My Mum moved into Cavell Park August 2024, she had just turned 71. She agreed to move in due to her needing 24/7 nursing care.
She lived as part of the Cavell Park community until the 5th May 2026 when she passed peacefully.
During her time there she was respected, cared for and during her last
week, shown such compassion and care which as a family was so much needed. The staff clearly cared for my Mum as we were not the only ones in tears.
Staff are not only just supportive to the resident but the family visitors too, I went any time day or night to see my Mum.
Mum struggled with activities due to her health and being younger than the average resident. But there is a large activity menu, cinema and small gym there.
The building is modern and fresh, a cafe for residents and visitors, a nice garden to walk around and a lovely bunch of cheerful people working there always happy to help.
I would recommend Cavell Park to anyone needing full time care.
Reply from Gemma Fryer, Home Manager at Cavell Park Care HomeThank you for your heartfelt review. We're deeply sorry for your loss and grateful that our team could provide the care and compassion your Mum needed. Your kind words mean a lot to us. A delightful and welcoming environment. The ethos of care, dignity and respect absolutely pervades every part of this residential home. Residents are treated as mature adults who now in their later years require additional help to live valued lives. Staff are always welcoming, friendly, supportive and
informed. I know my relative is known as an individual and liked for who she is. The home is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. It always has a happy atmosphere with lots of activities and chatter.
Reply from Gemma Fryer, Home Manager at Cavell Park Care HomeThank you for your kind feedback. We know how important it is that our residents' individual personalities, likes and dislikes are honoured when they move into our home, so it is great to hear you feel this is true.

I came for respite care after a broken hip due to a fall, not knowing what to expect after reading bad reports on care homes, but I can say all I have received is wonderful treatment and service from a very caring staff. The room is immaculate, very nice to be in. With all the help and needs catered
for, even with my health set backs I and they have endured. I feel like this is my home and the staff I regard as my family, and I am deeply sad to be leaving.

My parents went into Cavell Park just over a year ago and I left a review in their first couple of weeks to say how wonderful the staff and facilities are. A year on, I thought it may help others in making their decision based on so much more knowledge this time around. In short, we could not have made
a better decision than to choose Cavell Park. The kindness of the team, no matter whether you are talking about catering, housekeeping, reception, caregivers, activities or management, is exceptional. Mum and Dad were both quite poorly when they arrived in January 2025. Over a year on, they are thriving. The atmosphere is just lovely. The residents care for one another too and it is lovely to see the friendships in the Bistro area. The team really knows each individual and the whole building operates like one big family. I feel like family! It is quite an incredibly run place. Gemma and Cristina - you are amazing, along with all of your team. Thank you so much for the kindness and care.

My sister and I are very pleased with how quickly our mother has settled in. The staff are very caring and, although mum seemed a little anxious at first, she now seems much more relaxed. It is very reassuring for us that she is receiving the care and support that she deserves at this stage of her life.

The atmosphere in the home is very friendly and homely. The staff are very considerate and caring and all the staff know the residents by name. The staff are very attentive to residents and families, and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are kept clean, tidy and in good condition, and the food
is of good quality and freshly cooked on site. My father was a resident for six months and was very happy there. I cannot praise the home enough.

After being in hospital for 5 weeks it was a treat to come to Cavell Park. I know of the care at another care home (in the same group) so was prepared for a relaxing treat in order to get strong and fit to manage at home without carers coming in. Thanks to all the staff & fellow residents I leave to
go home today!

My stay was required for respite care after spending six weeks in hospital after passing out at home and breaking numerous bones etc in back & chest plus other problems. After standing with walking frame, the hospital discharged me only option was to go home with NHS carers, or find your own respite
care in a care home.
This care home has met all my needs and more, I can now move on with life outside hospitals. Thank you.

The care that my mother received has been way above and beyond my expectations. The staff are truly wonderful, compassionate and it can be seen clearly in their eyes how upset they have been at the treatment my mother received in her previous care facility. Virtually starving from lack of help she ate
a 3 course meal when she arrived here and enjoyed a bath. She trusted the staff immediately on arrival. I cannot thank the staff enough for their warm welcome and support for both my mother and me.

I find Cavell Park a really good nursing home, the management and staff are all very helpful and caring, although my wife has been there for two months, she is treated like one of the family and is loved by everyone. As I write this, the weather is very hot (33 degrees), and although my wife has a fan
supplied by the family, could the rooms not be fitted with fans for such a modern nursing home?
Reply from Gemma Fryer, Home Manager at Cavell Park Care HomeThank you for leaving such a wonderful review, we really appreciate your kind words. Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.842)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.842) out of 10 for Cavell Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.842 for Cavell Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (378 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 442 Ratings = 4.842
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cavell Park Care Home is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 69 registered maximum number of service users is 13.8, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
