View Full Details of Barchester Hazel Lodge Care HomeMy visits to Hazel Lodge, regarding my mother moving in, have always been so positive. The staff are continually welcoming and understanding. They took great care in meeting my mother's needs and gave us time to consider our decision. The rooms are perfect with clean ensuite bathrooms and many activities and facilities to use. Mum is feeling safe, comfortable and well looked after. Everywhere is clean and easy to walk around with a walker or wheelchair. The gardens are neat and tidy and again easily accessed for visitors and residents to enjoy. The Bistro provides lovely cake and hot drinks all day, every day which is a kind gesture for us all to use and enjoy. Our family feel we have found a place where mum is treated very well by staff who always know what her day has been like and they communicate efficiently regarding her needs and desires. This happens whenever we visit or by a text or phone all if a little more urgent. This all helps us as a family.
My aunt has been a resident at Hazel Lodge for around a year. We are extremely happy with the care she receives. She is treated with respect, kindness and friendship. Her health and mobility have improved under their care. The home is extremely well run, always immaculately clean and the staff are welcoming and accommodating. The food is of a very high standard, and residents and guests have the use of a communal ' cafe' to socialise. My aunt has benefited from the in house hairdressing, nail technician and activities. We would recommend Hazel Lodge unreservedly.
My Mother has been at Hazel Lodge for 8 months now and she is receiving the type of care that we could not give her at home. Her days are now filled with companionship and activities in a safe and caring environment. She recently visited Beauport Park golf club with members of the Barchester team and played a few holes. Seeing the photos on Socials brought a tear to my eye, Mum looked so happy and it was good to see that she still has it. A big thank you to the team that arranged this and we look forward to the next time she gets to do something she has loved for many years.
Every time we visit Hazel Lodge, the staff are consistently warm, friendly, and incredibly supportive. Their compassion for the residents truly stands out. The home itself is beautifully decorated and impeccably clean-more like a five-star hotel than a care facility. I would wholeheartedly recommend Hazel Lodge to anyone looking for a care home in or around Battle.
Hazel Lodge has given my sister and I peace of mind after the emotional loss of our father and the huge upheaval of moving our mother out of her family home. It's such a difficult time when a loved one moves into care but the warm, attentive team at Hazel Lodge have put our minds at ease every step of the way. Mum's days are now filled with fun activities and companionship from the other residents and wonderful care team. We know she is safe and warm, and it's lovely to have her nearby again. Family members can visit whenever it suits and are always encouraged to join in when the home goes to great lengths to mark special occasions. Hazel Lodge stood out for us when it comes to the building itself - being purpose built it boasts spacious, light filled rooms and common areas, balconies off the dining areas and lounges, and a sunny, enclosed garden. Mum loves to spend time in the bistro on the ground floor watching people come and go whilst listening to the radio and drinking tea!
Arrived at Hazel Lodge just a few days before Xmas until the New Year 2025. The first thing to say is how welcome I was made, next, we were shown to my room, which was clean and tidy as it was when we (my sister and I visited). Had dinner sitting with just one other person. In the afternoon after sorting out my clothes, I spent sitting in the coffee lounge talking to the other residents. Upset a resident for the stupidest of reasons at supper time, and even so I enjoyed the meal. What I enjoyed about my stay was that there was something going on every single day, three times per day. Wonderful, because where I stayed last year there was Nothing. You only knew it was Xmas when your dinner arrived. All through my stay, I had good food. Good company. The staff, both carers and domestic were caring and friendly also willing to do anything (within reason) for me. The whole care home was clean, warm, and very friendly. And yes I would go back.
After a sudden illness over Christmas I arranged for my dad to have a week long's respite at Hazel Lodge as he recovered. The hospital assessment was promptly arranged and the carer who came to see dad was reassuring and quashed any worries he had about going to a care home. The bedrooms and shared spaces are very well done. The food is fresh and there is a good variety of dishes (catering for low fat as well), whilst the dining area provides a nice space for social connection for the residents. The staff are both caring and professional, as they managed all his medication and physical obs when he first arrived and stayed proactive about checking in with him to make sure he had what he needed as the week progressed.
