View Full Details of Portelet ManorThis home has provided a high standard of care for my brother over the past 18months. He has a very complex medical history with signifcant care needs. Due to his medical condition there have been times when he has been destructive to not only his own property but of the home. Yet despite is unpredictable behaviour they have taken time to know him as a person. They find ways to reduce his anxieties, they play music that helps calm him, they care. They ensure every aspect of his room is safe. Please don't judge this care home on its decor (currently being updated) but by good leadership skills to ensure staff know the importance of giving a holistic approach to caring for individual residents. Residents become like family, they take those that are able out, even to a fast food restaurant if that's what they want to do. They build good relationships with family members and are open to suggestions to improve the overall experience for the residents. As a retired nurse I'm happy to recommend.
My husband arrived in November 23 and settled in extremely quickly in the home; I think this was because of the dedicated staff and management team. The staff treat other people living in the home with dignity and dedication. I am glad that my husband is at Portelet Manor because I feel he is looked after very well and always looks well-presented. The food is nutritional, well prepared and a good variety, the fees paid for extras like chiropody and hairdresser are very reasonable and to have them on sight is even better. The Christmas festivities were excellent, with every member of staff joining in with the residents from the management team down to the rest of the staff; it was a joy to be hold, seeing everyone's faces and having a good time. The staff are all very welcoming, and although the management team are very busy, they always find the time to keep me updated.
