View Full Details of Astbury Mere Care HomeI am so pleased that I chose Astbury Mere Care Home for my husband. The nurses and all the staff here are very kind and look after the residents so well. Relatives feel very welcome when visiting throughout the day.
The service and support since we originally looked around the home has been fantastic. All members of staff have been exceptionally friendly and courteous. The level of attention has been exactly as described, and the overall experience has so far surpassed all expectations.
As many families know, placing a loved one in a dementia care home is an emotionally traumatic experience. Our father's initial placement home failed but through good fortune, family and friends, we found Astbury Mere Care Home. The administrative care team was very helpful and responsive to our plight and concerns, and the care team welcomed him with such warmth and professionalism we immediately felt we were part of a family of carers and residents! The dementia floor is spacious and decorated in a welcoming, calming yet colorful design. The residents can move around freely while supervised and have several large communal areas, including a craft room, to congregate in. There is a large "green space" around most of the building in which residents can walk with staff or family supervision. Regular excursions are planned and visitors are welcomed at any time.
Staff are wonderful, from domestics to management, and any issues are dealt with immediately. I can leave my husband knowing he is in safe hands and is being treated with kindness and respect. Any issues out of hours, I am contacted as soon as possible.
This is my 3rd respite stay at Astbury Mere Care Home.I have again been impressed with the care and dedication given by all branches of staff, nothing is to much trouble. Astbury offer a good menue each day and the food is presented well. The accomodation, each room is self contained and of good size. My only comment would be that a higher seating chair should be available, this also applies to the lounge area as well.
My experience with care homes, my negative views were mixed with the amount of care given to my family at the time, but since my wife came to Astbury Mere, my attitude to care homes has changed drastically. It's put faith into my view into care, which Astbury is all about.
This is more like a hotel than a care home. The rooms the patients have are of a good size and with its own full facilities. Food is of high quality. Staff show good empathy with patients and there is a very good staff/patient ratio. Staff are very welcoming to visitors and greet us by name. Although it is 10 miles away from home and not the cheapest, my family and I decided it was the best place for her. She is very happy here.
Overall our experience of mum being in Astbury Mere is very good. The only thing we can really fault is not enough staff on to assist residents with general duties e.g going to the toilet. Pleased with all the activities, staff helpful, food is very good.
The home is welcoming and staff are all very friendly. There are lots of activities and trips arranged for the residents which is important and necessary especially if the resident is mentally very aware. There are also lots of opportunities for social interaction and stimulation for the residents.
I have had several stays at Astbury Mere Care Home on discharge from the hospital after having a severe chest infection, therefore time spent mainly in my room rather than taking part in activities. Help given when requested, call bell always to hand and answered in good time. As on respite care helped to maintain my independence for going home again, the staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely to have the bathroom cleaned daily and fresh towels daily. Laundry good and returned in good time, freshly laundered and ironed. Meals varied and selection so there's always something to choose from. Only grumble is tea served at 17.00 when used to eating at 19.00 but you get used to it.
My sister-in-law enjoys respite stays at Astbury Mere and always receives excellent care and friendliness while she is there. She often books in for one or two weeks at a time but very often stays longer. They make her feel cared for, safe and comfortable and I think she feels it is hard to go home sometimes as they look after her so well. Many thanks to all the staff.
Great staff and facilities. My mother-in-law has settled in really well. She is very well cared for with excellent food and social activities. Thank you to all the lovely staff.
Asbury Mere Care Home have been looking after my aunt for nearly four months and the care and compassion is exemplary. She had been in another care home for six months prior to moving to Astbury and she is much, much happier now. The staff are wonderful, they try so hard to make everything as normal as possible. My aunt enjoys the trips out in the minibus.
Since my wife has been in this home she is much calmer in herself. In her previous one, she was very anxious and nervous. She has settled due to the approach of the caring staff at Astbury and under the circumstances (she has vascular dementia) she is safe and comfortable and is catered for humanely and respectfully in every aspect of her needs. It is a great relief that my family can sleep at night in the knowledge that she is very well looked after.
Lovely place. Viewed most in the area and this is outstanding compared to the others. Staff are all so friendly and happy which helps with the anxiety of moving a loved one into care. The receptionist is so welcoming and friendly. Overall I feel I have complete peace of mind whilst we as a family have been navigating a very difficult journey. Thank you so much you are all truly amazing.
Since my mum has been in Astbury Mere Care Home she has been truly cared for to the absolute highest standard. This is down to the incredibly caring staff who are always making my mum smile and laugh and feel like she's at home. The amazing staff are always very welcoming to family visiting and quickly make you feel part of the Astbury family. I go home knowing that my mum is safe, happy and comfortable. I couldn't ask for much more than that.
Staff (from every part of the home) have been welcoming, friendly, and caring and everyone takes time to talk to our relatives. Gardens are perfect to walk around, well maintained, and beautiful. The food we have sampled here (at the Garden Party and biscuits/cakes available for guests) is of good quality. The resident's bedrooms could do with a bit of updating, but that is from my point of view. The most important point is that our relative is happy, settled, and respected.
Since my first contact with Astbury Mere in June 2012 to assess facilities then have regularly been in touch and that is when I was unexpectedly admitted to hospital. They came to my rescue and swiftly arranged my wife's admission - she has dementia and had broken her arm - The same day I was hospitalised and she was admitted on August 9th. Since then management and staff have been exemplary. They care, they assist, they show compassion and friendship and nothing is too much trouble. The level of professionalism I'm sure has contributed to my wife's ongoing recovery and my peace of mind. They are all there for me and my wife. There is no price I can put on that.
Thank you to our Astbury Mere Care Home family for your care, support and professionalism. My mum has been a resident at the home since 2023. From the day of admission to the present day the care has been, and services, exceptional. The staff are always responsive, resident centered in approach and always willing to go the extra mile. Thank you.
My father went into the care home just after being released from hospital. The organisation of the pre-visits as well as the information about the care home facilities was excellent. My dad was well looked after during the move into the care home and the staff did well to help settle him in. A big thank you to everyone involved! It's now been a month since he moved in and he is very happy.