Comfortable accommodation. Staff are friendly and caring. Food fair. Activities are a bit childish (sticking coloured paper into books).
From the first time we visited Barchester Hazel Lodge Care Home with my godmother the atmosphere was attentive and pleasant staff with what came across as caring natures. The home itself is beautiful, new and has facilities that make it exceptional. I was particularly struck by a phone call I received from the person who manages the residents activities who wanted a more detailed picture of my godmother so they could personalise the activities she would enjoy doing. Each time I ring and ask to speak to who is caring for my godmother during that week I am always given a welcome synopsis of how she is and how she is settling into her new way of life.
It has been a great relief to see my stepmother so well looked after and cared for. Barchester Hazel Lodge Care Home provides a lovely warm, welcoming and comfortable environment and the staff could not be more helpful. We feel completely reassured that she is being well looked after and kept safe and comfortable.
Our mum has been treated with respect, care and dignity. The family (we) have been treated with kindness and care and Barchester Hazel Lodge Care Home staff have helped us enormously to navigate the world of elderly care and dementia, we had been very isolated in trying to work things out. They not only cared for our mum, they cared about us and things are ongoing. As things unfold, we feel they are supporting us on this journey.
Atmosphere in the home is loving and friendly and reassuring when one is a hesitant newcomer. I feel one can both take and give and feel part of the "whole".
My mother came to Barchester Hazel Lodge Care Home a very lonely, unhappy lady. She is a different person now. All the care, attention and making her realise life is for living. Thank you so much to all the staff for their kindness.
Following a fall my wife spent two weeks of respite care in Hazel Lodge. Her experience far exceeded our expectations. Hazel Lodge is bright, modern and spotlessly clean. My wife's individual en suite room was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. However, the outstanding feature was the support from individual members of staff: efficient, courteous, genuinely friendly and always ready to help. Indeed the respite experience was characterised by comfort, security and friendliness. My thanks to all at Hazel Lodge for helping us through a difficult time.
Spent several weeks looking for a care home suited to my mother’s needs. (Alzheimer’s). Hazel Lodge is purpose-built with lovely rooms and facilities, which are decorated and presented to a high standard. The interior decor is bright and modern - presented like a high-class Hotel environment. There is one whole floor designated for residents with dementia. This is presented in the same way as the other floors and residents can mix with people on other floors as they choose. My mother has only been at Hazel Lodge for 6 weeks, but we are very pleased with the care she has received so far. All staff are friendly, patient and helpful and seem very aware of residents' needs. Numerous activities are available for residents daily, and my mother has received the interaction she needs to make her life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We are looking forward to better weather when hopefully she will enjoy the garden.
Good and caring service, very helpful to me as a husband for short-term respite. The food is very good and varied, activities varied and inclusive and the staff helpful and caring. The facilities are excellent.
My mother needed respite care after a period of illness and I’m pleased to say she’s fully recovered and back in rude health. Her recovery is very much down to the care and attention she received from the marvelous staff at Hazel Lodge, their good humor and patience are infectious and very much set the tone for this home. My mum received some truly excellent care, at 90 she’s already earmarked a return if she needs support in the future. Really faultless experience.
We were welcomed and made to feel at home in a warm and extremely comfortable environment. The staff were polite and attentive. The room was large, bright and with a lovely garden view. All together the experience was made to feel like being cared for in a great place.
I went to Hazel Lodge for a week's respite care, after having a rather traumatic year. I felt very well looked after and enjoyed meals with other residents and the entertainment and exercises laid on. My room was comfortable, though the lighting was not good for reading. I also feel that the wet room shower is a bit unnerving without a seat. I did find that waste bins were not emptied during the week. Overall, a very pleasant time.
Hazel Lodge provided excellent care for my father. The home was beautifully furnished and spotless. All members of staff were so caring, friendly and respectful of my father and his needs. I would certainly recommend Hazel Lodge. My father is already booked in for more respite in the new year. Thank you to all the staff for making my father's stay a happy one.
