View Full Details of Lark View Care HomeMy Mother was a resident at Lark View for the last year of her life. She passed away recently, and I wanted to share our family's experience during her end of life care here. Firstly, our family is so relieved we didn't opt for hospice care. Mum was so comfortable, kept pain-free and had all the sweet, loving faces around her she had known from the very beginning. During her final days, the support we received was incredible. The team provided comfort care not just to my Mother, but to our entire family, ensuring a peaceful transition. While saying goodbye was incredibly difficult, the care provided by Lark View allowed her to pass with peace and dignity. I highly recommend this care home to anyone seeking compassionate care for their loved ones. We are forever grateful for their presence and guidance, and cannot thank them enough for the love that we continue to receive two weeks after Mum passed.
I truly don't know where to start with this amazing place. From the assessments completed by George & Lizzie to the arrival at the home and the ongoing care provided. Lark View is a home like no other. The staff cannot care enough, they talk to every resident like they're a person and not a patient. You can often walk down the corridor when visiting and find carers in rooms chatting with residents. The activities are engaging and for residents that cannot always join in, they'll go the extra mile to do a one two one activity. My mum has sadly been unwell for a few weeks and in hospital, so Lizzie & Stacey went above and beyond to visit her in hospital. Stacey then noted how bored mum was so took her a portable DVD player. Lizzie has made constant check-ins both with the hospital and myself. I've never met anyone quite as caring as Lizzie she'll check how I am coping with Mum being in hospital not just on Mum. Lark View truly are lucky to have such an incredible clinical lead.
From the moment we visited Lark View Care Home, we knew we would be transferring our mother there. Everyone who works there always has a friendly smile on their face and are so very welcoming. The garden areas are calming and peaceful, meticulously planned so that everyone can enjoy maximum sensory experiences. Lark View is elegantly furnished throughout, including our mother's bedroom and en-suite wet room. There are many activities to enhance our mother's physical, social and emotional well-being. The food offered is just delicious. We often take our mother down to the ground floor lounge when we visit, whereby we always enjoy a luxury hot chocolate, latte or other hot/cold drinks, along with freshly cooked cakes!! Lark View is just the most beautifully nurturing place with amazingly dedicated staff that really care about making a difference to the lives of all residents, including our mother. It's lovely to see the close relationships she has formed, and how happy she is. Thank you.
My mum was a resident at Lark View for a year. From day one she loved her room and the staff. Dementia is a horrible condition to cope with and at times, my mum's behaviour was extremely difficult to manage, but the staff were always professional and caring and always kept me up to date with treatments, appointments and any issues. We were made to feel so welcome when we visited, from Kerry and Julie on reception to Kerry and George on the ground floor and Pete (or Clever Trevor as mum called him) to all the staff on Marlowe floor (too many to mention by name). We were all so grateful for the care mum received to the extent that we arranged for her funeral procession to leave from Lark View, 10 members of staff came down to see mum off and 4 came to the service which meant so much to us. Lark View was more than just a care home and we will be forever grateful for that. Mark
From my first visit to Lark View my family and I were made so welcome. My mother was only a resident for a few months but the care she received was exemplary, the staff took time talking to her which she enjoyed. She made friends with other residents and looked forward to joining them in the dining room each day. During my mother's final week at Lark View the compassion shown to her and our family was far more than we expected.
My husband is currently receiving respite dementia care at Lark View. I viewed a range of care homes in the area and instantly knew Lark View was where I would be happy to place my husband. Lark View provides such a warm welcome and staff are caring, compassionate and professional. They have been focused on understanding his needs and getting to know him and what makes him feel relaxed and happy. Nothing is too much trouble. His room is perfect and has beautiful views which includes a period house and an oast house. Cleanliness is a high priority and good support is given to keep his room a special and comfortable place to enjoy. My husband often tells staff just how much he appreciates them and how kind they are. I have no hesitation in highly recommending the facilities, management and staff at Lark View.
Having spent a couple of years caring for my mum who has dementia I knew I would need to find a care home for her and was dreading it. I visited quite a few and then I visited Lark View and knew it would be the best fit for her. The home is beautiful and the staff have been so kind and caring. The manager, reception staff, floor manager and carers have all been wonderful and are so caring and kind to my mum. I also get looked after when I go and visit! The transition to care was handled very well and my mum settled in quicker than I could have imagined. It is not what anyone wants, to take their mum into a care home having made that decision for her rather than her making it herself. However, with the care she is receiving she is actually happier and I feel safe in the knowledge that she is being looked after and is as happy as she can be. In addition, she has some complex nutritional requirements and these have been addressed well. I can highly recommend Lark View!
I visited a number of care homes looking for somewhere for my uncle in early June 2024. As I live 3 hours away I was very concerned about finding the best home for him with no local knowledge but Lark View has such a homely, caring feel to it, I knew almost instantly that I'd found the right place for him. My uncle moved in just over a week later and thankfully he totally agreed with my decision. The staff have been caring and compassionate from the start as you would hope and expect. The facilities are good and he's made friends and joined in with pretty much every activity going. He's happy, settled and I know he's being cared for. Every single visitor he has had has made a point of telling me how wonderful they think Lark View is and how at home he seems. It's made the transition from independent living to needing that extra TLC much easier for my uncle and the wider family. We can thoroughly recommend Lark View.
I have nothing but praise for Lark View. Their high-quality care, dedication and compassion have transformed the wellbeing of my mother who is now enjoying life after an unhappy period. The home is clean, safe and welcoming. I highly recommend the home and the team that work there.
Moving Mum to Lark View, her 6th care home in 7 years, has been life-changing for her! I cannot praise it enough, from reception, through to carers, the chef & managers. The decor & facilities are beautiful & spotless. It is welcoming, caring, individual & well-organised. On arrival Mum was taken off most medication, appearing to be over-sedated. She has gone from being uncommunicative, depressed, drowsy & barely eating, to chatty, happy, engaging in activities & loving her food again. Meals are inspirational, appetising & served in restaurant style, with 1:1 when needed. Time is spent matching outfits with jewellery to make her feel like a queen & the hour spent with the hairdresser has taken years off her. On my first visit (5 hours!) I was encouraged to be part of everything she does 'like one big family'. Visits are followed up with an email offering a chance to ask questions or raise queries. After only 3 weeks here, Mum is the happiest we've seen her for literally a few years!
I cannot tell you how much I truly appreciate Lark View. My father is "happy" and "contented". He says "this is a good place". He tells me and the staff themselves how "great" they are. The kindness, caring, warmth, compassion, supportiveness, approachability, readiness to listen, friendliness and willingness to help. A safe place with a loving soul, excellent food, lovely rooms, spaces, places and good people. Everyone has made my father so welcome. He has new friends. Has joined in new things. Not only do I feel, believe, and know that my father is cared about, as an individual, by absolutely everyone, but I feel cared about too.
