Falkland Grange Care Home opened in 2019 and provides residential, dementia, nursing and respite care for individuals living in Newbury and the wider Berkshire area. As with all Porthaven care homes, the team at Falkland Grange provide 24 hour support for their residents in an environment purpose-built for care. A place to live well, residents at Falkland Grange have their own generously sized bedrooms with private en suite wetrooms as well as various communal living and dining areas to enjoy. All residents at Falkland Grange also benefit from access to the home's cinema, hair and nail salon, activities and wellbeing room, café for catching up with loved ones and private dining room for celebrating special family occasions. With activities on offer seven days a week, there is no shortage of entertainment for residents at Falkland Grange, who can also choose to spend their time in the home's secure and spacious gardens.

My Mother was already in a different care facility, but her care was inconsistent, particularly on the weekends, when a lot of agency staff were used. So, we decided to look at some alternative options and we came across Falkland Grove. I have 2 sisters, one living in America and I must say, the communication
between Falklands and all of us was fantastic, which is really important when you're making important decisions and living far away from each other. The CSM, showed the three of us around on separate occasions, giving each of us equal time and attention, and asking any questions we had.
After many discussions, we decided to move Mum to Falklands, and I'm thrilled we did. She received a fantastic welcome from everybody, as did we, which instantly put my mind at ease. Everyone has been so warm, caring and professional, taking time to understand Mum's needs and doing their best to keep mum calm in what is a very stressful situation.

My sister-in-law was a resident for approximately one year after experiencing a series of falls at home. Her age at the time was 89 and she died some twelve months later. I want to place on record the complete satisfaction of my wife and myself with the manner in which she was treated and cared for.
She was extremely happy as a resident. When she became ill the staff could not have been more caring and helpful. She was never in pain and we drew great comfort from that - especially as we live some 200 miles from Newbury.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to both management and staff. Towards the end of her stay in the home, we were offered lunch in the private dining room which gave her enormous joy. Thank you everyone for making her stay so comfortable.

Falkland Grange offers excellent care facilities to my mother who has been a resident there since April 2021. The staff are friendly, welcoming and above all very caring. There is a good range of activities for residents to enjoy and the standard of food is excellent. The overall attention to detail
is fantastic, there has been a great deal of consideration made to the needs of the residents who live there. I have no hesitation in recommending Falkland Grange when asked.

At Falkland all the staff have been so wonderful to my aunt whist she has been in their care and still to this date!
We came in for a visit on Monday, I also had my little girl with me who is two. The staff were amazing with her allowing her to eat her dinner in there, have a drink and chatted away
to her! This was so lovely, as a family we are watching our aunt become very unwell but having some normality in there just helps with the whole process!

I cannot fault the cleanliness of the environment or the quality of the food provided. The manager is responsive when you raise issues. The variety of trips out are good and the activities team.
Dad did not settle at Falkland Grange and has moved to a smaller home, he has dementia.
My issue unfortunately
with Falkland Grange was medication, the management of it and the lack of honesty or responsibility for the administration of it by the frontline staff.
The management team met with me when I requested their time but clarity around why issues with medication had occurred was missing. Approach from frontline staff on one occasion was rude, inappropriate and terribly distressing. I was given an apology by the manager. It's sad as we had such high hopes but accuracy around medication is important.
Dad's clothing went missing and I have now been asked to submit receipts for the items lost, I didn't expect to have to provide these in order to be reimbursed. I have still not received any funds.

Super staff, lovely interactions with me, my grandma and any residents I saw on my visit. The home is always incredibly clean and well-resourced. My friend is living at Falkland Grange with Dementia and she is very happy and content as though she has always lived there. She is treated with kindness, dignity and respect. I have been encouraged to maintain my connections and visit as often as I can. She is involved in activities, the activity man
makes an effort with her and always knows how to make her laugh and join in with things. You can tell he has taken the time to know her background and how to get the best out of her, her face changes when she starts joking with him. She has always been a quiet lady who spent time in smaller friendship circles, so to see this connection does make a big difference to her socialising in a place she now calls home. All teams are fantastic, can't fault anyone for their help.

My Nan moved into Falkland Grange Care Home shortly before the first Covid lockdown and I have always found the home a very friendly and caring place to visit. During lockdown, my Nan had her 100th birthday and the Manager and staff could not have done more to give her a special celebration - they were
so aware of including our family in any way possible at the time. I’d like to thank Falklands Grange for the care they are giving my Nan, and I very much enjoy my visits.

