I would like to share my grateful thanks to the wonderful care my Father received during his time at Falkland Grange. He experienced the best care anyone could possibly have. Falkland became a family to brother and myself. We were always made to feel so welcome during our visits and were always kept
informed of his health and well being. He was always treated with the utmost respect and never failed to tell us how wonderful the staff were.
My father died recently and the carers treated us with such sympathy and love. We will always return to have a cup of tea and chat with are friends at Falkland. I cannot recommend highly enough this wonderful care home.
Reply from Carla Kell, Home Manager at Falkland Grange Care HomeThank you for your incredible comments and such high praise for the team, especially under such difficult circumstances. Your dad was such a joy to be around and a big part of the Falkland Grange family. He is deeply missed by everyone here, it truly was our pleasure to have been entrusted with his care.
Your kind words and high praise will be very much appreciated. We do hope you and your brother keep in touch and our door is always open if you'd like to pop in for a cup of tea. We are only a phone call away should you wish to talk.

Having experienced the standard of care in the home for my late Father I cannot thank the staff enough.
I cared for my father in his own home but started to struggle so I placed my father in the care of Falkland Grange.
The team are all amazing and I can't thank them enough. The nurse who completed
the pre assessment at home put my mind at ease and this continued to his last day. They supported me through a difficult period in our life.
Sadly my father has now passed away but my last memories are very kind.
Thank you everyone for being so caring.

I visited Falkland Grange Care Home as my friend's daughter moved in at the beginning of the year. I was really impressed it's friendly, clean, tidy and looks like a posh hotel.
The gardens are beautiful, I know my friend's daughter loves all the plants and birds especially.

My husband, some friends and I visited the home in order to make a special presentation to a friend who is one of the residents. The staff - and one member in particular - showed great interest in the event and could not have been more hospitable, even inviting some of the other residents to join in.
Refreshments were provided for us, free of charge, and the whole occasion was very pleasant, with the staff ensuring that our friend had her hair done and was prettily dressed for her special day. Thank you to everyone.

Mum's ideal is to live with her boys but that is not possible and Falkland has provided an alternative that she is really happy with. Everything is 100% and it is really comforting to know that mum is content, safe and really well cared for. Expensive but worth it. Thanks so much!

My father has been a resident for fifteen months and during this time has been well cared for despite him not being the easiest of people. His changing needs have always been met with enthusiasm and rigour. The staff are to a person, caring and kind, and my father always tells me how good they are.
The environment at Falkland Grange is well kept and again a credit to the staff. The meals are varied and appetising and always well presented.

I visited my aunt whilst she was at Falkland Grange Care Home the care she received was always to a very high standard. Sadly my aunt passed away but the end-of-life care she received was amazing. She was always made comfortable and the staff could not do enough for my aunt or our family. I would highly
recommend Falkland Grange Care Home to anyone looking for a place for their loved ones.

My dad couldn't be happier at Falkland Grange Care Home! I was so relieved when a room came up for him when we really needed it. All the staff are lovely, friendly and can't do enough to help. The other residents are lovely too, so my dad soon made some friends. He has been taken out on several trips
already, which he has really enjoyed. I can't recommend it enough!

Due to Covid restrictions, we have had limited exposure to the staff caring for Dad, however, those that we engaged with were professional and caring. Once it became clear that Dad was coming towards the end of his life we were kindly allowed more open access (after appropriate Covid testing and mask-wearing
in shared areas). We saw the Home in much more detail.

Firstly the care, both physical and emotional for Dad, was incredible. This was demonstrated in so many ways by the care manager, all the nurses, all the carers, all the office and reception staff, even the in house hairdresser and the lad who was doing the cleaning. The culture that came through from everyone was that they were all invested in and wanted to make sure they did the very best for Dad. It was extremely humbling to see the genuine care and love every one of them showed to Dad.

Staff were always asking whether we needed anything and even every member of staff knocked on the door and waited before entering

Things did not work out well for her. She was paying just over £8,000 for four week's stay. Including extra care to help her dress and other essential things, regularly this did not happen. The TV and the Internet often were not working and it was very difficult to comunícate with her.
There was no
phone available for at last five days, the emergency button did not work and she was gasping for breath, with no one to help her. I would consider that they are not organised at all and need a lot more attention paying to all sorts of things. I'm very happy to have got my mother out of there.
Reply from Carla Kell, Home Manager at Falkland Grange Care HomeI am really very sorry that we did not meet your expectations during your mother’s stay with us. I hope you will agree that we were quick to respond to these issues once they were brought to our attention but this is not the standard of service that we would ordinarily expect to provide as you will see from the many reviews from residents and relatives before you. It was, however, our pleasure to have Mum stay with us in this short period of time and I am saddened that the points raised in your comments overshadowed the good points from her stay.

It is unfortunate that we have only seen Falkland Grange during the pandemic and have not had free access. The management and staff are obviously keen for residents to treat Falkland Grange as their home and have welcomed contact with us. Residents are encouraged to keep their independence for as long
as possible and engage with the social activities. Each of the residents are treated as an individual. Falkland Grange has a homely feel to it and we are pleased that dad is there.

Having heard great reviews of this home we didn't hesitate to admit my mother when she was discharged from the hospital. She needed nursing care due to a terminal illness. Her room was beautifully decorated and furnished and we hoped she would be happy there. Sadly she was in isolation for a large part
of her stay which was short as she died two months later. The caring, catering, cleaning and general ancillary staff were wonderful and couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. However, the Management staff were not and our visits were restricted because they felt our mother was " getting better ". She died less than a week later! After her death, it was as though she had never been a resident. We received a sympathy card and not even a formal notification that her account was closed! Our Solicitor recently contacted them as her estate has gone to Probate and even this was not promptly answered! As a family, we feel it's too "corporate" and not caring enough.
Reply from Carla Kell, Home Manager at Falkland Grange Care HomeThank you for sharing your views at this obviously difficult time. Firstly, I would like to extend my thanks on behalf of my team, for the kind gifts you sent to us for caring for your mum - these were greatly appreciated. Being guided by UK government and Public Health England guidance around Covid-19 and what we prefer to call 'in-room services' is, as I am sure you appreciate, very difficult and we must ensure that we keep each of our residents safe where isolation periods are required following visits to high-risk places, such as hospitals. Final account statements are available upon request, as at times of grief they may not always be appropriate. However, I am pleased that you received our sympathy card and will request a closing statement for you. Best wishes to you and your family, Carla.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.801)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.801) out of 10 for Falkland Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.801 for Falkland Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (220 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 272 Ratings = 4.801
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Falkland Grange Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
