View Full Details of Oxford Manor Care HomeOxford Manor in Didcot offers excellent care. My dad is there on a permanent basis and my mum has recently stayed for respite recuperation. The nursing and care staff are friendly and helpful. The management team are friendly, knowledgeable, extremely helpful and supportive. The atmosphere is really positive with residents encouraged to join in and welcome visitors and newbies. The activities coordinator is committed to offering the best opportunities for the residents and actively encourages participation. The food is very good with a great chef who is hands on in serving residents and understanding their needs and preferences. The setting is clean and well kept with easy access to the garden where applicable for residents. I would definitely recommend this home.
Very welcoming. Consideration, helpfulness & caring across all levels of staff not only to the residents but those visiting. Lovely atmosphere & decor. Excellent food service. Great outdoor view across fields.
Mum and Dad have been living at Oxford Manor care home since December. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for all the care and support they receive. Mum and Dad both have individual complex needs , which the staff endeavour to help and support them on a daily basis. The staff have shown such care and patience and always striving to help them in anyway they can. I just wanted to say thanks !
Very poor care, not enough staff, alarms not working, residents left to there on deficiencies for long periods of time with no one checking up on them, very unhappy with this care home, only good thing I can say about it all is that the chef does amazing food.
My Mother has been in Oxford Manor for over a Year, When she arrived from another carehome she was very unwell, and with much less capacity than she has now. With the encouragement and support from the brilliant careteam she is now doing really well. She's now really happy, Well looked after and embracing her what has to be life nearer to all her family. We as a family can't thank the carehome enough for the transformation and independence she now has.
My grandparents stayed here for a respite stay in January and received terrible care. My nan ended up in hospital and my grandad died of an infection the day after we were able to get him home. Please avoid- we were promised the best care and it ended up being a nightmare for us.
When Mum first arrived she was very unwell, but due to the support and input of staff she has recovered well.
I am very happy that my uncle has moved to Oxford Manor, the staff have been wonderful and made my wife feel very welcome. I would recommend this home to anyone who's looking for care.
I am very happy here. They're all very kind to me and friendly and I like it when they come in for a chat. It's nice having people around. I'm very comfortable and I like my room. I like the view, not another house in sight, just the fields. You don't get that these days.
My Mother had a lovely time (on a mixed floor of residents with dementia and non-dementia) during her respite stay. She was well cared for, ate well, and actually wanted to stay on when I asked if she wanted to come home now!
Our visit to the care home was lovely and the young man made the experience even more special. I am so thankful for all the staff there for looking after my friend. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit.
My mother has just finished a two-week respite care stay at Alma Barn Lodge. The initial assessment was conducted by the manager at my mother's house, and she was extremely focused and empathetic towards my mother. From the moment we stepped into the home we found the staff to be very friendly and professional. My mother received flowers and a welcome card which was a lovely touch, and she felt well supported throughout her stay. There was always a calm atmosphere in the place, the residents looked relaxed, and there was always a high turnout for the many activities arranged for them. Being a purpose-built home, the facilities were of a very high standard, there was lots of space both inside and outside in the gardens. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. It is a care home where every member of staff really cares.
Visited a long-time friend of the family and she looked so happy and well. She was dressed like she always used to be. Thank you to the brilliant staff for looking after her. We will be back to visit her soon.
Thank you for the kindness shown to our dear friend. Couldn't ask for kinder staff and a management team. Clean, professional, lovely sized bedroom. She is always happy and connected when we visit. Could not recommend highly enough.
Excellent care at Alma Barn. Friendly staff who know all of the residents well and give them attention. Great range of activities for residents to join in with. My relative is happy and doing well here.
My mother was in Alma Barn from July 22 until March 24. The nurses and carers worked really hard but never had enough time to do more than the basic care. My mother had no mental stimulation at all and had little engagement with anyone. That could have been blamed on her Alzheimer's but since moving to a new home, she is a very different person. She's happy now and laughs a lot, sings, feeds herself (which she hasn't done in years) and chats all the time. I wish I'd moved her out of Alma Barn much sooner than I did.
The staff at Alma Barn are excellent, very professional and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and my mother is in safe hands we have no worries knowing Mum is being looked after and cared for. Alma Barn is a lovely care home. Staff are available 24/7.
My husband was a resident for 19 months. He was always treated professionally, respectfully, and competently standards in other areas were variable. However, in the latter months, my husband became increasingly ill and the staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. He was treated with genuine kindness. The care given was second to none. All the staff at Alma Barn are truly kind, gentle, and professional. They deliver personalised care to all individuals. My husband was lucky to know them.
My mother has been a resident at Alma Barn Lodge Care Home since November 2022. She has received good individual care over subsequent months and it was therefore an easier decision for my father to join her in the home when he could no longer be cared for in his own house. There have clearly been challenging times for the Lodge as has been the case across the sector, but staff and local management have really tried very hard to do their best for residents, and we have been happy as a family tom commit to them going forward.
My parents spent two weeks in Alma Barn, having respite care and I was very pleased with the kindness of the staff. My parents wanted to be able to sleep in the same room as they do at home and much trouble was taken to make a bedroom with two comfortable beds in one room with a sitting room next door. The rooms were clean and well appointed and as they were up on the second floor, the views were wonderful, which my father appreciated particularly. The food was good and they were well looked after. Thank you Alma Barn for making our first experience of respite care a positive one.
