My Dad was looked after very well at Acer Lodge. He had complex care needs which were met in full by the nurses and carers with sensitivity and kindness. When he became ill and needed end of life care the team were able to manage this with dignity and compassion. He died peacefully. The managers,
nurses and care staff were always polite, attentive and addressed all the family's concerns. His room was very comfortable, private and well equiped. We were able to make it homely for him. He was very happy to be looked after in Acer Lodge.

We really struggled when looking for a care home for Mum as we wanted somewhere that was aesthetically pleasing but also met mums needs. As Mum has Alzheimers she needed care but also constant company and entertaining. Acer Lodge in Blackburn was the only care home that we considered met all mums
needs. The entertainment is second to none, more like being in a hotel rather than a care home! Tony is amazing when it comes to planning activities. The food is really good, home cooked and plenty of choice. And the staff are all welcoming and friendly. Mum is very settled and has even made her own group of friends, which is lovely to see. I would strongly recommend Acer Lodge Care Home, Blackburn to anyone.

My mum has been a resident of Acer Lodge since last August, and is very happy and settled there. The layout of the home is very well thought out - unlike many care homes we have visited, it has areas where residents can socialise, but also plenty of quiet spaces, and comfortable rooms where families
are welcomed and can make themselves at home. We know that no care home is perfect, but we feel that any concerns we have raised have been dealt with promptly. With the current staff, we feel that we are listened to, and our opinions valued. There is genuine care for the people who live there. The outstanding feature, which has prompted this review, is the variety of activities provided. A lot of thought goes into engaging residents in interesting and fun things to do. Tony knows everyone so well, and their families, and makes sure everyone is involved. Mum has dementia and can no longer communicate with us very well, so daily photos and updates on social media are fantastic.

Denis was brought to Acer Lodge after 3 weeks in hospital, he was welcomed in by the staff. He hasn't been an easy resident, suffering from Alzheimer's he thinks he is in his own home as he can go into other rooms. The carers are so kind to him, to us, well looked after, kept clean and tidy. Can't
praise the staff enough. Our only problem is loss of property and clothes, even though they are all named, I've had to buy new glasses and a watch.

My uncle has a life ending condition of Motor Neurone Disease, We had a very stressful and upsetting experience trying to discharge my uncle to an appropriate care facility to accommodate his needs, we had to attend many meetings to get to the appropriate safe discharge plan for him. I was given
many care homes to look at and none gave me the evidence or the criteria that was required to care for my uncles needs.
It was only when I walked into Acer Lodge did I feel reassured and confident that this would be the place I would be happy for him to be cared for. All the staff were professional, respectful and could answer any of my concerns, the warm friendly atmosphere throughout my initial viewing gave me confidence I had found the right place. I was given the opportunity to speak with nurses who would care for my uncles needs and would be happy to take advice from the Motor Neurone Disease team where he was hospitalised and work together in my uncles best interests.
