View Full Details of Chelmsford Care CentreThis review is based on my direct experience of my Dad's care. I find the staff caring, organised, kind & efficient. I am satisfied that my Dad is being looked after & respected. In particular - activities lady & nurses plus the care lead are fantastic! We are grateful.
My Dad moved to this care home in December 2024 and thankfully left at the beginning of May. Our experience was very poor! It also left us distressed by our experience. Myself and my Step Mum witnessed staff repeatedly ignoring residents who were trying to communicate with them, asking to go to the loo or who were in distress, we saw staff scrolling on social media and laughing and joking amongst themselves whilst the residents were ignored. Mealtimes were chaotic and the quality of food poor. There were also staff with limited English, this impacted the residents directly and also had a negative effect on paperwork that staff needed to complete. My Dad's teeth were not brushed regularly and he was left in dirty clothes. There were often occasions when there was no soap or loo roll in the toilets. His belongings were just screwed up in draws in his room. It was very difficult to contact the home by phone, calls were not returned. Concerns were addressed in the first instant but poor practice quickly resumed. There are a few good carers in this home but a lot of lazy staff who like to blame each other rather than work as a team. My Dad has come back to life since leaving and moving to an excellent care home. There is new management at this home and hopefully the service will improve. Visit your loved ones regularly and challenge!
My wife has been here for seven months. My early reservations about medical care were overcome and I am now very happy that my wife is being cared for well. The staff display excellent loving care and she loves being here.
My husband has been a resident in the care home from late 2023 and I attend on a daily basis. The unit manager, care staff and nurses are excellent carrying out the care of residents with respect, dignity and kindness despite the challenging circumstances. Activity staff have worked hard to give residents stimulating & positive experiences with daily activities and outside acts. The home also celebrates important dates in the calendar as well as residents birthdays. I can only praise the staff for their support and kindness not only to my husband but to the whole of my family.
My wife was moved from her previous care home because they could not provide the one-to-one care she needed due to her aggression. She settled at CCC very quickly and, after a few weeks, the staff had clearly got used to her and seem genuinely fond of her. She has been in CCC for 6 months now and there is always a warm welcome when I visit, help is on hand if I ask for it but they are also happy for me to care for her while I'm there. As hard as leaving her is, I know she is looked after and cared for when I'm not there which is all I ask. The place is lovely, more like a hotel than a Care home, and well looked after. The rooms are spacious and welcoming and the food is good and plentiful. As much as I hate not being able to live and grow old together, I at least have the peace of mind of knowing that she is looked after far better than I could look after her. Thank you Chelmsford Care Centre.
My wife is treated with respect & understanding of her worsening condition. Staff are both kind & friendly. The home allows myself & family unlimited access & in so doing enables us to continue a close & much appreciated relationship. My wife, by choice, is not a keen participant of activities.
My dad was admitted to the Garden Unit Feb 24. He had late stages dementia and was very aggressive at times. I visited every day and only witnessed kindness and patience to all of the residents, including my dad. The staff were all very nice and friendly. Towards the end of his life I felt involved in all decisions and was kept involved in all decisions, made to feel welcome by both day and night staff to visit at all times of the day and night. I also felt confident to leave my dad, knowing the staff would contact me regarding any changes
My dad (with later stage dementia & recovering from aspiration pneumonia) was sent here from hospital.I witnessed him being given medication from the floor after he had spat it out.The nurse picked it up and put it back into his mouth.I thought this must have been a one off ,but she then proceeded to do it to the second patient who spat hers out also. This was raised with management & I was told it wasn't good enough & the nurse wouldn't be staying at the home. The floor manager said she wished to get rid of her &wanted it in writing so it would help her do this (?!) Only to find a few days later her still administering meds. Many occasions dad was given the wrong thickness food/drink.I witnessed this a lot with other patients on restricted diets also. The chef would often shout at the staff (often agency)as they weren't checking before putting the meals in front of the patients.Dads swallow reflux deteriorated but they would not arrange for a specialist to help dad unless I pushed for it
I can't express enough gratitude for the exceptional care my father receives at Chelmsford Care Centre, in particular "Lillibet Zone" from the manager and her incredible team. After my father's brain haemorrhage, we were understandably worried about his recovery, but the manager and her team truly went above and beyond to make him feel at home. They became like family to him, offering not only professional medical support but emotional care that gave him a sense of purpose and dignity. The dedication and kindness that the entire team shows him is beyond anything that we could hope for. It's clear that the team at Chelmsford Care Centre genuinely cares about each resident's well-being, and we as a family are so thankful for the positive impact they have had on my father's life. We will forever be grateful for the care and support he receives from everyone there.
