This is my 3rd respite stay at Astbury Mere Care Home.I have again been impressed with the care and dedication given by all branches of staff, nothing is to much trouble. Astbury offer a good menue each day and the food is presented well. The accomodation, each room is self contained and of good size.
My only comment would be that a higher seating chair should be available, this also applies to the lounge area as well.
Reply from Emma Hackett, Home Manager at Astbury Mere Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a kind review, Brian. You are always welcome at Astbury Mere, it is our pleasure having you stay with us. We will make sure to take your feedback about seating into consideration with the respective teams.

I visited yesterday my friend on the ground floor we had a coffee and biscuit in the bistro always welcomed
Whilst visiting there were a mother and daughter enjoying a coffee who explained mum was a respite stay last year and still comes to visit the staff and have a coffee as it is such a positive
home who helped her at a bad time last year
That just confirmed my friend off 50 years is in the est care home in macclesfield looked after with dignity a
Love and care
That means the world

Although this care home is very modern and always kept clean & tidy I feel there are several areas that need attention these include:
There isn;t always senior staff on duty on floor 1 particularly at the weekend, which is a security concern. I feel the desk there should always be manned.
Activities
seem largely constrained to Mon-Fri with not much going on at the weekends for patients.
I think the rooms are drab and could be improved even something as simple as the hanging of one large print.
Quite often food is left to go stale in the rooms which hints of staff shortages.
On the plus side I was pleased to see some gardening work had been undertaken to spruce up the main entrance. Also the carers there do seem very nice and are always helpful when asked,
Reply from Joanne Elliott, Regional Director at Prestbury House Care Home

I am sorry to hear you feel there are various areas we could improve. We will be sure to take these into consideration, and if you would like to discuss your concerns further please do not hesitate to reach out to our home manager.

My experience with care homes, my negative views were mixed with the amount of care given to my family at the time, but since my wife came to Astbury Mere, my attitude to care homes has changed drastically. It's put faith into my view into care, which Astbury is all about.

Prestbury House care home has provided excellent standards of accommodation, facilities and very caring and competent staff throughout my stay there. I am pleased to recommend them highly accordingly. However I have some concern that adequate car parking may be available at busy time, but this may not
be a problem.

This is more like a hotel than a care home. The rooms the patients have are of a good size and with its own full facilities. Food is of high quality. Staff show good empathy with patients and there is a very good staff/patient ratio. Staff are very welcoming to visitors and greet us by name. Although
it is 10 miles away from home and not the cheapest, my family and I decided it was the best place for her. She is very happy here.

Overall our experience of mum being in Astbury Mere is very good. The only thing we can really fault is not enough staff on to assist residents with general duties e.g going to the toilet. Pleased with all the activities, staff helpful, food is very good.

In the 8 years my mum was a resident in general we've been happy with the overall service. The outstanding aspect has been the individual care workers who have been amazing. They've offered support, that suggests it's more than a job. The management has been a continued revolving door, with many of
the managers being invisible, and purely interested in the bottom line.
Reply from Joanne Elliott, Regional Director at Prestbury House Care Home

Thank you for your review. I am glad you were happy overall with the care your mum received and felt supported by our team. I am sorry to hear you were not content with our management situation. Unfortunately, we cannot always control when our team members decide to leave us, but we do our best to make these transitions as smooth as possible for our residents and their loved ones. Our current home manager has been with us since July 2024 and joined us with ten years of experience as a home manager and a great reputation in the local area. Should you wish to discuss this further or provide more feedback about your experience, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Wish to thank all the lovely staff at Prestbury House Care Home, for helping my mother with the transition of moving into residential care, and taking extra time to understand her likes and dislikes - very professional organisation. Every team member is pleasant and helpful and nothing is too much trouble.

We are so lucky to know she is safe and receiving such good care and enjoying lots of different food choices which she wouldn't usually eat. She says the food is delicious.

I have had several stays at Astbury Mere Care Home on discharge from the hospital after having a severe chest infection, therefore time spent mainly in my room rather than taking part in activities. Help given when requested, call bell always to hand and answered in good time. As on respite care helped
to maintain my independence for going home again, the staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely to have the bathroom cleaned daily and fresh towels daily. Laundry good and returned in good time, freshly laundered and ironed. Meals varied and selection so there's always something to choose from. Only grumble is tea served at 17.00 when used to eating at 19.00 but you get used to it.

My sister-in-law enjoys respite stays at Astbury Mere and always receives excellent care and friendliness while she is there. She often books in for one or two weeks at a time but very often stays longer. They make her feel cared for, safe and comfortable and I think she feels it is hard to go home
sometimes as they look after her so well. Many thanks to all the staff.
