View Full Details of Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing HomeAfter a positive viewing of CG, I had no reservations about recommending it for a respite stay for mum. The building itself is modern and very clean, mum's room is spacious and fresh with a pleasant view. With the windows open it feels close to nature which is lovely. The staff have all been really approachable and friendly. I would completely agree with other reviewers who have said that the staff are amazing and that nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. Meals are varied and very well presented, the catering staff work hard to provide good food and happily bring alternatives when mum requests something different. During my visits both mum and I have been treated with respect and a lot of kindness. We are now in the process of asking if mum can extend her stay at CG. Thank you to all CG staff for your caring approach to your work.
I visited my friend yesterday, who has only been living at Cedar Grange for a few weeks. She has settled in so well, thanks to the homely atmosphere and friendly, professional staff. She is better, motivated, moving around more, chatting to other residents and showing care and concern for them. It was so reassuring to see her engaging with life again after a prolonged stay in the wrong setting and no visiting from her family. You are giving her a new lease of life.
I think my son could not be in a better place, bearing in mind that his dementia/alzheimers condition is showing that the condition is progressing.
Uncle has been a resident for seven months. Staff have been excellent, attentive, caring, nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend the clean, airy, modern residential care and nursing home. Both he and his family are treated with respect.
All the staff are very good but so times camoncash is not good.
Our experience was that this care home was not the right placement for our mum following her stroke, and it was necessary to find more appropriate care . The care followed a very structured routine, with little flexibility for individual needs. It did not feel person-centred, which caused mum to acquire unnecessary anxiety around everyday tasks like eating and personal care. The home was also unable to consistently provide meals at the appropriate IDDSI levels, which added to her anxiety around mealtimes. At a time when Mum needed gentleness, kindness, and reassurance, the unyielding schedule did not adapt to her situation. This was very difficult for her, and as a family, it was hard to witness. For someone vulnerable but still very aware, the environment did not provide the comfort or dignity we had hoped for .Mum is now settled in a new home that totally supports her needs. Our experience was difficult, but we hope sharing it helps families make informed choices.
On arrival I was greeted at reception and went downstairs all staff I saw smiled and friendly mum was sat in lounge/tv area - she was sleeping. Staff came up to me welcoming, got me a chair. Mum was really cosy with a blanket, clean, washed and fresh. Her room was clean and fresh. It is lovely to see how the home has improved over the last 12 months, friendly staff, who care and she is always looking clean, hair washed etc. Sadly she can't join in with activities so much these days but lovely to see and read that so much is going on. Thank you.
My mother was admitted to Cedar Grange following a severe stroke and required nursing care, a Level 5 IDDSI diet, and full mobility and personal care support. We encountered ongoing issues with her dietary and continence needs. Meals were often unsuitable for her swallowing difficulties, creating safety risks. Personal care was strictly scheduled, so she sometimes waited an unacceptably long time for assistance, leaving her uncomfortable, distressed, and anxious. Over time, she lost confidence that staff would respond promptly when she needed help. Two safeguarding concerns were raised - one by us and one by visiting professionals. We also observed low staff morale and a lack of visible leadership. When concerns were raised, responses felt defensive rather than collaborative. We moved Mum to a different home, where she now receives more appropriate, attentive, and compassionate care.
All staff have a very friendly approach when visiting. Mum is treated with care, kindness and consideration in a secure safe environment, with professional staff.
The level of care given to my Mum is amazing. I cannot express enough what an excellent home Cedar Grange is every member of the staff team are brilliant and patient/ So good with activities to keep my mum and other residents stimulated and kept up to date with various events like I.e. the VE Day celebration party, or the memorabilia put on display, also the beach area with paddling pool, when pets come in, the vicar to take a little service. The food and cleanliness is very good. The attention to detail is second to none.
My mother is treated very well, the staff are very caring and treat her with the dignity and respect she deserves in her late nineties. Mum is very particular regarding her food, they always ensure she is given choices and do their best to ensure she eats well, she has even put on a small amount of weight. Mum is very happy with the way she is treated and always says how caring the staff are and how happy she is at Cedar Grange. Mum does not mix much with the other residents so I cannot comment on the activities but know that the staff try and encourage social activities.
I have no complaints at all mum has been cared for beautifully with dignity and also with love and fun too They have kept her active and safe. They provide lovely home cooked meals that she enjoys (and she's fussy!). They are also incredibly welcoming and helpful to myself and my stepfather helping up with the situation and finding time for us too Nothing is too much trouble. Her rooms lovely and kept very clean - as is mum! We are very happy indeed with the service, especially coming from another home - couldn't be more different an experience
We had a varied experience, at times we were very disappointed with care provided, lack of dignity and care. Numerous times we had to ask for assistance to support our loved one with basic care. Some staff were excellent and other staff were below what we expected. Support from registered nurses was sporadic and at end of life care was very frustrating and upsetting. Night care staff were excellent, caring and spent time with out loved one and family.
My husband has been in hospital for 23 days and did lost weight. He did gain weight and looks much better feels calm and happy. I hope he will be much better later on. I visit him often. I'm very happy with staff and one member of staff knows my husband from before and he recognised her here.
My uncle has now been residing at Cedar Grange Residential and Nursing Home for some time, and although I'm not able to visit as much as I'd like, he is happy and has made some lovely connections with the other residents. He is a cheeky chap, and enjoys having a laugh and joke with the staff, when he first went into the home it was a difficult transition, however with the care and patience he has been shown he has completely changed and is much more relaxed and content. His room is lovely, and he enjoys the food. The manager has done wonders for the home.
My wife had a respite break at Cedar Grange, and as far as I can tell she had an enjoyable time. But due to her frontal lobe dementia that has a severe effect on her speech we can't get a complete picture of her stay, but I can say on my visit it was a lovely place in a beautiful setting with wonderful staff, and would recommend it to anyone looking for care for their loved ones.
My Stepmother is treated with great care. Her dignity is always well respected and her medical care, when required, is excellent. I have nothing but praise for all the staff involved in her care. I always feel welcomed by all the staff when visiting, and any questions I have are happily answered.
Cedar Grange has a very welcoming and homely feel when you walk in. The staff are amazing, good is very good. I can leave my daughter and know she is in safe hands.
My sister has settled in well after initial hesitation. Staff are professional, kind and friendly and ensure her comfort and well-being. Always a warm welcome when I visit. Thank you all.
Dad is getting the right care from all the staff, but some of his clothes are not there. I got him some new socks but there not in his cupboard. We keep an eye on it all.
