Astbury Mere Care Home

The only slight concerns I have is trying to get answers to questions. eg. Why bed rest? Is there a bed sore? If there is, is it improving or not. Nothing is explained and messages don't get passed on. eg. "Please keep Shiela up after lunch as wheelchair man coming". Carers knew nothing about this today.

Great staff, always helpful + caring.

The care home is always immaculate and the staff always welcome you with a smile! There seems to be lots of activities going on and celebrations/decorations for special events.

Our mother has been treated with the utmost respect. The more mature staff provide an excellent service with their experience which shows against the younger staff.

From our very first contact, this home has been exceptional. Securing a place for mum was a highly complex situation and the Client Services Manager handled everything with remarkable efficiency, whilst showing genuine compassion, and respect for our whole family at a deeply distressing time. Since mum arrived every member of staff has gone above and beyond. The carers deserve the highest praise - they are wonderful with mum treating her with patience, kindness and real affection every single day. They know her as a person not just a resident and it showed in everything they do. The nursing staff are equally outstanding, thorough and meticulous in every aspect of her care, and unlike experiences elsewhere nothing is ever too much trouble. The same collective pride runs right through the home from the administrators to housekeeping, and the ladies serving tea, lunch and dinner. Visiting most days we see high standards consistently, not just for mum but for every resident. We feel enormous relief and gratitude knowing she is safe, respected and genuinely cared for. I would recommend this home wholeheartedly to any family.

All carers & nurses very kind & helpful. Jolly & friendly. All meals brought in three time a day - very good & varied. Enjoyed sports day in garden.

The care since Mum went into Astbury Mere has been excellent and any small requests to the staff made by my sisters and myself have been acted on immediately and professionally.

Su moved in 4 months ago, we thought for palliative care. What a change, she is doing amazingly well, settled, happy, participating in group activities, of which there are many. Staff are caring, attentive and friendly to residents. I would highly recommend Astbury Care Home and am very confident in their team.

My husband is well looked after and his physical welfare has improved with the excellent care he has received from everyone; staff, carers and nurses. The home is so friendly and welcoming and it is a pleasure to be part of it. So lovely to know he is safe and well cared for. Many thanks.

When I arrived at Astbury Mere Care Home, I was quite apprehensive about what I would experience, but the people I first met were very friendly and welcoming. The staff were great, nothing too much trouble, and I very soon relaxed. Every day I felt better and felt part of the team.

The home is clean and doesn't smell like some of them do. The food menu is great and always well presented. There are always lots of things going on at the home to keep the residents and families happy.

I am so pleased that I chose Astbury Mere Care Home for my husband. The nurses and all the staff here are very kind and look after the residents so well. Relatives feel very welcome when visiting throughout the day.

The service and support since we originally looked around the home has been fantastic. All members of staff have been exceptionally friendly and courteous. The level of attention has been exactly as described, and the overall experience has so far surpassed all expectations.

As many families know, placing a loved one in a dementia care home is an emotionally traumatic experience. Our father's initial placement home failed but through good fortune, family and friends, we found Astbury Mere Care Home. The administrative care team was very helpful and responsive to our plight and concerns, and the care team welcomed him with such warmth and professionalism we immediately felt we were part of a family of carers and residents! The dementia floor is spacious and decorated in a welcoming, calming yet colorful design. The residents can move around freely while supervised and have several large communal areas, including a craft room, to congregate in. There is a large "green space" around most of the building in which residents can walk with staff or family supervision. Regular excursions are planned and visitors are welcomed at any time.

Staff are wonderful, from domestics to management, and any issues are dealt with immediately. I can leave my husband knowing he is in safe hands and is being treated with kindness and respect. Any issues out of hours, I am contacted as soon as possible.

This is my 3rd respite stay at Astbury Mere Care Home.I have again been impressed with the care and dedication given by all branches of staff, nothing is to much trouble. Astbury offer a good menue each day and the food is presented well. The accomodation, each room is self contained and of good size. My only comment would be that a higher seating chair should be available, this also applies to the lounge area as well.

My experience with care homes, my negative views were mixed with the amount of care given to my family at the time, but since my wife came to Astbury Mere, my attitude to care homes has changed drastically. It's put faith into my view into care, which Astbury is all about.

Overall our experience of mum being in Astbury Mere is very good. The only thing we can really fault is not enough staff on to assist residents with general duties e.g going to the toilet. Pleased with all the activities, staff helpful, food is very good.

This is more like a hotel than a care home. The rooms the patients have are of a good size and with its own full facilities. Food is of high quality. Staff show good empathy with patients and there is a very good staff/patient ratio. Staff are very welcoming to visitors and greet us by name. Although it is 10 miles away from home and not the cheapest, my family and I decided it was the best place for her. She is very happy here.