My mum has been at the home for over a year now and a lot of the staff who look after her were there when she arrived. So the staff genuinely know her and take an interest in her health and well being. They know what activities she enjoys, and when she is feeling a bit 'under the weather' and they
do let me know. The food is always well balanced nutritionally and like home cooked food, not typical mass produced food. The whole home is always very clean and never smells stale.

What a home! Previously I had only visited a council home and assumed all were alike. How wrong was I! Falkland Grange is like a 5 star hotel with staff to match. My friend didn't have a bad word to say. He loves living there and I can see why. Staff were polite and attentive, the home was just that
- a home, and the facilities on offer are amazing. I just hope my finances will cover me in a home like this when I retire.

My husband and I came to visit a friend who is a resident at Falkland Grange Care Home. At the time of the visit, my husband had sadly been diagnosed with terminal cancer and had come to say his goodbyes to his friend. The management put on private dining for us (we knew nothing about this until we
arrived) so it could be personal and confidential at such sad times. The food was amazing and even catered for my son-in-law who is a Coeliac. The greeting we received on reception was very friendly, helpful and thoughtful given the circumstances. Management even came to greet us. All the care staff were caring. Whilst we were there the home had a great atmosphere as other residents were in the bistro area chatting and having tea with cake which was lovely to see. We loved the home and was so pleased to see our friend happy and settled.

I cannot praise this care home enough, all of the staff go above and beyond to help the residents feel part of their family. My husband has young onset dementia, he was very withdrawn and lonely before he became a resident of Falkland Grange, since his admission he is living the best life, he is happy,
he is engaged in meaningful activities, goes out on trips and is included in all of the social past times as possible. All of the staff always say hello to him in passing and got to know his likes and dislikes very quickly. I would and have recommended Falkland Grange Care Home to several of my friends. Family members that have visited have all stated what a wonderful place it is.

The home has been the perfect sanctuary for my grandma!
She was moved in rather quickly after an episode of delirium following an infection meant admission to hospital. From organising a viewing to getting my grandma moved in was a seamless and fantastic experience.
She absolutely adores it there
- the care she receives is superb, the activities are fantastic and she is truly happy there.
More recently, I’ve been liaising with the home about coming to do a talk for a charity event I’m doing for Alzheimer’s Society - the whole home and staff could not be more supportive and accommodating to help me organise something. Overall, a wonderful, wonderful home!

I think tick boxes say it all. I have not much to add in real detail except 1,2,3, below:
1. Rooms are very small and there is little space for the storage of clothes etc.
2. Dignity - I quote from a message I sent to my son:- Today I played Outdoor Softball Bowls and other players who were almost
all from the first floor here (mainly suffering from dementia etc). They are all treated so well here and they are really delightful residents.
3. Value for money - much affected by the rise in food prices and staff shortages.

I would like to share my grateful thanks to the wonderful care my Father received during his time at Falkland Grange. He experienced the best care anyone could possibly have. Falkland became a family to brother and myself. We were always made to feel so welcome during our visits and were always kept
informed of his health and well being. He was always treated with the utmost respect and never failed to tell us how wonderful the staff were.
My father died recently and the carers treated us with such sympathy and love. We will always return to have a cup of tea and chat with are friends at Falkland. I cannot recommend highly enough this wonderful care home.

Having experienced the standard of care in the home for my late Father I cannot thank the staff enough.
I cared for my father in his own home but started to struggle so I placed my father in the care of Falkland Grange.
The team are all amazing and I can't thank them enough. The nurse who completed
the pre assessment at home put my mind at ease and this continued to his last day. They supported me through a difficult period in our life.
Sadly my father has now passed away but my last memories are very kind.

I visited Falkland Grange Care Home as my friend's daughter moved in at the beginning of the year. I was really impressed it's friendly, clean, tidy and looks like a posh hotel.
The gardens are beautiful, I know my friend's daughter loves all the plants and birds especially.

I have worked in the care sector since 2000 and joined Falkland Grange as a team leader in 2020 before being promoted to night care manager in 2023. My work on both day and night shifts allows me to fully appreciate the value of the 24-hour care service our home provides to our residents.

Hello, my name is Caroline Palmer, and I am a Housekeeping Assistant here at Falkland Grange.


I have been working in housekeeping since 2018, and I have been part of the Falkland Grange team since our home first opened. I am passionate about our residents living in an environment that is clean, tidy and maintained to the high standard they deserve. As part of my role, I am responsible for overseeing our home's laundry and managing individuals in the housekeeping team, who are all just as passionate as I am about the cleanliness of our home.
