025
Whilst this home has beautiful facilities unfortunately I would not recommend for residents who need higher levels of care including more acute mobility issues and dementia.
I have high praise for the reception team and activity coordinators who are very friendly and genuinely seem to have care
and affection for residents however the medical teams and day to day care seems to be completed as a tick box excercise without a genuine care for my grandmother. Issues I have encountered include;
- Staff failing to complete hourly checks and falsifying paperwork records
- Lack of dignity given to my grandmother, rushing procedures and not giving her genuine patience and choices.
- Not notifying next of kin when she completely ran out of underwear allowing her to go 2 weeks before rectifying
- Not reacting in a timely manner to fall alerts or alarms
- hygiene concerns with bathroom being left in an unacceptable state for several hours.
- loss of personal clothing items

As the wife of a resident at Ancasta Grove, I have been thoroughly impressed since my husband moved here in August 2024. Having experienced another care home, the difference is remarkable. Ancasta Grove prioritizes genuine care over profit, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The management
team is hands-on, regularly engaging with residents and families, while a variety of activities keeps residents active and entertained. The large, accessible garden is a beautiful space for relaxation and socialization.
The home is highly accommodating, alternative meals are always available if needed and staff and management dine with residents, fostering a strong sense of community. Ancasta Grove also ensures that any funded nursing care awarded is fully used to reduce privately funded fees, providing families with transparency and peace of mind. This home has provided my husband with a safe, nurturing and happy environment. I highly recommend Ancasta Grove to anyone seeking outstanding care for their loved ones.

The staff are excellent. The care Mum receives is 100%. Her room is perfect with a view of the garden.
17 October 2024
Mum only went into Ancasta Grove in February this year and was particularly enamoured of the food and the wide variety of activities. She is a gregarious person and has quickly become acquainted with her mealtime buddies. She likes the quiet lounge when visitors come and that is often where we head
to chat. She makes quick decisions about the carers and will tell us who her favourites are as well as who she is not to keen on. Mum has a permanent catheter and the ability to deal with this i.e. securing it at night and the 12 week change over seemst o vary greatly between carers. Family feel that more training should be put in place forthis to minimise pain for Mum.
