View Full Details of Chestnut LodgeI have been a resident in Chestnut Lodge for just over 6 months and I have received excellent care. The staff are warm and friendly. As a member of the Chestnut Lodge family I have felt valued and respected as an individual. The activities have been varied and deserve a special mention. The range and extent and the thought that goes into them is what makes it better than any other home. I feel lucky to have a place here.
My auntie is living here. The home is very caring, has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The manager and deputy work well together. This home is lovely and deserves a mention. Well done.
The staff at Chestnut Lodge have been amazing with my Mum who's had to go into full care. Mum suffers with dementia and it has been a difficult decision, but knowing Mum is well looked after has made the process easier. They run lovely activities and try to engage everyone in the home to join in creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
I/We cannot fault the efforts of staff to welcome my dad and make him feel at home there were a few occasions when we questioned his care (sat in bed at 11.30 with no bedding and just a lightweight blanket covering him and no pants) but it was rectified. Also feel more attention to him complaining of a full bladder could have been addressed all minor points.
My Father was a resident at Chestnut Lodge for almost a year before he sadly passed away in February. When he moved in, in March 2024 he had already been in 2 other care homes, neither of which he had been able to settle in. From the very first day that my father moved in to Chestnut Lodge, the manager reassured our family that they could take care of him and that he would, given time settle in. These were such incredible words of reassurance at a very difficult time for us all. The manager was right and my father did after a few months settle in very well. The staff had taken the time to understand him and this made such a difference. The care team were wonderful and my father developed lovely relationships with a number of them. Towards the end of his life my father was treated with excellent care, kindness and respect. Our family were shown such compassion and understanding and time was always made to answer any questions that we had. Thank you to the manager and your wonderful team for everything.
My dad was moved here after almost 7 weeks at Hospice. He and we were extremely nervous about the move but everyone at Chestnut Lodge made the move as stress free as possible. Sadly dad onkh spent 10 days at the nursing home before passing away but the staff were so kind and friendly. They were compassionate and si professional from beginning to end. I would like to personally Thank one of the HCA at the lodge for her kindness and for spending time with dad and I at the end. I cannot thank her enough. I will always remember her kindness to me at such a difficult time.
My father was a resident at Chestnut Lodge from March 2024 until his death in February 2024. Throughout his time here he was treated with respect and understanding, and the care he was shown, often in challenging circumstances due to his worsening dementia, was exemplary. My family and I were very regular visitors - between us we were there around 4 times a week, often more - and we got to know the wonderful carers and nursing staff well, and were able to observe first-hand the care he was given. The highly experienced senior management team inspired confidence, and showed great compassion throughout his stay. We are hugely grateful for the care and professionalism shown by the wonderful team there, who go above and beyond, in challenging circumstances, to look after the residents.
The first time my mum, who is very young with early onset Alzheimer's, has stayed in a care home for respite. The staff have been truly wonderful from start to finish and made my mum feel comfortable and safe and she really enjoyed her stay. This also helped ease my own sense of anxiety about leaving her. Thank you so much for looking after her so well.
I have visited different times of the day - always clean and welcoming. My mum is not encouraged to use a walking stick which she went in with and hospital advised. I understand it's now lost/gone missing. A secure post box into the office would be a great help as I pay the bill by cheque, having to get staff to put it into the office each time. Never has her hearing aids in, it's hard I know but she needs them and I just got new ones in December at £500 because the last home lost hers. Overall - great place on hygiene, food (I think), staff but a lot of money each week for things not to be getting 100%.
The team at Chestnut Lodge looked after my mother from April 2023 until her death in December 2024. I can not praise them enough for the care that they provided for my mother or the great dignity with which she was treated as her dementia became worse toward the end of her life. Everyone at Chestnut lodge treated her with care, compassion and respect. On behalf of my family and myself I would like to thank them all for providing her with a safe and comfortable home for the past two years.
The decision to move our mum into a nursing home was very difficult for our family, but from the very first visit to view Chestnut Lodge, we knew we had found the right home where she would be taken care of. We were immediately told not to worry and that they would take care of our mum, and from then onwards the whole team at Chestnut Lodge provided the most unbelievable love, care and support not only to my mum, but to our entire family. From the amazing carers to the excellent nursing staff and the thoughtful and considerate management team they showed such a high level of care that we all felt looked after and part of their family and we can never thank them enough. We cannot speak highly enough about the entire Chestnut Lodge family and would not hesitate to recommend them.
It was hard when my wife went into permanent care. I visited her every day at different times to watch her and how she related to being in care and how the staff performed. It was wonderful to see the care they gave, not only to her but to all the residents. I am well pleased with the home she is in and would recommend it to others.
Chestnut Lodge is a very efficient and organised nursing home. The staff have given my wife every respect and dignity during her 11 months at the home. The well trained staff have also been of great help to me during very difficult times which is greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend this nursing home.
The staff are very caring and considerate. Mum is being well cared for.
Visiting my Mother for the first time in your care home was a very pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and very caring towards my Mum.
A big thank you for organising such a wonderful birthday celebration for my mother and for making her and the family feel so special. It's comforting to know that she is in safe hands when we can't be with her as we live so far away.
The first time my husband went to stay at a care home. I could not fault the home, staff, or overall experience.
Visited my grandmother for her birthday the staff was so friendly allowing us to use the lounge privately for celebrations for the family. Tea and coffee were supplied to use and popping in to check we were ok. Staff were always engaging with Nan so lovely to see her happy here.
The first time I walked into Chestnut Lodge. I knew it was a special place. I had a warm welcome from the staff and they were helpful. Always offered a cup of tea. No questions seem too silly to ask. Given time to look around. Wow, it's a beautiful clean home. The food looked delicious. Just where you need your loved ones to be cared for with care love fun and dignity.
Such kind, caring staff who genuinely care. Staff always ready to listen and reassure family. Good-sized rooms. I have seen many homes in my professional career and Chestnut Lodge is the only one I would recommend and also be happy to have a relative in. Fully supported through the end-of-life process. Thank you so much.
