Outstanding. The home is clean and beautiful and every staff member had a smile and greeted us kindly. We are delighted to always see happy residents when we visit and it's a pleasure to visit there.

My experience with Falkland Grange Care Home was always very positive. They correctly assessed my partner's changing needs over time and gave her what I can only describe as loving care 24/7. When I visited my partner, all levels of management and staff were always friendly and willing to help, provide information, deal with any issues and discuss any matters. They also guided me as to what I should do to provide for my partner.
The home provides an extensive programme of internal and external interesting events and activities for patients and their relatives to take part in and enjoy, e.g. music. Bereaved relatives are also invited to discussion sessions where they can meet a variety of speakers on different topics.
The home is basically clean and well-maintained. There is a garden for residents and relatives to use for getting out into the open air.

There is a doctor's surgery and pharmacy next door to the home's site.

I visited my friend today. She seemed very happy and really liked all the staff. The staff were really helpful to me and my son who came too and they loved my son's dog and encouraged her to meet the other residents. I feel the home had a very nice atmosphere.

Very welcoming, friendly and accommodating.

Nice to enjoy a cup of tea together. Pretty gardens and we appreciated the card game.

Thank you for your review. Card games are seemingly very popular at Falkland Grange so please feel free to pop in any time for a rematch, and of course a cup of tea and slice of something delicious from our kitchen.

It was a lovely visit, we had coffee and shortbread in the bistro, lovely to see so many people - felt that my friend "belonged there"!
Very reassuring, when it was lunchtime (went too fast) he was approached politely and we said our goodbyes (for now).

I look forward to visiting again very soon. Well done team, keep it up!

The initial help in making the decision to try respite care for my husband was done with great professionalism and kindness. I am still exploring ways of making things easier, but all along the way, the staff have been more than helpful. They manage the residents on the dementia floor with huge patience and invent, so many ways of entertaining and helping them. We still have to make the decision whether to graduate to full residency, but I am sure that I can rely on the same degree of help in working this out.

My mother is a reluctant resident, having lived and cared for herself for the last 30 years, so transition has been hard for her. The residence itself is clean and tidy as one would expect from a relatively new establishment. She finds the staff kind, considerate and helpful but sometimes distracted by other matters. The facilities are good the room tidy and warm. However the one major disappointment seems to be that the food is simply not of an acceptable standard and has got worse since she first went there. Unfortunately this is an important item and really needs to be looked at as it is the one thing the residents have to look forward to. Being able to visit at anytime is very helpful and the activities mean that my mother has a more social life than she did at home.

My mother has been a resident at Falkland Grange Care Home since its opening. It's a lovely environment with high quality furnishings, nice social areas and a wonderful garden. Mum settled well, quickly building a positive rapport with the care staff, nurses and management. Her treatment throughout has been excellent and the team are quick to manage and report to us any issues or changes. During Covid and throughout the pandemic, she was protected and well looked after. They run numerous activities including 'knit and natter', flower arranging, quizzes and films in the cinema. Plus, they had a fantastic visit by a falconry team and a Shetland pony recently.

Mum has many friends there who she can meet in the bistro, lounges, or for a nice meal in the dining room. We were concerned how she would integrate into a care home environment, viewing many prior to choosing Falkland Grange. Looking back on the past three years, we made an excellent choice and are pleased Mum now refers to the Grange as home.

Mum has been at Falkland Grange Care Home for over 3 years now, having moved in just after it opened. She is generally well but has mobility issues that mean she needs a lot of help with personal care and getting about. The staff are wonderful with her, always smiling and chatty and doing whatever they can to help her. I know she treats some of them as friends. It is noticeable that many of the same staff have been there the whole time she has, which is great for someone becoming a little forgetful and confused. The Facilities and grounds are lovely and the home is always warm, welcoming and smells nice. Mum generally loves the food.

Overall Experience

My Aunt was at Falkland Grange home from April 2022 until November 2022. Initially, we liked the home, with its beautiful rooms and decor and facilities, staff were Initially welcoming and seemed to care, but this clearly wasn't the case. Lots of small issues that soon built up meant we moved my Aunt. Items continually went missing and could not be found, her room was never cleaned, we changed her bedding ourselves weekly, we did her personal care, remotes had no batteries (how confusing for a dementia patient). Activity rooms were always locked and empty, weekly updates never happened, the care plan was generic and not person-centred. On one occasion a carer was heard laughing to her colleague, "told you they would come and wash her!"; How awful to hear! My aunt spent most of her time alone in her room, we offered to attend activities and encourage my aunt to join in, but this was refused. A cold uncaring environment. Very upsetting experience.

I experienced the staff on the dementia floor as friendly approachable kind to people living there - making a genuine effort to connect with my client's wife. Very swift and skilled at dealing with an emergency situation and keeping people safe. A safe place when the great world has begun to feel unsafe for people with dementia. Below those left blank, I'm not able to answer because not my field or direct experience.

My sister and I have found all the staff friendly and helpful. The building, foyer and upstairs sections are really creatively designed to give Mom a sense of a welcoming, safe and more homely environment. The level of care and attention to residents' needs, day-to-day, appear beyond satisfactory, and I appreciate how difficult it can be on a daily basis.

Perhaps a consideration for the care team is to reallocate clothing back to residents on a weekly basis. There were a few times when Mum's clothing items (often new) were missing. It's difficult to buy nice things for her if they go missing.

I visit as often as I can to see my friend who lives there, once a month when I can. Such a delightful home.
They make me feel welcome when I visit, we have a pot of tea, cake which we love. They don't charge me either.
We sit in the quiet room upstairs as my friend has dementia and likes to stay upstairs with the staff.
Care staff are very caring and professional and cleaners friendly.
My friend enjoys living there, she loves having her hair done by the hairdresser. She loves to sing with everyone too.

I wish I could visit more but I struggle with the bus. Thank you for all you do for everyone.

So happy to have found this home for Mum. The management team are very professional, down to earth and very caring and address all individual needs. The whole feel of the place is so homely and tastefully refurbished throughout. Lots of different lounges and coffee areas for visitors. The staff are all hand-picked and the turnover is low so makes a difference to the residents. Mum settled in well and is constantly involved with activities. Would highly recommend.

Recently been to Falkland Grange to see my relative, what a lovely care home, looks like a nice new home with a homely touch. The staff are very friendly and everyone seemed very happy. The home is lovely, it looks better in person as well, bright and fresh. Nice and easy off the A34. Lots of parking but was unsure if we had to pay to park. The care staff are friendly and happy to help when we arrived. Wasn't able to go to the garden as it was raining when we arrived. Hot drinks were offered and the cake was amazing.

Leaving your own home and moving to a care home is a huge, emotional transition. The staff at Falkland have been super helpful, caring and welcoming, making this transition as smooth as possible for my mother-in-law and her family. My mother-in-law has now been at Falkland Grange for seven weeks and is full of praise for the staff. She enjoys the many and varied activities on offer. We also feel very welcome whenever we visit. It is a huge relief to know that my mother-in-law is being well cared for.
