Mum has been living at Hazel Lodge for 18 months now. She was very anxious when she first arrived but soon settled in. She has lost all her anxiety and is now very content. The care and attention by all the staff is exceptional and there is always a calm, happy atmosphere. The the lovely bistro and garden are very relaxing areas to spend time with family and friends. I would recommend Hazel Lodge to anyone looking for care for a loved one.

My mother has been residing at Hazel Lodge for 18 months now and celebrated her 100th birthday this month (March). She had a wonderful day with family, friends and carers. Everything went smoothly and well, from setting up the room for the champagne tea party, the carers making Mum look special in her birthday glad rags and the delicious food provided by Chef and his kitchen. Thank you all at Hazel Lodge for making sure this was a very special day to remember.

My mum stayed at Hazel Lodge for a couple of weeks for a respite following an operation. The facilities are excellent and it's a lovely environment with plenty of social interactions in the dining room and lounge area. The staff were fantastic but a bit stretched at times. She would happily return to Hazel Lodge should she need care support in the future.

Having made the difficult decision to move Mum into residential care, I was so impressed with the care offered at Hazel Lodge. 6 months on, I cannot fault it. The staff are unfailingly kind, empathetic and caring. There is always something on each day, with a clear focus on "use it or lose it." This has kept Mum mobile and using her mind. Scheduled Dr's rounds give me reassurance that Mums medical needs are taken of. The food is freshly cooked and varied. Due to the onsite kitchen and chef, there is always something that Mum will eat. The grounds are lovely and everything is well kept.

I cannot recommend this home enough.

Hazel Lodge was my Mothers first stay in a care home and she was very apprehensive but she enjoyed her stay for respite, especially the food and an outing to Bexhill on the mini-bus. She said all the staff were very nice and very kind.

Dad moved to Hazel Lodge October 2025 and settled in quickly. All staff are polite, caring and very helpful and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Hazel Lodge is beautifully decorated throughout and has a lovely garden. Dad is looking forward to the spring/summer when he can read his newspaper outside.
Refreshments are always available in the bistro/cafe area, including home made cake available to all.
The food is excellent and the restaurant area is clean and very smart. Bedrooms are comfortable having TV and an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower.
Hazel Lodge prepares a weekly activity sheet informing residents of activities during the coming week. They also have a mini bus to use for trips in and around the Battle area. I was so pleased, if not a little surprised, that Dad decided to join in right from the start! Feedback from management and staff on Dad's progress was most welcome.

I would recommend Hazel Lodge to anyone considering a care home for their loved one.

Bright and attractive. As comfortable as a top-class hotel!
Such friendliness and compassion is shown by all staff, the chef, reception, managers and the 'all important' carers.

The garden is designed for ease of access for a regular walk and fresh air. Colourful plants, even in late Autumn. The lounge is a lovely area to chat over cake and coffee. I go home totally reassured that John is being left in a place where he is so well cared for. His dementia needs are being met, and he is calmer and happier being in Hazel Lodge. 100% respect and care beyond the basics. I recommend HL. Very comfortable bedrooms, 'like home'.

I am so pleased mum spent the last year and a half at Hazel Lodge. It is smart, clean and a welcoming Home, with lovely decor and a very nice garden. Mum was on Memory Lane on the first floor and I like the fact that there are also balconies to sit on so you don't feel cooped up . Mum's room was very comfortable with a lovely ensuite shower room. The most important thing though is having the reassurance your loved one is being looked after properly. All the staff at Hazel Lodge are fantastic. They were patient and kind with mum and It was always possible to find out how mum's day was if not possible to visit. There are great activities organised and although she didn't get involved all the time, she was reminded and encouraged to take part when there was live music or dancing which she loved. We will always be very grateful Hazel Lodge was recommended to us and I would also not hesitate in recommending it!

From the very first phone call to Hazel Lodge to arrange a tour, I cannot fault the care, kindness and professionalism of all those concerned with the recent admission of my friend. I sense everyone is sincere and dedicated to ensuring as smooth a transition as possible for new residents in what can be unsettling times for them. It has a homely atmosphere with all the added extras to set it apart from other homes. As a friend I too have felt supported and have come away from visits with peace of mind, knowing that Hazel Lodge will be looking after my friend in every way that I would wish for myself in similar circumstances.

