The whole Team at Barley Manor went above and beyond from my first phonecall. They worked on their days off and arranged emergency rest-bite over a bank holiday weekend. Once safely at the home they provided amazing care and support and made a difficult situation easier to handle. The home itself is
spotless and in a fabulous location. Huge thanks.

My Mum has dementia and has been at Barley Manor since January 2026. Her room is lovely, the facilities and food are excellent but the main thing that makes the home so wonderful is the staff! From Maddie on reception, to all of the nursing care team, the cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance team,
Narcis the manager and Jayne the activities lead, every staff member says hello with a warm smile, and goes out of their way to provide a caring and stimulating environment for Mum, and regular updates for me. The cafe is a wonderful hub within the home and a lovely place to sit with Mum for a hot chocolate.

My brother has been in the home since May 2025 and the care I have witnessed has been heartwarming. The staff create an enviroment like a family home with lots of love and involvement in quality of life. There are many activities for residence and, for those that cannot partake in them, someone to hold
their hand and talk to them.

We have used Barley Manor when care required for Mum during 2024/25 and 26, plus 2 weeks respite for my late Dad in 2025. The welcoming, kind and caring nature of staff, along with lovely environment, fantastic meals, companionship and varied activities have made their stays relaxing and enjoyable.
Nothing is too much trouble. I highly recommend Barley Manor.

My Mum came to Barley Manor for respite care following a hip replacement. From the administration, catering team, through to the carers, the staff were always friendly, caring and helpful. Charli the floor manager was super helpful on Mum's transition back to her own home ensuring, she had the required
supply of medication and re-registered her back to her own GP surgery. As family we were grateful for their care of Mum

My dad had 2 weeks respite care and was very happy and content. The staff were all so kind, always smiling and taking great care of the residents. He really enjoyed all the meals and ate well despite his dementia. We tried the meals and the cakes in the cafe, it was all very tasty. We were relieved
that he was kept mobile and he participated in crafts and puzzles. Thank you for all your great care and kindness.

My father was in barley manor from early December 25 to 18th February 26
Our family were very happy with care home in most aspects the staff were very helpful, kind and considerate for Dad who'd just had a mini stroke! Dad enjoyed the food and some of the activities (he only did a few)
He was a bit
disgruntled due to all the nice food he could see being given to other residents & would have liked that too, but with his level of diet he wasn't allowed it. & he do missed having fish & chips !!
Our only criticism ( & only in the early days) was lack of notification of dads medical needs, symptoms or what he was having to do, I think Christmas got in the way a bit too, so no one's fault really. Overall it was a 10 out of 10 - again only because we had never had to do anything like the - at first the price came as a bit of a shock, but again we learned that was the norm!
Now dad has moved out to he back home - we'll always bear in mind if things worsen again, he'd wouldn't mind returning

My husband spent three comfortable and safe weeks having respite care at Barley Manor in late September and through October, and we both send huge thanks to all the staff for their care and attention. It is always difficult choosing a Care Home, and our choice was guided by location, and by personal
visits. Barley Manor has only been open for one year and so there were only a few reviews or personal recommendations. The Care Home is beautifully appointed and from the moment of entering, there is a huge welcome. The decor is lovely, the staff so friendly and caring and the food is quite excellent. . The cafe on the ground floor is a hub for everyone to gather and socialise - and enjoy too many delicious freshly baked cakes and pastries! Visitors likened it to a 5* hotel.
I had the reassurance that my husband was being very professionally and well looked after while I was away.
We would recommend Barley Manor to all and everyone without hesitation, and wish it a continued success.

My Dad moved into Barley Manor three weeks ago and has settled well. The care home has a warm, friendly atmosphere and my Dad and us, as a family, have been made to feel welcome.
The admission process was informative, clear and above all empathetic and thoughtful. The client services manager listened
to my Dad's needs and then sensitively helped choose a suitable room for him. This person thought about Dad as an individual, not just someone to fill a room, she showed compassion and attention to detail.
The staff want my Dad to be happy, which is exemplified by the activity ladies who make a point of checking in with Dad and to our delight have got him attending events they put on, eg quiz. They listen to Dad, tune into his conversations and try to accommodate his interests.
The care team seems patient, calm, and responsive. Dad has had a few moments when he has felt anxious, but this is always quickly rectified, which is reassuring.
I would recommend Barley Manor wholeheartedly

My experience is limited but overall I have a high regard for Barley Manor. In a new building it is stylishly decorated with many additional facilities such as a cafe, cinema, gym and hairdresser. There is also a beautiful garden. The staff are professional & caring. The food is good and meal times
are generally pleasant & relaxed. A good programme of entertainment & exercise is rn on a daily basis & there are trips out to e.g a National Trust. In summation a beautiful well run care home

Barley Manor is an excellent nursing home. From the emergency reception in January of my cousin with dementia to the present day the care, understanding and sympathy of all the staff has been exceptional. The design and furnishing of the whole home and gardens is aimed at comfort and stimulation. The
activities provided for residents presses the right buttons of memories and involvement. The integration of local surgery and nursing home care is exemplary. My cousin has found the comfort and care she needs. Well done, Barley Manor.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.852)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.852) out of 10 for Barley Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.852 for Barley Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (377 Excellents x 5) + (57 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 438 Ratings = 4.852
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barley Manor Care Home is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, my name is Narcis, and I am the Home Manager here at Barley Manor Care Home.

I have worked in the senior care sector for almost ten years, before which I was a firefighter and a paramedic. I have been a qualified nurse since 2014, which is also the year I moved to England. Throughout my career, I have been a home manager at several other care providers.

Looking to the future, I am excited to form a reliable, strong and enthusiastic team who will work together to provide exceptional care and establish our home as a top choice in Cambridgeshire for nursing, residential, dementia and respite care.

Outside of work, I am a big fan of sports, particularly skiing, boxing, football and fishing. I also have two children aged six and one, who I like to spend as much of my spare time as possible with.
