I join others with my loved one with dementia once a month at this care home for singing. We are made very welcome, the staff are lovely accommodating fantastic, and the tea coffee and cakes afterwards are excellent. Definitely, my choice when the time comes for care.

My mother came into Hazel Lodge on short-term care at the beginning of May following a collapsed vertebrae. Once the family had all seen it and totally approved in every respect it didn't take much persuading for her to accept that this was the best place for her long term. It is like a 5-star hotel but with the total care and respect of an extended family. The staff on all levels go out of their way to accommodate whatever is needed, and to assure the residents are happy and healthy, nothing is too much trouble. Whereas she was spending her days on her own with only the TV as company she now has a full daily schedule with something going on every day, Mum tells us all that she is so busy with all the first-class entertainment and thoroughly enjoying it. A perfect home.

We are so pleased that Mum has decided to stay with us and is enjoying the activities and entertainment within the home. We really do appreciate you taking the time to leave us this lovely review and for giving us your feedback.

I went into Hazel Lodge for two weeks of respite care having recently lost my wife. The staff were very sympathetic to my position and offered care and comfort whenever I required it. The home has only recently opened (November 2022) and although it will happily cater for more residents, everything looks promising as time goes by. If I were looking for further respite or full-time care in the future I wouldn't hesitate to return to Hazel Lodge Care Home.

I looked at other options before deciding on Hazel Lodge Care Home for my mother. In my opinion, she is very well looked after and I am kept well informed of how things are going. Staff, at all levels and in all professions, are friendly and helpful and I feel that she is in very good hands.

I have been physically and psychologically looked after for 2 weeks. I have found the care staff outstandingly kind and patient, always helpful and reassuring. The place is clean and comfortable. The only criticism I have is that the lighting is not very convenient for a bedbound patient.

Reply from Sharon Ward, Home Services Advisor at Barchester Hazel Lodge Care Home

Many thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback, which is essential to us giving people the very best experience whilst staying with us. Following our chat, I have already fed back regarding the overbed lighting so that we can find a solution so thank you again for making us aware of this....

My mum went to Hazel Lodge for two weeks of respite care following a fall and short stay in hospital. It was a very difficult time for all of us but Hazel Lodge really helped her get on the road to recovery. The whole process was amazingly easy to set up, I went to see the care home an hour after my initial enquiry and all the liaison in the logistics of getting my mum there was very smooth.

The facilities are fantastic, it is more like a five-star hotel than a care home. But most importantly the staff were wonderful. Every single person was really kind and took such good care of my mum who was in a lot of pain and very anxious. They really helped her gain confidence so she was ready to come home and continue recovering. They were also brilliant at keeping me informed and always had a cup of tea ready for me when I visited! My mum is already talking about going back for some more respite care when we go on holiday since she felt so well cared for.

Overall Experience
What an incredible home on every level. The facilities are exceptional, from the rooms to the communal areas it has the feel of a luxurious, immaculate home.
It offers residents a beautiful environment where they can retain independence whilst having the certainty of the caring staff at hand if needed. They can visit the hairdresser, the cinema, and the dining room and participate in the many activities if they so wish.
My aunt has flourished since moving to Hazel Lodge Care Home she has stimulation and her every need is catered for, including even her favourite tipple which she can enjoy at both lunch and dinner. I can honestly say that she is extremely happy and looking forward to enjoying the gardens in the warmer months.
The attention to detail here is exceptional, the staff are incredibly caring and friendly, and nothing is too much trouble.

If you are looking for a fabulous home for your loved one I would absolutely recommend Hazel Lodge.

The staff are outstanding for their personal interest, kindness and compassion shown to Dad, which enabled him to settle in straight away.
