View Full Details of SummerleyMum went to Summerley for 2 weeks respite, and was very well cared for. The Home is lively, with lots of activities. The staff work hard to keep the residents engaged, and are always very warm and friendly. The communication from the management is excellent.
My sister has settled into Summerley Care Home very well. The staff have been very kind and attentive to her. I was concerned that she would find it noisy but in fact she enjoys the noise and seeing the other residents. The food is nice with a good choice each day. Drinks are offered and given frequently. I was there today and a young member of staff was very sweet to one of the residents. She gently rubbed the top of her head which the resident was enjoying. It was a spontaneous gesture. The management keep me informed of anything that is pertinent to my sister. I would recommend this home.
The individual care and care shown to all residents is truly outstanding. It makes me feel so happy to visit.
I am very happy with the care given to my husband and me when I visit. Staff are very charming.
The staff at Summerley are very caring and courteous. They look after my mother with dignity and respect. There is always someone to assist if need be. When I visit, the staff welcome you with a smile even on their most trying days. Thank you for all you do.
Amazing care home, always such a warm and welcoming place with lovely staff who are always willing to help in anyway. So many activities and things going on to keep residents active and memories alive. Residents are treated with respect and dignity. Food always smells amazing in there with a great menu, I literally have nothing negative that I can put forward
My wife has been in Summerly for just on four years now during this time the care she has recieved has been the very best, the staff are always on hand to give any advice or support as needed and always happy to do so nothing is to much trouble for them. The range of activities provided are well thought out so as to try and keep the mind and body active not an easy task.
Mum has been a resident at Summerley for over 4 years now and we cannot fault the care she has received. The facility feels like a proper home and the staff are welcoming and caring. We have seen many of the same staff right from day one, so it is lovely to have the continuity of care which that offers. Whenever we visit, there is usually some activity taking place and we get sent regular photos and updates of what they get up to! Mum seems happy and content and is often playing the hostess in what she rightly sees as her home - making sure everyone is happy and freely offering cups of tea! Communication with the management is not a problem - the manager is often hands-on in the home either helping with the residents or doing some DIY - so we never feel left out of mum's care. All in all, we couldn't be happier that we chose Summerley Care Home.
My Dad has recently moved to the Summerly after 6 weeks in hospital. Immediately his general health and demeanour have improved. All the staff are helpful, cheerful, compassionate and I've only seen patience and kindness given to him and the other residents. Whenever we visit, we're made to feel very welcome and the staff will always take time to talk to and support us. The home is clean, tidy, bright, airy and has a very homely, calm and stress free atmosphere. Dad has settled in very well and we're happy knowing he's being cared for and looked after in a professional, respectful and caring manor. I couldn't have asked for a better home for Dad to be in.
Since my mother moved into Summerly I have found the staff warm and welcoming. Care is given with sensitivity and understanding . Summerly is a small intimate home , rooms are kept spotlessly clean and personal touches from home add a sense of belonging. Meals are home cooked and served in the dinning area with bright tablecloths , the family service allows for conversations between residents. Residents are encouraged to take part in activities and those who are able are encouraged to walk to the beach or park. My mother settled quickly and knowing she was being cared for gave me peace of mind . Health issues have been dealt with by the staff and if need be a referral to the doctor.
My mum lives at SCH. I will be eternally grateful for the love, support advice and ongoing care we all receive here. It's such a hard decision for any family to make to trust someone to care for your loved one with dementia. Here every member of staff have made us as a family realise we made the right decision. My mum is happy. This is because she is cared for beautifully, gently and graciously by everyone that works there. Thank you all.
My mum came to Summerly Care Home in August 2022. It took a little bit of time for her to settle in, but what made it so easy was very simple, all the staff are totally amazing. I know my mum absolutely adores them. What is so great is the place, really feels like home for her, All the Staff are so friendly and informative every time we visit. It's such good peace of mind that Mum is so happy and cared for.
This is an additional review on my mum's care she is receiving at Summerley. Over Christmas unfortunately mum became ill and required several visits from paramedics and a trip to hospital. On all occasions the staff dealt with the initial crisis superbly well making sure she was as safe as possible while awaiting professional medical attention. On both occasions the staff were fully committed to providing a dignified and comfortable environment for mum. They informed me immediately as they could and updated as appropriate. Every time the staff remained with her reassuring and comforting her even when mum was very distressed. This dedication has continued over the last month, seeing the management contacting the local surgery and having tests done to ensure the best care for her. Mum remains unwell at this time however I have absolute confidence in the staff at Summerley to care and love mum to the best of their abilities.
My father has been in Summerley for over two years. The empathy and care the staff give him is excellent. They also keep me informed if there are any problems and are always there for an update and cuppa when I visit.
Mum sadly passed away very recently but she had been a resident at Summerley for three and a half years. The care she received from the very beginning was excellent and I cannot praise the staff highly enough, particularly during the last few very difficult days when Mum was on end-of-life care. The staff were so kind and compassionate, not only to Mum but me and my sister, and kept us informed at all times. We were always made to feel welcome and any questions or concerns were always addressed. Every resident was treated as an individual, as was highlighted at Christmas and birthdays when presents were chosen to reflect Mum's tastes. I cannot praise the staff highly enough and would have no hesitation in recommending Summerley to anyone considering this care home. Cleanliness, meal choices and the caring compassionate staff are superb.
My dad was in the home for 16 months and had Alzheimer's. The staff at Summerley are so welcoming and genuinely incredibly caring. We visited regularly and were always welcomed, kept updated and made to feel part of the home. My dad has sadly passed away but all the staff were so supportive as he was slipping away and they tried to make him comfortable whilst also comforting us. No words can really express our gratitude to all the staff at Summerley for their care of my dad.
My mother-in-law arrived at Summerley Care Home in May 2024 from a London hospital in a distressed and frail state. Immediately the staff made her feel welcome and at home and took great care of her ensuring all her medication was reviewed with a GP. During the four months that my mother-in-law was there she was well looked after, dietary requirements well catered for and she settled in well. All members of staff from managers to senior carers, carers, night carers and assistants are hardworking to ensure that each resident's needs are met. They treat residents with respect and kindness. During my mother-in-law's end-of-life and palliative care all members of staff went out of their way to show compassion, exceptional care and kindness not just to my mother-in-law but to us as a family. We were always welcome whatever time of day or night.
My partner was discharged from hospital to Summerley Care Home. He was in poor physical and mental condition after 7 weeks in hospital. He has been well cared for and is much happier and healthier now than when he arrived. The staff from the most junior to the managers are all friendly, kind, helpful, cheerful and efficient. As his partner, I have felt welcome. The phone is answered promptly. Problems are solved effectively and I have always felt that my partner was safe and cared for. Summerley Care Home is small and friendly.
Just about used to having a loved one in this care home, really couldn't have picked a better one. It's close to home situated in a lovely area close to the sea and above all it gives a home-from-home feeling. All the staff and management are giving exceptional care and the food is good. Couldn't be more pleased.
It has been wonderful. The staff could not have been kinder to my husband and myself. All very clean and beautiful food. The activities are all very good seen by myself. My mental health team would like him to come here once every two months. I will ask if this is possible. They need to check that windows in bedroom are closed when the sun goes down, we are only in March.