My visits to Hazel Lodge, regarding my mother moving in, have always been so positive. The staff are continually welcoming and understanding. They took great care in meeting my mother's needs and gave us time to consider our decision.
The rooms are perfect with clean ensuite bathrooms and many activities and facilities to use. Mum is feeling safe, comfortable and well looked after. Everywhere is clean and easy to walk around with a walker or wheelchair. The gardens are neat and tidy and again easily accessed for visitors and residents to enjoy. The Bistro provides lovely cake and hot drinks all day, every day which is a kind gesture for us all to use and enjoy.

Our family feel we have found a place where mum is treated very well by staff who always know what her day has been like and they communicate efficiently regarding her needs and desires. This happens whenever we visit or by a text or phone all if a little more urgent. This all helps us as a family.

My aunt has been a resident at Hazel Lodge for around a year. We are extremely happy with the care she receives. She is treated with respect, kindness and friendship. Her health and mobility have improved under their care.
The home is extremely well run, always immaculately clean and the staff are welcoming and accommodating.
The food is of a very high standard, and residents and guests have the use of a communal ' cafe' to socialise. My aunt has benefited from the in house hairdressing, nail technician and activities.

We would recommend Hazel Lodge unreservedly.

My Mother has been at Hazel Lodge for 8 months now and she is receiving the type of care that we could not give her at home. Her days are now filled with companionship and activities in a safe and caring environment.
She recently visited Beauport Park golf club with members of the Barchester team and played a few holes.

Seeing the photos on Socials brought a tear to my eye, Mum looked so happy and it was good to see that she still has it. A big thank you to the team that arranged this and we look forward to the next time she gets to do something she has loved for many years.

Every time we visit Hazel Lodge, the staff are consistently warm, friendly, and incredibly supportive. Their compassion for the residents truly stands out. Hazel Lodge has given my sister and I peace of mind after the emotional loss of our father and the huge upheaval of moving our mother out of her family home. It's such a difficult time when a loved one moves into care but the warm, attentive team at Hazel Lodge have put our minds at ease every step of the way.
Mum's days are now filled with fun activities and companionship from the other residents and wonderful care team. We know she is safe and warm, and it's lovely to have her nearby again.
Family members can visit whenever it suits and are always encouraged to join in when the home goes to great lengths to mark special occasions.

Hazel Lodge stood out for us when it comes to the building itself - being purpose built it boasts spacious, light filled rooms and common areas, balconies off the dining areas and lounges, and a sunny, enclosed garden. Mum loves to spend time in the bistro on the ground floor watching people come and go whilst listening to the radio and drinking tea!

Arrived at Hazel Lodge just a few days before Xmas until the New Year 2025. The first thing to say is how welcome I was made, next, we were shown to my room, which was clean and tidy as it was when we (my sister and I visited). Had dinner sitting with just one other person. In the afternoon after sorting out my clothes, I spent sitting in the coffee lounge talking to the other residents. Upset a resident for the stupidest of reasons at supper time, and even so I enjoyed the meal. What I enjoyed about my stay was that there was something going on every single day, three times per day. Wonderful, because where I stayed last year there was Nothing. You only knew it was Xmas when your dinner arrived. All through my stay, I had good food. Good company. The staff, both carers and domestic were caring and friendly also willing to do anything (within reason) for me. The whole care home was clean, warm, and very friendly. And yes I would go back.

After a sudden illness over Christmas I arranged for my dad to have a week long's respite at Hazel Lodge as he recovered. The hospital assessment was promptly arranged and the carer who came to see dad was reassuring and quashed any worries he had about going to a care home. The bedrooms and shared spaces are very well done. The food is fresh and there is a good variety of dishes (catering for low fat as well), whilst the dining area provides a nice space for social connection for the residents. The staff are both caring and professional, as they managed all his medication and physical obs when he first arrived and stayed proactive about checking in with him to make sure he had what he needed as the week progressed.

From the first time we visited Barchester Hazel Lodge Care Home with my godmother the atmosphere was attentive and pleasant staff with what came across as caring natures.
The home itself is beautiful, new and has facilities that make it exceptional.
I was particularly struck by a phone call I received from the person who manages the residents activities who wanted a more detailed picture of my godmother so they could personalise the activities she would enjoy doing.

Each time I ring and ask to speak to who is caring for my godmother during that week I am always given a welcome synopsis of how she is and how she is settling into her new way of life.
