View Full Details of Heathlands HouseMoving a loved one into a care home can be one of the hardest decisions to make. Thankfully, Heathlands House made the whole transition smooth and mum settled in quickly. She's been on the ground floor for over a year now and is thriving. Heathlands feels like a home from home and what makes it truly special is the staff - they genuinely care, don't use agencies, and go the extra mile. English isn't her first language, yet staff try to connect with her using the odd word or translator. We started at another care home so can say that the ratios here are better, and while no home can fully replicate 1:1 care, HH comes very close! The place is clean, the café area is sociable, with regular entertainment. Staff are wonderful and kind, and the food is excellent (especially the cakes!) There's a real sense of community; a Catholic priest even visits fortnightly to say Mass. Management are approachable, have high standards and are open to feedback. I wholeheartedly recommend Heathlands.
My mother received excellent, kind and compassionate care for over a year at Heathlands. We really appreciated how stable the staff team was, which meant she knew her carers well, and we did too. The staff were sensitive to changes in her needs (through a lot of change in that time) and took action to provide what was required for her. They were always cheerful, friendly and professional. The food was delicious and appetising, and the chef and team really cared about each individual resident, wanting them to have the best possible experience. My mother's room was very comfortable and spacious, and she enjoyed going into the garden, which is a lovely space to have for a city-based care home. Although she was not able to take part in many of the group activities, the team were always available and looking at ways they could help. There was a really lovely welcome to visitors, a feeling of community, and at the end of her life everyone was so supportive and genuinely caring.
Our mother is currently a resident at Heathlands House, moving in permanently last August 2024. This potentially difficult transition has been an unmitigated success and is a really positive story. The home itself is very comfortable and extremely pleasant, but it is the staff, without exception, that make this care home next level! They are are wonderful: kind, good humoured and funny, The lifestyle team in particular have such an intelligent empathetic attentiveness towards each and every resident that nothing is too big or small for them to suggest or provide, enabling the residents to have fulfilling and joyful lives at the home. Our mother is so happy here, and sincerely appreciates her care; she praises it constantly, be it to the BBC (on VE day - a great event), or to visiting prospective residents and their families. She herself is the best ambassador for the home and would fully endorse the wholehearted thanks and praise from myself and my siblings, of Heathlands House.
I just wanted to say a big thank you to Heathlands House Care Home for organising such a fantastic Community Fun Day at Cherry Hinton Recreation Ground this July. It was a brilliant event with a lovely atmosphere, and it meant a lot to our family. The staff were incredibly supportive and made sure everything was accessible and comfortable for the residents. It was heartwarming to see everyone mingling, laughing, and enjoying the activities. The event really showed the care and effort the Heathlands team puts into making life special for their residents and families. It was great seeing her smile and participate in the day - these moments are so important, and we're truly grateful for the opportunity. A huge well done to everyone involved!
We came to visit a resident who had been our choir teacher and were impressed by the care and attention being given to her in her distressing illness. We were made very welcome to share lunch and enjoy the garden with her.
As a close friend of one of the residents at Heathlands House, I've had the opportunity to visit regularly and see first-hand the incredible care and support provided here. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted with such warmth and kindness - not just towards me, but more importantly, towards the residents. My friend has truly flourished since moving into Heathlands. The difference in their confidence, mood, and overall well-being is remarkable. The staff take the time to really get to know each resident as an individual - their routines, preferences, and even the little things that make them smile. It's so clear that this isn't just a job to them, they genuinely care. There's always something going on, from activities and music to quiet time in the garden. I honestly can't speak highly enough of Heathlands House. Knowing my friend is in such capable and caring hands brings real peace of mind. This place is a gem.
Absolutely amazing home and the care for my grandma is outstanding. Cannot thank the staff enough. Makes us as a family feel secure and happy. Again huge Thankyou to all the staff for everything they do.
My friend has been in the home for a few months, it is a lovely place with lovely people. I can't think of a better home for her, the food is great. It is clean and smells nice everywhere. 5 stars for everything.
