I think we are treated well and made to feel important which is good for moral. Everybody is extremely pleasant and helpful and I have enjoyed my sessions in the gym with a member of staff. The ladies who run activities are also very good at making mornings fun. Food is good and the theatre also makes life interesting.

I had been struggling to care for my husband's deteriorating Alzheimer's and really needed a break. I was so lucky to find Barley Manor, brand new with wonderful facilities so close to home. All the staff were welcoming, helpful and so empathetic. I was anxious about how he would settle in, and it took a few days, but thanks to the kind and supportive staff he eas happy there and even joined in the activities.

Thank you so much.

After I had been in hospital, my daughter and I looked at my having a period of rest and recuperation In a care home. We planned to visit Barley Manor.. Before this happened I had a fall and we decided to ask for a quick admission. The manager himself came to set up the move and to answer all our questions. The move took place two days later and it was as easy as checking into an hotel. My ground floor single room with en-suite overlooked a peaceful garden area and it was of a good size. The building itself was very well provided with public rooms including lounges, dining room, hairdresser, cafe, cinema and gym. The food was of good quality especially the cakes and desserts and i could have had any of the meals as room service.
It's all about the quality of the staff. They were all friendly and very well trained for their roles and were responsive to any concerns. Nothing was too much trouble. The management is to be congratulated.

This sets the gold standard for carehomes.

After an extremely stressful past two months with the decline of my mother's Alzheimer's, it became apparent to myself and brothers that she would need to have 24-hour care. We searched around the area and viewed a few places and our last visit was to Barley Manor Care Home.
When we arrived, we had a lovely, warm greeting from the client services manager, she showed us around, spoke to us of her own experiences with her own mother, which was very personal and open. We had a long discussion with her, which made our choice a whole lot easier.
My mother was discharged from hospital straight to Barley Manor, the transition was seamless, the staff were very welcoming and put her at ease.
She was adamant she didn't want to stay but with their attention to detail and the way the staff have listened to her needs, she is now settling in very well and even taking part in activities which is a joy to see for us all.

Her care has been exemplary. A great place for our mother to be.

Following a challenging time in hospital for my mum after a fall at home, we needed to find some local short-term respite care for her before returning home. The team were exceptionally welcoming from initial enquiry through to show around and Mum moving in.

Barley Manor Care Home is more than I could have ever hoped for in care. After worrying for a long time, the step change from home to 24-hour care, I shouldn't have as the team has cared for Mum so well and now has stayed full-time. A beautiful home for a loved one putting both her and me at ease. Thank you.

I needed to find a care home at very short notice for my father, I called the care home at 11 am and by 2 pm, everything was in place to receive him that night. We arrived late at night (around 11 pm) and were met by four members of staff who took care of everything, making him feel comfortable and secure on his first night in a strange bed. It was an amazing feat by the team at a time when we desperately needed a home for Dad.
Since then, the care has been first-class at every level, from just looking after my father to taking care of his medical needs: all of the team are lovely, the facilities are first-class (think five-star hotel).

Putting my father into care was an immensely difficult decision: reflecting on it 2 weeks later he ls so happy there and thanked me for doing it; this is down to the amazing facilities and staff at the home without which I doubt he would be as happy as he is.

Generally good, sometimes there seems to be staff shortages, this could be due to recent opening. Television provided - disappointed there is no catch-up facility.

The family chose this home because of its proximity to hospital where my wife was being treated. The staff were all very kind and accommodating and flexible in meeting my wife's changing needs. It was lovely to see the staff working together as a team for the benefit and comfort of the residents and the visiting family and friends.

Since moving here, he seemed to settle in very well and adapted to the new routine.
The staff, all of them, are very kind and friendly, they always have time to chat.
The room is lovely. The home is beautiful.
If there is an issue, there is always someone to listen and help.
Food is lovely most of the time.

During the summer, mainly, but now as well, we have to find someone to unlock the door to be able to go out for a walk, which isn't always easy but understand why!

