Very impressive in all aspects, from our first visit twelve months ago, to date. Facilities, staff, friendly and welcoming, attention to details, clean, tidy and so on...
A couple of glitches along the way, which have been attended to promptly.
I would recommend arranging a visit and see for yourselves.

Over the years of visiting my mother-in-law, I have greatly appreciated the care she receives. The key to this has been the staff, who are exemplary and consistently go above and beyond. The one area where further improvement could be made for her is greater involvement in trips and outings. However
the entertainment is excellent! Thanks for everything you do.

The staff are all kind, helpful and polite. Nothing is too much for them to help. There is a happy and relaxed atmosphere on mum's unit, which only changes when needs must. Mum has a choice at each meal and is well fed. The food is lovely I've arranged a private lunch with mum so have sampled it many
times. Mum is very happy which makes me very happy.

My mother is enjoying life at Hartfield House. She is safe, warm and being well looked after, all of which is so important at 90 years of age and while suffering from dementia. There is a lovely, friendly atmosphere in the home. It is bright, modern and spacious, in a quiet tucked-away location with
a lovely garden that we can enjoy in the summer months. The carers and all the staff are kind, thoughtful and very attentive to the residents' needs. There are plenty of daily activities on offer for those able to participate, including outings on the minibus.

Penhurst Gardens Care Home

from Russ F (Son of Resident) published on 27 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My dad was placed in to care in January 2026, following a permanent brain injury. I looked at 58 care homes across local counties, created a shortlist, of which Penhurst Gardens was one. As soon as we arrived my family was stunned by the amazing facilities and welcoming staff. Lynne the care home manager
is an absolute asset to the home, and really took the time to explain not just the facility but the process before admission and what to expect during settlement and longer term, something other homes did not do. Rather than just focussing on "trying to get a sale", it was clear from the beginning that my dad's wellbeing, and finding the right home, was the focus. As we toured the facility we met other staff, all of whom were extremely polite and professional. The facility itself, wow, it is like a 5 star hotel but whilst still keeping a homely friendly familiar feel. Dad has been there for three weeks now, and we know we definitely made the right choice, cannot recommend it enough.
Reply from Lynne Elliott, Home Manager at Penhurst Gardens Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave such a kind and thoughtful review of Penhurst Gardens. It is an honour to care for your Dad, and I am pleased to hear that I could help you and your Dad.

Savernake View Care Home

from Lorna W (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
When looking for a care home for mum, I visited about fifteen places in Gloucester, Cheltenham and surrounding areas. We needed somewhere where mum could have both privacy and company and where she could continue to live a stimulating life with quality care. Savernake View stood out as offering a warm
but professional approach to care and mum also felt immediately welcome. Since arriving in September 2025, mum has made new friends, joined book group, been out on numerous visits to places of interest, enjoyed many performances and activities organised by the enthusiastic events team and is rarely at a loss for something to do. Savernake View defies all the stereotypes of a care home; the place is often buzzing with chat between residents and staff and all the staff are warm and positive. Communication with us as a family is excellent; we can rely on the care team to get in touch. Mum is no longer lonely and is enjoying life to the full in a safe place.

I have been to the Valentine's day afternoon tea time with my lovely friend (she is a resident) and I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for the lovely afternoon tea. Everything was beautifully arranged, and it was such a warm and welcoming experience. The delicious treats, the tea, and most
of all the wonderful company made it truly special. Special thanks to Kelly, Katie, Kate, the excellent chef and kitchen staff and everyone who was involved. Thank you very much!
It was a joy to spend the afternoon together, and it really brightened our day. Thank you for creating such a comfortable and cheerful atmosphere for everyone.

We were so impressed with the quality and presentation of the "Afternoon at a high end hotel" Valentines day tea.
We felt very lucky to be invited to enjoy this wonderful event, with my Mum, as guests.
The Entertainment Team worked very hard to organise and serve the guests and we were very impressed
with the Guest Vocalist.
An uplifting and joyous event.

Kelly and Katie organised a fantastic Valentines afternoon tea for us all to enjoy with my mother, wife, brother and sister in law.
Darren, Kelly's husband, kindly stepped in to sing when the entertainer let them down.
Absolutely fabulous food from the kitchen.
All in all, a wonderful afternoon.
Can't thank everyone enough.

This is a thank-you to everyone who organised and took part in the Valentine Day's celebrations last Sunday. I was unable to attend myself but I had a remarkably favourable report from a close family friend who visited Tonbridge House and attended the afternoon's events with my wife. You offered an
excellent spread of food and it seemed that everyone enjoyed it hugely. Many thanks.

An excellent care home. All staff are kind, compassionate & caring. Family well supported. Excellent activities. Food is of a good quality but needs to be adapted for age of residents e.g. shepherds pie (more old fashioned foods). I feel my parents are safe, secure & very well looked after. External
GP always in a rush & not spending enough time with each person. Overall - Superb!

My dad had 2 weeks respite care and was very happy and content. The staff were all so kind, always smiling and taking great care of the residents. He really enjoyed all the meals and ate well despite his dementia. We tried the meals and the cakes in the cafe, it was all very tasty. We were relieved
that he was kept mobile and he participated in crafts and puzzles. Thank you for all your great care and kindness.

The continued care of my parents is exemplary at Cotswold Gate Care Home. The staff are the most amazingly friendly and caring team. They have gently encouraged my mother to engage more in activities that she does now every day. My father loves the cinema room and is found there most afternoons. More
importantly they both feel safe, secure and know that there is always someone on hand. As my mum says 'we love it here'.

During Mum's end of life care, the home was attentive, caring and personally involved in her final days.
The pack of lighting, music and other sensory items created a calm and dignified atmosphere.

My mum is currently on respite and will be going permanent soon, I was so weary of my mum going into a home but Upton Mill really put my mind at ease with everything, the staff are amazing in every way and I feel like they are my other little family already and my mum absolutely loves it there as we
were so sure she wouldn't like it but they have all made her feel so welcome and I can start to get some sleep knowing she's safe and happy.. I have been to other care homes but Upton mill stands out above all the rest of them. Highly recommended. Plus my dogs get treats and cuddles from everyone..

My father was in barley manor from early December 25 to 18th February 26
Our family were very happy with care home in most aspects the staff were very helpful, kind and considerate for Dad who'd just had a mini stroke! Dad enjoyed the food and some of the activities (he only did a few)
He was a bit
disgruntled due to all the nice food he could see being given to other residents & would have liked that too, but with his level of diet he wasn't allowed it. & he do missed having fish & chips !!
Our only criticism ( & only in the early days) was lack of notification of dads medical needs, symptoms or what he was having to do, I think Christmas got in the way a bit too, so no one's fault really. Overall it was a 10 out of 10 - again only because we had never had to do anything like the - at first the price came as a bit of a shock, but again we learned that was the norm!
Now dad has moved out to he back home - we'll always bear in mind if things worsen again, he'd wouldn't mind returning
Reply from Narcis Militaru, Home Manager at Barley Manor Care HomeThank you for your kind feedback. I am glad to hear we were able to address your initial concerns and that your dad enjoyed his time with us. Please do feel free to pop in for coffee and a catch up soon!
