Staff (from every part of the home) have been welcoming, friendly, and caring and everyone takes time to talk to our relatives.
Gardens are perfect to walk around, well maintained, and beautiful.
The food we have sampled here (at the Garden Party and biscuits/cakes available for guests) is of good
quality.
The resident's bedrooms could do with a bit of updating, but that is from my point of view.
The most important point is that our relative is happy, settled, and respected.

Since my first contact with Astbury Mere in June 2012 to assess facilities then have regularly been in touch and that is when I was unexpectedly admitted to hospital. They came to my rescue and swiftly arranged my wife's admission - she has dementia and had broken her arm - The same day I was hospitalised
and she was admitted on August 9th. Since then management and staff have been exemplary. They care, they assist, they show compassion and friendship and nothing is too much trouble. The level of professionalism I'm sure has contributed to my wife's ongoing recovery and my peace of mind. They are all there for me and my wife. There is no price I can put on that.

Thank you to our Astbury Mere Care Home family for your care, support and professionalism. My mum has been a resident at the home since 2023. From the day of admission to the present day the care has been, and services, exceptional. The staff are always responsive, resident centered in approach and
always willing to go the extra mile. Thank you.

My father went into the care home just after being released from hospital. The organisation of the pre-visits as well as the information about the care home facilities was excellent. My dad was well looked after during the move into the care home and the staff did well to help settle him in. A big thank
you to everyone involved!
It's now been a month since he moved in and he is very happy.

My mum is on the dementia ward. The care provided is second to none. All the staff show the residents the utmost respect, know each resident's individual personality and quirks. Treat the residents the same way a family member would, lots of loving care, and also give family members lots of support
and are always there for a chat or hug when needed. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Visit the care home every day, always greeted on arrival with a pleasant welcome and all staff very pleasant and very helpful. Everyone seems to join in when there is entertainment and the whole atmosphere is great, enjoying sing songs, quizzes, the residents enjoy trips out in the minibus. I enjoy
my daily visits and made to feel very welcome and part of one big family, so a big thank you to everyone, even to kitchen staff.

Both of my parents are at Astbury Mere. My mother has been there for 18 months. Her care has been very good and has changed, as needed, due to her declining health. My father has only been at Astbury for a few weeks. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, making the transition easy for Dad and
for the rest of the family. We are happy knowing that Mum and Dad are being well cared for. All the staff, both admin and carers, have been so helpful.
Thank you.

Mum has been in Astbury since Oct 23.
Mum really has settled well down to the care and support from all of the staff
I have experienced on a number of occasions professionalism, care and devotion.
The activities are excellent and the Christmas Period was wonderful.
Mum came for a wedding and on
the day of travel, all of her medication was listed and prepared and included a record for me to complete for continuity. A packed lunch was prepared for the journey.
Nothing seems to be too much trouble.
Thank you to the manager and your team.
Reply from Emma Hackett, Home Manager at Astbury Mere Care HomeThank you for your positive feedback, and what you have seen in the care that we provide to all of our residents. We are so pleased at how well our mum has settled in at Astbury Mere. All the staff are wonderful with her, her room is lovely and comfortable, and she is very much enjoying the delicious meals. Like many families in our situation, we really struggled with the decision to move Mum to residential care,
but we are now relieved that she is safe, in such a lovely, happy environment and being so well cared for.

My mum arrived in early September and from the moment she turned up, it was evident to see just how caring the staff are.

Couldn't be happier for the outstanding level of care and compassion offered to Dad and the rest of the family. All the staff from home keeping upwards were wonderful. My mother was a resident of Astbury Mere on palliative care for only a short time before she sadly passed away. In that time, the nursing care was excellent. The staff were respectful, caring and very helpful.
We only ever had to ask and it was done. The staff worked together as a team and communicated
thoroughly and appropriately with the family during this difficult time.
Astbury Mere has great staff and is well-managed, it is a great example of what a good nursing home should be, unfortunately not all are. This home felt like home from home and was excellent in every way.
Reply from Emma Hackett, Home Manager at Astbury Mere Care HomeThank you for your exceptional feedback and such lovely comments, especially under such difficult circumstances. From the first day of my wife's admission, I can say that the level of care has been exceptional. All of those involved in the care home have treated her with the utmost care, dignity and respect. Nothing is too much trouble and their professionalism to engage with her at different levels when she is
at a low period or when she is feeling good, is first class. They listen but never judge and the patient is always put first. However, they also enquire regularly about how the relatives are feeling which is very comforting. The building and the garden surrounding it are very well maintained.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.813)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.813) out of 10 for Astbury Mere Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 31 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.813 for Astbury Mere Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (300 Excellents x 5) + (61 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 364 Ratings = 4.813
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Astbury Mere Care Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
