View Full Details of Birkenhead CourtAfter looking at a lot if care homes, we chose Birkenhead Court for our Mum. We never regretted that choice. The home is well maintained and clean with lovely rooms. The food is great and there are lots of activities for the residents, including outings, singers and dancing. It has a cinema, sweet shop and non-alcoholic bar for the residents. All this means nothing without the superb care workers who cared for our mum for the last 10 years of her life. They are a credit to the home and their vocation, we can't praise them highly enough. Mum was treated like one of an extended family and really enjoyed her life there. If you are looking for a care home for your loved one, look no further than Birkenhead Court.
We were recommended to look at Birkenhead Court by a good friend when Mum needed respite from dementia we were welcomed in and within a week Mum moved in. They sorted her medicines out and the change is remarkable, she is clan, tidy, calm. Making friends - enjoy the lovely food on offer. She has moved in permanently now and my dad has joined her after having seizures - a stroke and they are settling in well together. The staff have been brilliant looking after them, so kind & caring and nothing is too much trouble. Not only have they taken care of Mum & Dad but when we as a family were at a really low point they have helped to make life easier.
Navigating a difficult time as a family was made so much easier by the care and support our Mum received from the team at Birkenhead court. Our Mum stayed for 5 months before having to move to closer to family. The manager and her team and in particular three members of staff went above and beyond to ensure our Mum was cared for and supported throughout her stay. Her journey with Alzheimer's has not been easy so as a family we were very touched with everyone's kindness, patience and hard work when taking care of our Mum. When dealing with a move to an Anchor home closer to family the team could not have done more to help us and keep Mum feeling happy and positive. Particular thanks to the manager for ensuring everything was arranged for the move and for always making time to talk through any questions we had, her efficiency and pro-active approach to all communications regarding our Mums care was greatly appreciated. Many thanks and kindest regards to the team!
When looking for a care home for mum we looked at a few, but by far Birkenhead Court stood out, for its set up, friendly and welcoming staff, extra activities and the family feel to the place. Mum is now been in for the past month and we haven't been disappointed in fact it is better, staff are absolutely brilliant. Place is well run with the residents at the heart.
The care is outstandingly good. All the staff are so caring and nothing is too much trouble any problems are dealt with immediately. My mother and all the residents are all so well looked after and are treated with care and dignity. The food is excellent with lovely fresh baked cakes and plenty of drinks and treats throughout the day. The rooms are kept very clean and tidy and laundry returned promptly. We are very happy with the care provided at Birkenhead Court.
I was so happy I chose Birkenhead Court for my mum, she has felt at home since she moved in Febuary. The staff are all lovely and nothing is to much trouble, I am also notified of any changes or doctor referals etc. straight away. As a family we always feel welcome at any time we visit, and not in the way. It has made such a difference to Mums well being.
My wife started suffering from dementia about 5 years ago and I had carers coming in 3 times a day but I could no longer cope so, reluctantly, the family took the decision to put her in Birkenhead Court last April (2024). You were recommended by a home care provider and the family GP. I am really delighted with the home where she is treated with the utmost respect and has settled in well. I can now sleep at night knowing she is in good hands. I know it's experience but worth it for my peace of mind. Thank you so much.
My husband has been in Birkenhead Court for the last 3 months. I have been very pleased with the care he has been given. All the staff are always friendly and helpful. I would recommend Birkenhead Court as a very good care home.
I've been really impressed with Birkenhead Court since my mum moved there in January from another home. From the initial visit, through to actually getting her into her room on the first day, I could not have asked for any better. On the various visits I've subsequently made, all the staff seem really friendly and nothing it too much trouble to ask. The carers have even been able to get her walking from her room to the lounge area, something I would not have considered possible previously.
I can't praise this care home enough for the love and care they showed my mum during her stay. From my initial contact, when we were deciding on options for Mum's care, to the outstanding detail they showed in caring for her at her end of life, each staff member was an angel sent. The environment, facilities, activities and nutrition/hydration are high priorities with the residents' and families' needs at the centre of all they do. Mum was the most settled and happy we had seen her for months. I was kept up to date on visits on her welfare and when her health declined, the staff were there every step of the way making sure she was cared for with dignity and love. My dear mum passed away in November and if it wasn't for the attentive nature of the staff, working with the family to ensure her palliative stages of care were met, I have no doubt Mum's passing would not have been as peaceful. The whole family were extremely well supported and our needs were equally cared for during Mum's time at the home.