I can't thank the care staff enough for the care my dad receives. He finally looks at ease with everybody. This happened within days of him being with you. You see him as my dad and not the awful condition he has and you see the world through his eyes. I will forever be thankful to you all.
My father was a resident at Chelsmford Care Centre for three months towards the end of 2024 and I have been delighted with the high standards of care and support he received during this time. The staff are incredible and treated my father with care, support and dignity. They are clearly passionate in what they do and treat the the service users with warmth and kindness. They were always very welcoming and friendly when visiting and were able to converse about my father when required. The building itself is situated in a lovely country setting and very secure. It was always clean and well-maintained and the food always looked and smelt delicious.
My brother came into Chelmsford Care Centre after a long stay in hospital. Initially I was disappointed he hadn't returned to his previous care home but I now know he is in the right place. Staff are kind and caring, the room is kept beautifully clean and tidy. Staff are observant and problems he may have are dealt with promptly. I feel that he is safe and treated with respect and dignity. Home is well led and having been a nurse myself, I'm pleased with the high standard of this care facility - outstanding.
My brother was transferred by the local hospital to the Care Centre at very short notice and against my wishes. On my initial visit, I waited while a carer prepared my brother and settled him into his room. When my brother was ready, a nurse went in to see him. She was very concerned about his physical state and that special food hadn't come with him from the hospital, Nor was there any transfer/handover information. I went and brought food back from the hospital while the nurse dealt with sorting out medication. I returned as the wing manager was going home but she returned into the home with me to sort out the food. I was impressed by the manager's approach but also by the duty nurse, who struck me as very focused on ensuring her patient's priorities were addressed. Over several visits the main duty nurses have always been thorough and have come up with improvement suggestions of their own, and communicate updates and changes clearly, which is welcome.
Thank you all for making my mum so comfortable in her new environment. Especially to the manager who understood when I required my mum to change rooms which was performed immediately with the staffs assistance.
My dad has recently completed a short recuperation placement in the Lilibet Unit at this excellent care centre following a stay in hospital. He has received fantastic care throughout at what has been an emotional time for all the family. The whole team - care staff, nurses, management, maintenance, reception, laundry and kitchen - all went out of their way to make Dad's stay as comfortable as possible and as a family we couldn't have felt more supported throughout. The care team have shown kindness, compassion, respect and dignity at all times, along with the required bucketloads of patience. They are complete gems who do a very difficult job with a smile on their face always and with kindness for everyone. We cannot recommend the centre highly enough - Thank you all so much!
We found the staff to be very caring and friendly. The care given was excellent, which made my stepdad's stay very stress-free, in fact, he was sad to leave the staff when his stay ended.
This nursing home is outstanding. The most caring, helpful team anyone could wish for.
My mum has just left Chelmsford Care Centre having spent the past 7 months in their care. I cannot thank the management and staff enough for their wonderful, kind and compassionate treatment of my mum. They took the time to get to know her and welcomed us all, family and friends whenever we visited her. I received so much support and advice at a difficult time, and for that I am very grateful. It was a sad day when Mum finally left Chelmsford Care Centre to go to her new care home. Thank you all so much.
Entering a care home after a daunting experience sometimes feels like trying to see through s dense mist. My wife entered their care in July 2023. As the mist clears away, I now see a truer picture of my wife's care and mind we had received. Unfortunately now moving on to a new provider, we hope to receive the same pleasant experience as got from this home. A pleasant and willing-to-help atmosphere greeted us, not easily seen at the time of entry, which became clearer later. The lasting commitment of care from care/nursing staff to do their best, for our loved ones, becomes apparent soon after arrival, this also gave me comfort and support. All of this was effortlessly performed without any fuss, with diligence to their work and surroundings. All care given is acknowledged with compassion, reassurance, and a compassionate smile, banter is there to keep all residents' spirits up which is sometimes the best treatment. If you are still feeling unsure about this home, check out with them about any concerns you may have. We have a genuine reluctance to move away, from their care, and hope you will receive the same standard of excellent care.
I would thoroughly recommend Chelmsford Care Centre! I was impressed from the moment I entered the home. I felt a connection immediately. The management was so understanding and compassionate, that I felt my husband was in very good and experienced hands. My husband was given 1st class care, compassion, and total dignity by very pleasant carers. Being allowed to stay over when I felt the need was wonderful. Consequently, I was with my husband until the very end, which was so comforting
