It was lovely to see the residents thoroughly enjoying the in-house Christmas entertainment as well as some visiting children from a local primary school. The staff are so lovely, caring and friendly.

Since transferring Ivy over to Acer Lodge, the change in her has been quite remarkable. She is now more aware and alert, she's recognising family members, and her demeanor is one of happiness and contentment. All this is down to the lovely, dedicated staff at Acer Lodge, whose professionalism is outstanding.
This care home is a beacon of what care for the elderly should be.

It takes a dedicated team to make a home excellent and Acer Lodge has that. Every single member of staff at some point in the day spends one to one quality time with one person who lives there. My dad is non verbal so he speaks with his face, and all the staff now read his face. The home is a lovely
place with lots of fun, laughter and love.

Denis was brought to Acer Lodge after 3 weeks in hospital, he was welcomed in by the staff. He hasn't been an easy resident, suffering from Alzheimer's he thinks he is in his own home as he can go into other rooms. The carers are so kind to him, to us, well looked after, kept clean and tidy. Can't praise
the staff enough. Our only problem is loss of property and clothes, even though they are all named, I've had to buy new glasses and a watch.
Reply from Samantha Crawley, CEO at Acer LodgeWhat a beautiful testament to the team at Acer Lodge. Thank you for taking the time to write this wonderful review. Our home manager Karen will reach out to you regarding the items and to discuss a plan moving forward. Thank you again S

My sister has been a resident at Acer Lodge for three months.
All of the staff involved in her care have been so attentive and friendly and this has helped tremendously with how she has settled in. I feel that everyone helping my sister wants the best for her and are aware of her specific needs.
The
home exudes a really friendly atmosphere. We are always warmly welcomed by everyone, and the staff genuinely seem to enjoy chatting and getting to know us and want to make sure that everything is going well.
The accommodation is lovely. The private rooms are spacious and well equipped and the lounges and sitting areas make you feel more like you are in a hotel than a care home.
Any questions I have had about the home or my sister's care have been answered straight away and I am confident that concerns would be addressed in the same way.
Acer Lodge has proved to be an excellent setting for my sister and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

My dad has been in Acer Lodge for 5 weeks and we have the staff to be very caring and supportive. They have looked after dad well in challenging circumstances. He is well looked after and as a family we feel supported too. They just need to keep a better eye on resident's belongings as dad has had a
few things go missing while in there.

My uncle has a life ending condition of Motor Neurone Disease, We had a very stressful and upsetting experience trying to discharge my uncle to an appropriate care facility to accommodate his needs, we had to attend many meetings to get to the appropriate safe discharge plan for him. I was given many
care homes to look at and none gave me the evidence or the criteria that was required to care for my uncles needs.
It was only when I walked into Acer Lodge did I feel reassured and confident that this would be the place I would be happy for him to be cared for. All the staff were professional, respectful and could answer any of my concerns, the warm friendly atmosphere throughout my initial viewing gave me confidence I had found the right place. I was given the opportunity to speak with nurses who would care for my uncles needs and would be happy to take advice from the Motor Neurone Disease team where he was hospitalised and work together in my uncles best interests.

Our father was in Acer Lodge for 7 weeks. He was cared for by many staff, who were all very caring, compassionate, polite, knowledgeable and considerate, right up to the time of his passing away. Nothing was every too much trouble to help him and also anything we needed they sorted. The 3 young gents
who looked after him mainly were so attentive to him and he seemed to enjoy them spending time with him. Overall, we would definately recommend Acer Lodge as a place to be looked after in your time of need.

I am incredibly grateful for the care my dad received during his two-week respite stay at Acer Lodge care home. The staff went above and beyond to ensure he felt comfortable and well taken care of. The care home itself was immaculate, providing a warm and welcoming environment that made him feel right
at home. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. The staff were attentive, always offering us drinks and making sure we had everything we needed. It's clear that they truly care about their residents, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking excellent care in a friendly, caring environment.

All the team at Acer Lodge have been outstanding and extremely supportive. I had a need to move dad from a hospital in North Wales to Acer Lodge on an urgent basis which was a daunting thought. I came across Acer Lodge almost by accident which now, looking back, has come as a blessing in disguise. The
team at Acer Lodge managed the process professionally, calmly and efficiently and dealt with the hospital directly.
Acer Lodge is a modern purpose built home and is bright, spacious and located on a canal side which my dad loves to look out upon. I was extremely nervous that dad wouldn't settle there but I needn't have worried, he loves that place. Dad has already taken up drawing again which he hasn't done for some time and has even joined in with singing and dancing when entertainers have visited, something that I didn't think my dad would do.
All in all Acer Lodge has proven to be an excellent choice.

Lovely place, the staff are really good management, they are really good. Any questions or worries we have get sorted asap. I do think they need more staff but that is ongoing at the moment. Activities for patients to join in are good, just need staff to help them join in more to get to where the activities
are going on. Lovely place, highly recommended.

My mother moved to this care home in early November. Since she has been here, when compared to her previous care home, the staff have been fabulous with the interaction with her. She is very settled and there are lots of activities either put on by the care home or by the staff on a one-to-one basis
which keeps her mind active and stimulated. I have been very impressed with every aspect of Acer Lodge and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high class caring residential home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.840)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.840) out of 10 for Acer Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.840 for Acer Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (272 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 318 Ratings = 4.84
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acer Lodge is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