My mum came into the care home, very frail and disorientated. A couple of months on, she has gained weight, gets 24 hour support and is starting to look like "old mum" used to. I cannot praise the staff enough for their support of the residents and standard of care provided. Thank you for helping my mum with her dementia and recommend Birkenhead Court to any family seeking assistance.
My mum has been at Birkenhead Court since January 2024. She is diagnosed with dementia and is partially blind and hard of hearing. I have witnessed a great deal of warmth and care towards my mum from all the staff. They offer a lot of humour which my mum appreciates and are very supportive. Staff encourage all residents to get involved with the activities and there are regular singers which my mum particularly enjoys. I visit my mum between 3 and 4 times a week and on every occasion she has been smartly dressed with her hair done. She also enjoys regular visits to the on-site hairdresser. I feel very pleased with the care she receives at Birkenhead Court and I am confident that the home is being managed with the residents at the forefront of the decision making.
Really pleased at the way my mother has been looked after. I have been kept informed at all times when she has required extra support and plenty of communication with all members of staff. Including management and all the carers.
My mum has been a resident for a long time. Staff have always given her the best care, love and compassion. The home is decorated lovely for Christmas with parties and there are always lovely activities to keep her entertained. Although Mum's health is poor, staff are alert and act quickly and professionally when she is ill. I really don't think Mum would still be with us if it wasn't for their care. It's such a comfort to know she is safe and cared for so well.
Unhappy with treatment of my mum during two years here. Management are unhelpful and appear uninterested. Refusing to speak to family when my mum left saying "too busy". Some staff very nice and caring some need a lot more training in my opinion. An air of "can't be bothered' was often noted. Cleanliness was not to a good standard and laundry service leaves a lot to be desired. Can't comment on food as not able to visit at meal times but I think it was fairly good.
My husband moved in as a respite resident in August and became permanent in October, I keep in regular contact with the staff and we visit most days. I have spoken to the team leaders regarding any issues I have and they do their best to sort out any problems that we have. I cannot comment on the manager as I have not really had any dealings with her, in fact, I haven't really met her. I feel, as in any situation, some staff are better than others and definitely go the extra mile. I cannot comment on the activities as I haven't seen any taking place in the care home, apart from the music sessions, that may be because my husband doesn't want to participate. I must say that he has settled very well and seems happy in the care home and I am very grateful and relieved about that.
I have found all staff courteous and respect all residents. Residents are treated with respect and dignity. Residents are always dressed, hair combed, and all look very well looked after. Staff seemed to have a great relationship with each other and the residents. Entertainment seems well attended and everyone joins in with singing and dancing. Men have an afternoon pie and pint and ladies enjoy afternoon tea. The home always has a welcoming feel and is very clean.
The staff here are simply outstanding and make Birkenhead Court a special place. My dad was treated as an individual and the warmth and humour of the staff who cared for him is exactly how I would want to be treated myself. My dad enjoyed the meals and staff were always making an extra effort to organise nice activities, like barbecues and games afternoons. When I spoke to staff they were always well-informed and able to tell me how Dad was doing without having to go off and find out first, this showed me how attentive and in touch with the residents they are. Many of the staff have worked here for a long time and in my opinion, this shows that they have a dedicated team who are happy in their work. Staff made a point of stating how Birkenhead Court is, first and foremost, home to the residents no matter how long they stay for and every effort is made to ensure that they feel safe, comfortable and cared for.
The care home is well-run and managed. Staff are friendly and kind. What particularly impressed me is that every carer knew my mum by name. Thank you for doing such a good job. The manager is a great manager and really helpful when it came to customizing my Mum's room. And another staff member was great at the handiwork to make the room more familiar for Mum.
Overall, excellent. The staff are professional and caring. Any specific problems are notified to me, as I have power of attorney for my brother, and any matters we raise are addressed sympathetically. All of this is important as we currently live in another part of the UK and it is very reassuring, given his condition and age, that he is well looked after at Birkenhead Court.
