Acer Lodge

This was the first time I visited my friend at Acer Lodge. I enjoyed the visit so much, due to the staff, environment, homely and welcoming feeling. The entertainment, and residents & visitors enjoying the entertainment, was second to none! Looking forward to visit again!

Attended the talent contest. Very proffessionally organised. Plenty of music & singing which went down well with the residents.

Overall very happy with the care at Acer Lodge. Seemed to be short staffed initially however staffing levels now much better. Entertainment for residents is wonderful and inclusive. Always kept very clean and tidy. Nice environment for our loved one. Lovely home and would recommend.

Overall a very good experience. At first the staffing levels were quite low however they have now recruited more staff and levels are much better. Mum loves the entertainment and this is the highlight of her day. Love the different floors/household that have been put together to suit the temperament of the resident. It is always spotlessly clean. Food is good. Some lacking accompaniments e.g. bread roll with soup or tartar sauce with fish. Good choices.

The care home is fabulous. Welcoming, friendly staff, spotlessly clean. I love the lounge and dining/kitchen area, feels like being at home. Table settings are lovely. Bedrooms are spacious with fitted wardrobes and private en-suite. The care staff are very kind and empathetic. My friend always looks lovely when I visit. There is a great atmosphere in the home. Lots of daily activities for the residents to join in with. I would be very happy if I ever needed care, if I found myself at Acer Lodge, I can't say more than that.

What a wonderful home and great care provided, mum stayed for 2 weeks respite and was welcomed with open arms, made to feel part of everything and so well looked after - a huge thankyou to everyone involved. After looking for respite care for some time, Acer lodge was recommended and didn't disappoint, from the welcome for mum, a lovely room, fabulous cleanliness throughout, food to suit every palate and plenty of snacks and treats to the amazing team who work there and are so brilliant. Can't thank and praise you enough ( and the entertainment with Tony is outstanding )

Very happy with the care Acer Lodge other, my mum has gained another lease of life since she's been here. The entertainment and activities are excellent and my Mum enjoys them too. She also loves the food that is on other here which is cooked from fresh.

Lovely clean purpose built facility. The organised activities are very engaging and entertaining with excellent caring staff.When visiting if there are no activities I feel that sometimes there are too few staff in the day room to support all the residents needs or any confrontations when they occur.

Been to the home to visit my sister-in-law many times. Found the staff lovely and helpful. Acer Lodge is very welcoming an clean. It's a pleasure to visit.

My Dad was looked after very well at Acer Lodge. He had complex care needs which were met in full by the nurses and carers with sensitivity and kindness. When he became ill and needed end of life care the team were able to manage this with dignity and compassion. He died peacefully. The managers, nurses and care staff were always polite, attentive and addressed all the family's concerns. His room was very comfortable, private and well equiped. We were able to make it homely for him. He was very happy to be looked after in Acer Lodge.

We really struggled when looking for a care home for Mum as we wanted somewhere that was aesthetically pleasing but also met mums needs. As Mum has Alzheimers she needed care but also constant company and entertaining. Acer Lodge in Blackburn was the only care home that we considered met all mums needs. The entertainment is second to none, more like being in a hotel rather than a care home! Tony is amazing when it comes to planning activities. The food is really good, home cooked and plenty of choice. And the staff are all welcoming and friendly. Mum is very settled and has even made her own group of friends, which is lovely to see. I would strongly recommend Acer Lodge Care Home, Blackburn to anyone.

The paved path leading to the front door has loose flags that need attention.

My mum has been a resident of Acer Lodge since last August, and is very happy and settled there. The layout of the home is very well thought out - unlike many care homes we have visited, it has areas where residents can socialise, but also plenty of quiet spaces, and comfortable rooms where families are welcomed and can make themselves at home. We know that no care home is perfect, but we feel that any concerns we have raised have been dealt with promptly. With the current staff, we feel that we are listened to, and our opinions valued. There is genuine care for the people who live there. The outstanding feature, which has prompted this review, is the variety of activities provided. A lot of thought goes into engaging residents in interesting and fun things to do. Tony knows everyone so well, and their families, and makes sure everyone is involved. Mum has dementia and can no longer communicate with us very well, so daily photos and updates on social media are fantastic.

During mum's time at Acer Lodge she has been cared for with compassion and love. The staff put mum's welfare as priority but are also always there to support the family. I have been very impressed at the communication provided. I would have no hesitation in recommending Acer Lodge as a care home for your loved one.

We visited while Tony was entertaining the residents in the lounge . He was brilliant at engaging with them all . The music obviously triggers something within them . My aunty has dementia and was loving singing along to all the songs he played. She is much happier and more engaged at acer lodge than the home she was previously in. Tony deserves a pay rise . Keep up the great work .

It was lovely to see the residents thoroughly enjoying the in-house Christmas entertainment as well as some visiting children from a local primary school. The staff are so lovely, caring and friendly.

Everything was more than satisfactory. Everybody was so kind, thoughtful, nothing was too much trouble. So thanks for all the love & feeling everybody gave Margaret & myself. Thanks once again.

I could not be happier with the care my mum is getting in Acer Lodge. The staff are all amazing and my mum is so happy. She is always clean, well dressed and smiling so I know all is well and I have great peace of mind whenever I drive away

Dad only just became a resident, so far excellent care. Staff are wonderful.

Since transferring Ivy over to Acer Lodge, the change in her has been quite remarkable. She is now more aware and alert, she's recognising family members, and her demeanor is one of happiness and contentment. All this is down to the lovely, dedicated staff at Acer Lodge, whose professionalism is outstanding. This care home is a beacon of what care for the elderly should be.
