I transferred my wife from another care home, but extremely pleased with the home, staff already know my wife's requirements and have carried out their duties splendidly, with care and attention.
Management are excellent and no problems exist.
Fees extremely high.

This purpose designed home meet my mother's complex needs admirably. Staff were capable and extremely competent. Always cheerful and sympathetic with residents, helpful and communicative to relatives. Although possibly a bit expensive for some people, the quality of care reflects this and I would recommend
Astbury Mere without hesitation.

My mum moved into Astbury Mere in February and was put at ease and made to feel welcome from the first day. The exceptional care that she has received has resulted in her looking better health wise than she has for a long time. Everyone takes time to ensure the well-being of residents is met. Looking
her best is important to mum so having a hairdresser and pamper nail sessions makes her happy. Easy access to the beautiful well-maintained garden is great for mum who loves to get outside. I can't recommend this home highly enough, it is brilliant, as are all the staff.

The staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. They treated my father with respect, compassion and dignity as were alert and helpful with dispensing his medications and creams on time. The 3 meals and teatimes every day were interesting and tempting.

My father thoroughly enjoyed all the day

outings until he was too fragile to go. The gardens around the home are award-winning and soothing to walk or I take a wheelchair around so fresh air every day. But the staff make this care home as extraordinary as they can.

My wife who has Alzheimer's was in Astbury Mere for two weeks of respite care. I have nothing but praise for the professional management and care that my wife has had throughout her stay. The pleasant ambience of the home would be hard to surpass. It was clean, light and airy in a pleasant location.
The staff are of the best.

Mum moved to Astbury Mere in February 2017. Placing her in care was very hard for my sister and I. The guilt we felt was tremendous. Staff have assured us Mum has never asked to go home throughout the time she has been a resident at Astbury. My sister and I have come to believe Mum is contented and
happy there. This was confirmed to us recently when Mum said (totally unprompted) "this place is quite nice, I'm glad you found this place for me". Given that our mum spent several years fighting against help and saying 'promise you'll never put me in a nursing home' my sister and I feel we have our mum's blessing for our decision, and this is testament also to the care Astbury Mere has shown us all over the past year.

I am very pleased with the whole concept at Astbury Mere Care Home. My husband is happy here and the staff are wonderful. The whole place whilst very caring and supportive is filled with light, beautiful lounges and gardens to walk around or sit in. I couldn't wish for anything better than Astbury Mere
Care Home to care for the person I have spent most of my life with. A big thank you to everyone knowing that my loved one is settled and happy.

I have visited 11 dementia homes in the past 8 months in the Stockport and Greater Manchester area. NOT one comes close to the care, fantastic staff and experience at Astbury Mere Care Home. Taking my mum out of her home where she had lived for over 30 years was a living nightmare for me and my sister
as we couldn't physically cope with the deterioration of Mum's disease. We felt very alone and most of the other care homes showed little understanding of the relatives point of view. The staff at Astbury Mere Care Home put a broken family back together, they are angels in our eyes. A safe, warm, clean, trustworthy, bright, happy, healthy, friendly home.
Reply from Emma Harding, Home Manager at Astbury Mere Care HomeThank you so much for sharing your experience of our lovely home. Caring for our relatives, as well as our residents have always been a priority for the team and I will make sure to share your kind comments with them all. Thank you, Emma.

Since mum joined the home, she has been treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Her care has been excellent in every way. Not only is mum cared for and supported, but we as a family have also received support in so many ways. The home is very professionally run, yet has that "homely" feeling that
is so important - they look after you! All staff (in every department) work very hard - nothing is too much trouble for them.

My mother lived here for the last 3 1/2 years of her life. She died in Jan 2017 aged 92. At first, her quality of life was as good as possible despite losing her independence. She had a comfortable room, made new friends, enjoyed meals in the dining room and was able to wander out into the garden. Recently
when seriously ill the staff were brilliant, extremely kind and enabled my mother to die peacefully at the care home as she wished.

Regarding my mother's care at end of life on 1/4/16. The care she and my family received was second to none. Staff of all fields did all they could including tea, coffee and biscuits while we sat with her for her last five days. We feel as a family that we could not have been treated better anywhere
and her death was painless as possible.

My aunty moved in to Asbury as a permanent resident after four weeks respite, it is a big change for her but everyone has been very kind, helpful and caring. I have come in contact with staff in all areas, all are welcoming, helpful and polite. The residents meeting was informative, interesting. It's
a shame more relatives don't take the time to go! I spend a lot of time in the home and apart from a few 'niggles' I have seen nothing that would make me feel unhappy about her living there. It's a lovely place with a full activities programme and events held regularly.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.818)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.818) out of 10 for Astbury Mere Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.818 for Astbury Mere Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (283 Excellents x 5) + (55 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 341 Ratings = 4.818
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Astbury Mere Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