I am 86 and suddenly, through family circumstances, decided that I should be looked after in a Care Home. I wanted one near my home and was shown round five, staying for two weeks in one. However, as I was shown round Barley Manor Care Home, there was no choice. It felt so welcoming and comfortable that I booked a room immediately. I am finding that I have many friends visiting as there are well used shops nearby and so many of the residents have friends in common. It is like having a large, happy family which includes the staff who are so willing to help and so caring.

I had, in the past year, started to consider whether it was sustainable as a 90-year-old to be living alone. I had a fall 6 weeks ago and broke my hip, resulting in a 4 week hospital stay. The hospital was pressing me to return home but while in hospital, I decided to move into residential care. My daughter came to visit Barley Manor Care Home (they saw her at very short notice) and a room was available which I took on a respite basis. After a week at Barley Manor, the support and care (and friendship) I received from all brought me to the decision that I did need to be in residential care and that I wanted that to be at Barley Manor. There is a very friendly feel to this care home between both staff and residents and also the relatives of residents. I feel my dignity is considered always and I am receiving great care.

We needed emergency respite care for my dad and the home was very helpful in sorting this out over a weekend. From the start, the staff were excellent - very attentive to Dad's nursing needs and very caring and thoughtful in the way they looked after him. They all went above and beyond what was required. The room itself was very comfortable and peaceful with a lovely view onto the garden. As visitors, we were made very welcome. We are very grateful and would strongly recommend Barley Manor Care Home.

My brother-in-law moved into Barley Manor Care Home about a month ago. At the time, I told friends and family that he was moving from two-star to four-star care. I'm now telling them that he has moved to five-star care. He has settled in really quickly, has become much more coherent and responsive. He always seems to be smiling which was not the case before. All in all, the move has been a wholly positive experience.

I should add: the food is delicious and he is putting on (much-needed) weight.

My mum was the third resident at this newly opened care home, so inevitably there was a degree of uncertainty as to whether there may be any problems as the operation got going. I had been very reassured by my visits and meeting the staff: the design of the home made it feel homely despite only having a few residents; there was a full team of staff who had already been in place for several weeks before opening; the staff that I met were very professional and caring; the decor and furnishings were very high quality.

Our experience has more than lived up to initial impressions. The staff are all delightful, friendly, attentive and caring. There is a lot of effort put into ensuring the residents are comfortable, secure and stimulated. The food is excellent. Visitors are made to feel welcome and offered good facilities. Communication is excellent. It is very reassuring to know that Mum is being very well looked after in a comfortable, caring environment.

We needed emergency respite care for both our parents. Management and their team were amazing at sorting out places for them both, at very short notice, over a weekend. Our parents are enjoying their second week at Barley Manor Care Home and already I feel the staff know them both very well, catering not only for their individual medical needs but also aware of what they enjoy doing. They think of everything, down to the smallest details. The food is amazing too. It will be difficult to get my dad to leave. Here's hoping they decide to return for longer respite. You really are in for a treat. This place is like a five-star resort with staff to match who genuinely seem interested in the residents. The team at Barley Manor go above and beyond to ensure everyone's needs are met and that we are kept informed. Thank you! We could not have got through this fortnight without your amazing care.

Hello, my name is Narcis, and I am the Home Manager here at Barley Manor Care Home.

I have worked in the senior care sector for almost ten years, before which I was a firefighter and a paramedic. I have been a qualified nurse since 2014, which is also the year I moved to England. Throughout my career, I have been a home manager at several other care providers.

Looking to the future, I am excited to form a reliable, strong and enthusiastic team who will work together to provide exceptional care and establish our home as a top choice in Cambridgeshire for nursing, residential, dementia and respite care.

Outside of work, I am a big fan of sports, particularly skiing, boxing, football and fishing. I also have two children aged six and one, who I like to spend as much of my spare time as possible with.
