View Full Details of Chase Park Neuro CentreMy husband has been in Chase Park for 3 years now & I couldn't ask for a better care home. I know when I'm not there he is well looked after. All staff are amazing, from the nurses, care staff, housekeeping, to the handyman, coffee shop & kitchen, they are all very caring, friendly & helpful. Activity team are great, OT, physio & therapy team are fantastic, he has come on leaps & bounds & they are very encouraging with him. Alina, the clinical lead, is fabulous, very caring & a fantastic nurse. Any medical issue is dealt with quickly & knowing a local Dr comes once a week to see residents is very reassuring. Deputy manager & senior management are very good, if I had any issue I know I could go to them & it will be dealt with efficiently.
My mother moved into the Dementia floor at Chase Park after leaving another care home that couldn't meet her needs. Since arriving at Chase Park, I have noticed a big improvement in her mood and physical health. The staff are attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring. The food served is of very good quality, and I always leave visits feeling reassured that she is being well looked after. There are regular activities arranged for residents, and my mum particularly enjoys her weekly trip to the park. Communication is excellent - I receive regular emails and updates, and the manager is always available to answer any questions. Overall, I feel confident that my mum is in safe and supportive hands at Chase Park.
So happy that my mam is settled in Chase Park, staff are amazing, attentive to her needs, nothing is a bother to them, mam has been more engaged with activities than she has ever been which gives us as a family confidence she is being well looked after. Many thanks to all the staff that are involved with her care.
My cousin has lived in Chase Park for 15 years. I have absolutely no concerns about her mental or physical health or social care. This is her home. This is her safe place. This is her happy place. I visit her every week, and have for the last 15 years, I am the closest family member to her. I know the staff and they know me, we have a good relationship that benefits my cousin. I would never want her to live anywhere else.
My brother moved into Chase Park in Nov 2023, he has severe brain injuries. We are very confident in his care provision now that he has settled in and staff know him well. Communication is very good and I am kept informed regarding important issues with regards to his health. Staff are always friendly and have a lovely manner with my brother, which is very important to us as a family.
We have been very happy with the care. Staff are caring/responsive but are always very busy - we wish they could spend more time sitting and talking to patients - we think my mam is lonely at times. Over recent months, there has been an intake of new patients who seem to be needing a higher level of care/support- we wonder if this sometimes detracts from the amount of time that is therefore available for other residents? When we have had safety concerns they have been addressed quickly. The links with the local GP could be improved as sometimes there is a delay accessing medical support eg prescriptions arriving 48 hours plus after being prescribed. Nursing staff are very skilled/supportive, but they seem to have to defer to the GP which can seem to delay things at times. One area which could be improved, would be more regular communication. We have to request updates when we see staff or sometimes contact for additional information via family liaison -they do always reply to this.
Staff I liaise with are always very approachable and helpful. The Therapy Team are always cooperative when we have requested sessions to be swapped due to appointments or outings. The Clinical Lead and Family Liaison Officer are extremely helpful and understanding when we have had problems to deal with.
Dad has been a resident since May and has settled well. The staff seem to have bonded well with him and got to know him. They encourage his sense of humour and love for singing and being social. He is happy and clean and eats well. The newly created Dementia unit is a perfect environment for Dad. Small enough to feel well cared for but spacious, well thought through and well staffed. I've seen first-hand how well the staff deal with the changeable behaviours of dementia residents and intervene with care and compassion to ensure all residents feel safe, respected and cared for. My only criticism as a family member is that I struggle to know which staff members work closest with my Dad. I see lots of different staff. One lady is great as family liaison but it would be good to have a key contact from the care team too.
Just to add a e few positive views about Chase Park Care Home: My dad has been a resident here since Jan 2023 .. he has spent time in a few other Care homes on respite, and after experiencing somewhat really negative temporary stays elsewhere and comparing the homes with Chase Park. I wouldn't want dad to be placed anywhere else. The staff are brilliant, sympathetic caring and as well as professionally dedicated in their individual roles. Crucially a wonderful lead Nurse alongside with her husband, do a wonderful job in carrying out their duties. Moreover a mention of dad's personal care staff thank you for the care and attention they always give, it's far from an easy task at times along with long working hours and frankly the patience they have is amazing. Furthermore a mention to the dedicated Manager, who has made terrific inroads in overseeing the improvement of the home. Who should be applauded for her tireless efforts.
After his prolonged illness we got the worst news regarding my brother; his brain tumour was paralysing and killing him. Finding somewhere he could live safely and comfortably for his remaining days was really hard: at 45 years old he was too young for a nursing home. At the same time his condition was neurologically complex. After viewing 15 unsuitable places we viewed chase park and it seemed just right. When my brother arrived the staff made evey effort to help him settle in and understand his meds and care needs. He was bed bound, but if he'd been able to get up he'd have loved the cafe & the park, which are lovely & peaceful. Staff gave us space for friends & family to spend as much time with him as needed. He died 3 weeks after his arrival, & we were able to be with him, in his lovely bedroom with his patio doors open & the sun shining in. They gave us as much time as we needed with him after he died, & washed and dressed him with care & sensitivity. We're eternally grateful!