Wonderful place for your loved ones! Always welcoming, very clean, always a fun activity going on. Very friendly staff.
I have been invited by my dearest friend on the 20th of December to attend the care homes Winter Wonderland event. I must admit it has been a pleasure. The staff were so welcoming and warm on arrival and so careful with everyone. I felt part of a family group gathering, not complete strangers and it has been so lovely to see everyone so happy and relaxed. Thank you for a wonderful day!
Heathlands House Care Home is truly a remarkable place, where the well being and comfort of the residents is clearly the top priority. From the moment you step inside you are welcomed by a warm, inviting atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. The staff at Heathlands House are exceptional, they are not only highly professional but also genuinely caring, always going above and beyond to ensure that each resident feels valued and supported. The home itself is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, offering a homely environment.
My husband told me frequently how happy he was at Heathlands House, and how lucky he felt to be there. "The staff are kind and the food is good." he would say. I would endorse his comment fully. The staff are unfailingly cheerful and helpful, if something needs doing they go out of their way to do it at once. Everyone gives 150%, the management is highly approachable and the atmosphere could not be warmer or more friendly. We never regretted choosing this as the care home for him.
My wife was given excellent care by a dedicated and friendly team of multinational carers. However, my request to have a bed with bedrails was initially ignored, as the assessor said there was a danger of her climbing over the rails. She has never done this in 5 years of short stays in care homes and the first night she fell out of the bed and had to move rooms to where a railed bed was available. She also received little exercise on the first floor (I heard ground floor residents invited to take part in sessions) but respect she was on the dementia floor, where there was also no chance of a lucid conversation at meal times. My wife is only suffering from memory loss and is quite compos mentis. Finally, I passed on requests for a chiropody visit but this did not happen. So, overall, the standard of care was fine at base level but the extras we might expect for £3920 were missing. We were even asked to provide incontinence pads and medication (which I supplied in full) tendered without explanation or consultation.
Amazing cakes always available, especially like the recipe book on display, great idea and I often take a photo so I can have a go at making at home. My lovely dad also really enjoys the cake as a special treat along with a hot chocolate. Thank you team!
Mum has been a resident at Heathlands House for nearly 2 years. We couldn't be happier with the care, every member of staff goes out of their way to meet mum's needs and improve her quality of life. The home provides a safe and welcoming environment and we're very grateful that mum is so well looked after.
My father has now been a resident at Heathlands House for just over a year. He settled quickly and has been very well cared for. The staff are clearly committed, thoughtful and caring. Communication with me has been sensitive, timely and clear. The facilities are open, inviting and very well maintained. In summary, we have been very pleased with your service and have already recommended Heathlands House to several friends and relations. Thanks to all.
I come to visit my friend at least once a month and from the moment I walk into Heathlands House I'm made to feel welcome by the staff, the building is always so clean and smells so fresh. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. The chefs outdo themselves with the food, it's outstanding! I highly rate Heathlands House. Ten out of ten.
My aunt arrived at the home having fractured her hip. She was unable to walk and was quite confused by the fall, the surgery, the anaesthetic and the move from her home to the hospital to care home. By the end of her 3-month stay, she was back to her normal self, or even better than she was at her own home just before the fall. She was able to walk, thanks to the excellent physiotherapy, she was socialising around the lunch and supper table, she was whizzing around in the wheelchair, and even had a much-needed haircut. She really enjoyed the lovely garden, sitting out in the sun over the summer with a cup of tea and a piece of cake. She thoroughly enjoyed the food - home-cooked and ample in portions. The room was a lovely large size with good en suite facilities. Visiting was at any time. She only left to go and live with a relative.
All the staff are gentle, patient and kind with an understanding of the difficulties of Mum's Alzheimer's condition. Heathlands is comfortable with a nice garden that we always use during visits. We have spent enjoyable morning sitting in the shade on sunny and warms days. Thank you to everyone at Heathlands.
Very happy with my partner's stay. Food and accommodation were of a good standard. Staff supportive and helpful and caring.
