I required respite for my partner at very short notice and when I spoke to the manager at Falkland Grange I was impressed by the way she dealt with my request and my partner was in the home the following day. The staff at FG are all helpful and professional and most of all caring. Full marks to Daniela
and her team.
Reply from Daniela Barros, Home Manager at Falkland Grange Care HomeWe know how difficult it can be both emotionally and logistically to find care at such short notice, so I am glad we were able to support you and your partner at this time.

From the first time I visited Falkland Grange, I was impressed by the warm welcome that I received from all of the staff. Dad's transition was handled sensitively, and we were both supported with every step.
Dad has now been in residence for 6 weeks, and all is going well.

My mum was discharged to Falkland Grange after spending seven weeks in hospital after a fall that required a femur mend and hip replacement. After the first week, my mum had made friends and said how good the carers were. She looked great and was very happy. Since then, Mum has grown in confidence,
she has put on weight, chats with the other residents and participates in activities and outings. She says everyone is very kind. Knowing that Mum is eating well, getting her medication at the right time and benefitting from 24 hour support has been a huge relief to me.
Reply from Daniela Barros, Home Manager at Falkland Grange Care HomeThank you for your heart-warming feedback. It fills me with pride to hear your mum has improved throughout her time at Falkland Grange.

This is a wonderful care home with excellent facilities and resources, a lively and thoughtful activities programme, wonderful food, and outstanding care by sympathetic and empathetic staff. Families are very much encouraged to join in and visit often (I visit every day). My father only came for 2 weeks'
respite care whilst I had an operation, and then he wanted to stay. He has made new friends and tried new activities here, too. Thank you to everyone at Falkland Grange.

We were needing to find a placement for our mother at short notice following a hospital admission. Falkland Grange were very responsive and sensitive, and kind in assessing and offering a place very quickly. We could not be more impressed by the care of all the staff who treat the whole family with
kindness and my mum and dad with dignity too. The facilities and activities are excellent too.

From the moment I called to enquire the staff at Falkland Grange have been outstanding. My initial 'look around' was ad-hoc but set the positive tone. The home is bright and airy, spacious and there are plenty of modern facilities. I'm constantly surprised by the friendliness of all the staff and the
time they have to spend with residents - there is a calmness and positivity throughout which is refreshing. The entrance and 'Bistro' has a hotel feel and is welcoming - the rooms, shared areas and kitchens clean and, I have to say, the food score from an incredibly picky resident very high! There's always something happening and those involved in the activities are genuinely passionate about engagement. Transitioning from independent living to care has been a bumpy ride, I can't lie, but we've had strong and active support from the team who understand the challenges and have offered sound advice.

Having tried previous home which was satisfactory but didn't understand my husband's need to be able to see outside and be able to walk around. Since he has been @ Falklands he is very settled and bright the staff seem to understand the needs of dementia people without resorting to drugs as a last resort.
I
will be having a weeks holiday shortly and I feel comfortable that my husband will be well looked after and he will be happy.
Reply from Rebecca Lucas, Home Manager at Falkland Grange Care HomeThank you for your feedback. I am glad to hear you feel we have been able to provide the appropriate care for your husband. Falkland Grange provided mum with exceptional care. All her needs were met with kindness and compassion. Her room was lovely and could be personalised with her favourite things. The nursing team were proactive and kept us well informed, and the carers were exceptional. Couldn't fault it. Thank you to

Falkland Grange goes the extra mile to care for their residents. Not only do they do all the essential caring and wellbeing duties professionally, they also stimulate them with many extra curricular activities that give the residents a sense of engagement with the community. There are visits by children
who sing; experts bringing animals in to stimulate the audience, and local events taking place. There is bell ringing and carol singers at Christmas too.
All relatives are encouraged to be involved in events and talks and attend as many as they can. The staff at Falkland Grange are friendly and open to discussion about all things that matter to the family members they care for.
I often pop in for coffee and a chat with my father and the friends he has. My father enjoys his time there, and is safe and well looked after. Thank you
Reply from George Radoicovici, Home Manager at Falkland Grange Care HomeThank you for your fantastic feedback. I have visited many Care Homes over the past 20 years as three members of my close family have needed to move into care. From our very first visit my son, daughter and I were very impressed with the manner in which we were treated and the warmth shown to us by all the staff as we walked around the home.
Since my husband moved into his lovely room we have been very impressed. Many staff made a visit to his room and introduced themselves to him and have subsequently continued to engage him in conversation. We feel he is well cared for and very safe in the environment. The Activities Team have taken an interest in his interests and are eager to encourage him to get involved. We are of the opinion that Falkland Grange is the right place for him. Thank you everyone.

Falkland Grange is a beautiful care home. I have my old brother with Dementia and my mother with Parkinson both have moved here in the last few weeks. So far I cannot fault this home all the staff are so helpful. Last Sunday we booked the family room to have dinner for all the family, the head Chef
was great, he was so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed.

Overall, a very good service provided by Falklands from what we have experienced thus far. The rooms are wonderful like a hotel to be honest and the common room areas are wonderful. I was so pleased to see the range of activities that are available to the residents to make their stay mentally active
and stimulating. They do all they can do to make your loves ones stay as enjoyable as possible. Very pleased that my auntie was lucky enough to get a place. The overall level of care and service is fabulous. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the care home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.801)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.801) out of 10 for Falkland Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.801 for Falkland Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (220 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 272 Ratings = 4.801
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Falkland Grange Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
