View Full Details of Sycamore LodgeI find the building light and airy. Clean (a bit like a hospital) mums room needs more homely items, which I hope to bring up. The security is very good. The staff friendly and happy to talk.
My Mum spent five years at Sycamore Lodge as a resident and before this attended the day care facility. She has always been treated with the utmost respect, care and kindness. Staff knew her likes and dislikes and how to put her at ease even with a range of highly complex needs. Nothing was too much trouble and any queries were dealt with promptly. My Dad was also welcomed as a visitor and made to feel very much at home. During her final months, the staff did everything to make my Mum comfortable and pain free. Their care and compassion were exemplary both to my family and my Mum. All of the staff at Sycamore have always been incredibly welcoming and always in good spirits. They take the time to know each of the residents and their personal yet professional manner is outstanding. They have been amazing and we are grateful that in difficult circumstances we were able to find somewhere with such expertise towards complex dementia care as well as personalised, compassionate care.
My Mum spent almost 3 years at Sycamore Lodge and she spent her final days there too.I spent the final 9 days and 4 nights there with the staff. I can only describe the staff team as exceptional. Their care was exemplary and delivered to the highest standard. In Mum's final days the staff's care was professional, respectful and kind. they were also very kind and thoughtful to the family. The qualified nurses were incredible and really helped me through a very difficult time. Explaining as we went and working collaboratively with me to create the best outcome for Mum. During the last week the whole staff team really excelled themselves. Over the 3 years, there were occasional issues and when I brought these up with the staff I always felt they were taken seriously , acted on quickly , dealt with professionally and were resolved quickly. Nothing was too much and I was always encouraged to bring anything to the attention of the management team . I was always kept updated by staff.
I have recently stayed at sycamore Lodge for the last 11 weeks. The food was excellent, the nursing team were professional and friendly. The care staff were friendly and supportive especially 4 staff members in particular who went above and beyond to make my stay pleasurable and nothing was to much trouble I will miss them. Room was nice ,clean and modern. The cleaner was lovely and polite. I really appreciate everything that was done for me,and the only reason I left was to be near to my family and disabled son.
Dad entered sycamore in Dec 22. His health had declined since his diagnosis of dementia. Initially he was admitted for 6 wks rehab but due to complications his recovery to walk was not to be. He fairly quickly settled in to his new surroundings. We as a family on the other hand found it hard to accept that our once active, music loving outdoors dad would end his days in a nursing home. We visited dad most days, taking his wife of 69 years twice a week. Gradually we got to know the staff as a 2nd family & through us showing them photos and videos of dad in his younger days they got to know the man. The highlight of his week was the "music man" & fish & chips. We remember the day we walked into the day room.Dad was sat with residents and staff and was laughing. It made our hearts feel good that he now considered it home. We would like to praise the staff at sycamore in their challenging daily roles & we take comfort knowing that dads final days were in comfortable caring surroundings
Staff mostly very friendly and helpful during this difficult time. Especially the nurses. They keep us very well informed. We were lucky that Mum was given this rehab bed so close to us. The home itself is very bright and clean. The music activity on Friday afternoon is really good, Mum loves it. The garden is nice and we can bring our dog in. They are doing their best to cater for Mum's wishes.
Excellent nursing & care staff looking after my very frail & fragile Mom. Staff always listen & discuss the needs of Mom & she is made to feel part of a community & family. Excellent follow-up calls without any prompting which gives me & the family peace of mind.
The staff on his wing are so considerate. They speak to him as an adult. They are patient when he takes time to eat. The newly created area on the ground floor is lovely and now the weekly sing-a-longs with a visiting singer every Friday are a joy to see all the residents (and staff) enjoying themselves in their own way.
We cannot fault the staff that care for my grandma. They are attentive, kind and loving, always making sure she's keeping up with food and drink, even if they don't get the kindest reception from her. The majority of staff seem to know her really well which is very reassuring and we don't ever have concerns over the care she receives.
On the whole very pleased with Sycamore Lodge, very friendly staff and not as many agency staff as there used to be. So this means relationships between staff, residents and family are much better. The carers know the residents, especially with advanced dementia who can no longer speak/do things for themselves. This is reassuring when they have advanced needs. The entertainment programme is very good. I often visit and we enjoy entertainment together, not just weekly but extra throughout the year it's really nice at xmas. The garden is very nice and the home are good at letting residents and family get involved. We have a dog and it's great for Dad to see her, the other residents all respond well when I bring her in. My children are also always made to feel very welcome, it's nice to have the wider family visit and this is always accommodated. Overall I think everything is generally good, always room for some improvement.
The care staff are very caring to my mother in what must be a difficult job. Each time I visit there are lots of staff around. My mother is obviously well-fed, and clean with good personal grooming. The home is clean and well looked after.
Dad has been at Sycamore Lodge now for almost a year and has settled in well. The staff are friendly, helpful and caring to Dad and our family's needs. Since being here, Dad's health has stabilised, and he is receiving the care he requires. There are always activities and a happy atmosphere for everyone. We're glad Dad is being looked after at Sycamore Lodge.
My husband has Parkinson’s and Dementia and came in for rehabilitation from a 4-week stay in hospital. In just over two weeks, his mobility has improved and he is more settled in this environment. This is such a relief for me and my family to see he is so cared for. The staff are very happy and friendly and always ready to give a helping hand. They also spend time communicating with him about his life.
Dad seems very settled here; he's having rehab. He seems to be doing very well, and the staff are all amazing, with my dad and us family members. The meals are hot and obviously tasty as Dad finishes them every day. The lounge rooms are well-equipped, large and bright.
The whole presentation seems really, really nice and friendly. Good feedback from the nurses, kept up to date. The staff are really supportive and friendly, coping quite well with Mum getting really anxious. Thankful for everything.
I think the care home is a really friendly, happy place, the staff keep you informed every step of the way, I have nothing negative to say, I would give them 10. The carers are doing the best they can, so friendly, so affectionate and loving. This is the best place and I can't imagine my mum to be anywhere else.
Staff are friendly and caring. They understand Mum's needs and have endeavoured to get to know her over the months she has been at Sycamore. Phone calls are made to us when needed and keep us updated with medical information. We always feel welcome when we visit too, as the atmosphere is so relaxed. It's reassuring to know Mum is being looked after.
First-class service with very caring staff and a lovely team. My close friend was admitted for end-of-life care. The care received was compassionate and delivered by a dedicated team. The communication was excellent, and the staff were so knowledgeable every time we visited. I would highly recommend this service.
I cannot thank the staff of Sycamore Lodge enough. They took my dad at very short notice and looked after him with great care. They all knew my and my daughter's first names and were brilliant at keeping us updated with his care and any changes. They welcomed our dog in to see him. He was only with them for ten days before he passed peacefully, and we were very touched by the basket of flowers they sent to his funeral.
Since we were fortunate to get my wife into Nailsea as she was at a home in worle nr Weston, myself and my family are so pleased with the way she is being looked after, the whole experience has been so positive that our minds are at rest, only one word to describe the staff fantastic and so caring it seems impossible how to say thanks to you all and a great Christmas sincerely.
