We have recently made the tough decision to place mum in a care home. Anyone who has been through this will know how difficult that is. We looked at a few and decided as a family that Mayfield Care home was the best one for mum. Mum started early in August 2025 and we have been delighted with how well she has settled. The managers are absolutely fantastic and have all been very welcoming and understanding even when we may of come over as overbearing due to stress of course. They have been efficient, professional, knowledgeable and very caring giving us support and advice during the settling in period. The care staff are all lovely and have looked after mum so well and any questions we have had have been answered. Since mum has started she has seen the GP attached to Mayfield and the optician . The home always smells fresh and clean. Mums room is always tidy and small things like pyjamas folded on the bed and soft toys placed to welcome mum to her room make it special.
The family of my late father (25/5/34 -13/12/22) would love to praise this home and all the wonderful staff under the manager's leadership. He was the happiest he has been for many years and always looked immaculate and felt like the staff and residents were his family. Always cracking jokes and integrated well, he was truly contented there and we had peace of mind too. Thank you so much.
My mother has been a resident at Mayfield for some 8 months. Under their care, her general health has improved. She is now looking better than she has done for some time and her mobility has increased such that she uses her stick much less than she did before. My wife has remarked that all areas of the home are kept spotlessly clean. The staff are kind and many have been there a long time. They provide regular chiropody and hairdresser visits for the residents.
Excellent, lovely staff. Love the manager. Outstanding care. Always smells fresh. Housekeeper is always visible, powder rooms tidy. Yet to see a yucky bathroom. So happy my grandad's here. He's a different man.
My biggest complaint about the home is the overwhelming smell of urine, which makes visiting very unpleasant. On occasions, there has been an overlying scent of floral cover-up. The dining table and residents' trays always have traces of the previous meal. I think these issues are enough for now, and enough to discourage a recommendation. I have no knowledge of most of the questions below, so will just put satisfactory, though they may be worse.