June 2023, my daughter and sister were admitted to Chase Park Whickham. We were apprehensive for her, as it was out of our area, and away from a very close knit family. We were met by management, carers, staff in the following days, even laungry, housekeeping and physioteam. They have been amazing to my daughter and her family as well. A few changes in this time, renovations to the residents' rooms, lounge etc. are still ongoing on other units, but the difference is amazing, worth the upheaval, but hard work for carers and staff alike, who still made sure the residents were well looked after throughout. The physio team are amazing and my daughter is benefiting really well. The new family liaison officer is doing a good job as well. And by daughter is settled in. So thank you to all here at Chase Park.
We as a family know that all involved with our son he was cared for brilliantly by all members of staff including management.
Our son has recently moved into Chase Park. An unsettling time for him. This has been a most positive move for him. All staff made him and us welcome. Care and support is excellent. He has been made to feel a member of a new family. Thanks to all for making it a seamless transition. He is enjoying all of the activities and outings that have been arranged. Thanks to all at Chase Park.
The care at Chase Park Neuro Centre is very responsive and kind. The residents have excellent holistic care. The residents family and friends are treated in a very respectful, polite manner. Any queries are addressed and any worries considered. The residents are comfortable, clean and well dressed. The food is very good quality and individual needs are catered for.
Our lovely dad was admitted to Chase Park Neuro Centre on Christmas Eve 2024 for end of life care. We had wanted to take dad home from hospital for his remaining days but it was deemed unsafe to do so and we therefore reluctantly agreed for him to go to Chase Park, close to his own home. Our fears were completely unfounded, dad received exceptional medical care from day one. He sadly passed away 6 days later but the quality of care given and the warm, friendly welcome that we, his family, received was truly heartwarming. Dad was treated with the upmost dignity and respect, at times staff were unaware that family had arrived outside his room and we could hear the caring way in which he was spoken to and the gentle manner in which he was approached. This provided us with the greatest reassurance that dad was safe and comfortable amongst people who genuinely cared about him. A huge thank you to every single staff member for your kindness to both dad and the family during a truly difficult time.
My mam came to Chase Park after being cared for in another care home I was dissatisfied with. My son and I visited many care homes and decided on Chase Park, we are so happy we did. My mam was treated with love, empathy and respect from the minute she arrived until she passed away in October. She took time to settle, and could be scared and disruptive, but the staff were so supportive of her and us that Mam soon settled and realised she was safe and cared for. The clinical lead is worth her weight in gold! She clearly cares for the residents and goes above and beyond to support them and their families. Family liaison is a marvel, she has helped our family and my mam very step of the way, during mam's time there and after Mam's passing. The cook ensured mam had food she liked. Most of the staff are very attentive and respectful. They work to build good relationships with clients and their families. I felt 100% happy to leave my mam in their care. Any concerns I had were dealt with quickly.
My brother-in-law was given the best care at Chase Park Neuro Centre. Very caring staff who were just amazing - not only with him but also a huge support to all his family.
I am very grateful to all the staff at Chase Park for caring for my father. It is hugely reassuring to know he is in such good hands. He has been there for many years and it is always lovely to visit him and chat with all the workers. The centre is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and cosy, with lovely views too. Its location is great as well, as it is in a very peaceful area with lots of green surroundings like Chase Park.
On Tuesday 23rd April 2023, my cousin celebrated her 100th birthday. When my husband and I arrived in the morning, we were shown into a room that had been specially decorated for the occasion. Cards and gifts were received from staff and residents and a lovely buffet was prepared for lunchtime with a wonderful cake to be cut and shared. The family liaison officer and staff were extremely kind and caring to my cousin and also to the residents who arrived to share the buffet. It was a wonderful day and an extremely happy one for my cousin. Thank you so much to all who made this day such a memorable one.
We recently lost our mam and within weeks dad became very frail and unwell, to the point he needed 24-hour care. We were devastated that he couldn’t go back to his home but a room was quickly found for him at Chase Park Neuro Centre. From the minute we stepped through the doors, even before my dad arrived, we could feel the happy atmosphere and were treated with warmth by every member of staff we met. We were encouraged to make dad's room exactly how he would want it and we truly felt that this would be home from home for him. Dad arrived on Monday evening and was soon settled in by the lovely staff on duty. Watching the staff interacting with him and other residents throughout the next day lifted our spirits and reassured us that he would be given the best care. Sadly, my lovely dad passed away very quickly before even 24 hours had passed but the care and compassion we, as a family, were shown by the nurses and carers and the kindness and dignity they gave to my dad helped us through.
