We love the opportunity to eat with our mum in the 'family dining room'. The food here is of an exceptional standard and the chef is always cheerful and accomodating. Also the Valentines afternoon tea was wonderful better than the afternoon tea at a London landmark! Scones and cakes were delicious and
the entertainment was fabulous!

I have been to the Valentine's day afternoon tea time with my lovely friend (she is a resident) and I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for the lovely afternoon tea. Everything was beautifully arranged, and it was such a warm and welcoming experience. The delicious treats, the tea, and most
of all the wonderful company made it truly special. Special thanks to Kelly, Katie, Kate, the excellent chef and kitchen staff and everyone who was involved. Thank you very much!
It was a joy to spend the afternoon together, and it really brightened our day. Thank you for creating such a comfortable and cheerful atmosphere for everyone.

We were so impressed with the quality and presentation of the "Afternoon at a high end hotel" Valentines day tea.
We felt very lucky to be invited to enjoy this wonderful event, with my Mum, as guests.
The Entertainment Team worked very hard to organise and serve the guests and we were very impressed
with the Guest Vocalist.
An uplifting and joyous event.

Kelly and Katie organised a fantastic Valentines afternoon tea for us all to enjoy with my mother, wife, brother and sister in law.
Darren, Kelly's husband, kindly stepped in to sing when the entertainer let them down.
Absolutely fabulous food from the kitchen.
All in all, a wonderful afternoon.
Can't thank everyone enough.

This is a thank-you to everyone who organised and took part in the Valentine Day's celebrations last Sunday. I was unable to attend myself but I had a remarkably favourable report from a close family friend who visited Tonbridge House and attended the afternoon's events with my wife. You offered an
excellent spread of food and it seemed that everyone enjoyed it hugely. Many thanks.

Tonbridge House have been brilliant since my dad moved in after having had 2 strokes. As a result he needs some nursing care & a team who are very patient when he gets anxious and panicked, & the team are phenomenal at helping him when he is feeling out of sorts. He is encouraged to do lots
of activities, has so many opportunities for day trips out and even helps with some activities (like French lessons!). My dad isn't an 'old' man & at first I was concerned that being in 'a home' would be difficult, but it has been the best decision - more mental stimulus and GP & nurse interaction than ever before. He always looks neat & tidy and his room is beautifully clean every day. On his birthday, the chef did an incredible afternoon tea for him & some of our family in the private dining room. It really meant a lot to us. Despite dad sometimes not understanding about why he needs to be looked after, he is happy and starting to settle very well. The staff are brilliant, very thankful for them.

I have been very impressed with the care my dad has received throughout due to the injuries he sustained in the accident meaning broken neck fracture of the spine and head injury and profound deafness. Several hospital visits. They have dealt with everything with care and understanding and supported
me too. If I request something for dad, they promptly deal with it, so thank you.

Mum has dementia and is not able to safely walk, she is very frail 97 year old! I made a special request to entertainment staff (Kelly) for mum and I have to a minibus trip out to Kent - not currently visited. All arrangements were made, liaison between care staff, minibus helper and importantly Kelly
was excellent. Mum and I successfully went on this trip, mum was thrilled at being out of the home and we had a lovely trip, although it did rain. I cant thank Kelly enough or her work and effort in achieving this, very well done!

Mum has been resident at Tonbridge House for the past 18 months, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the quality of care she has received. She first arrived very unwell after a hospital stay, having lost a significant amount of weight - she has been nursed back to stable health. The staff have
shown compassion, professionalism and genuine dedication to her well-being. Throughout this time mum has regained strength and is thriving in a supportive, safe environment. The team here not only provide excellent medical and personal care, but they also create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like family.

Tonbridge House has been so wonderful for our 87 year old mother who for the first time in her life required respite care as none of her children was able to care for her during half term week.
Mum was understandably reluctant to go but the welcome and attention she received from the staff was delightful.
I too felt reassured.
Daily updates regarding mum''s stay were carried out as promised and my fears for adapting were allayed.
The staff were wonderful and I cannot thank them all enough for making mum feel 'at home'. The week slipped by so quickly not only for mum but for us children too. Very reassuring!

And to hear mum had been involved with crosswords/singing/Dominoes was just wonderful to hear.
Thank you Tonbridge House!!

We visit my mother-in-law every week and we are always greeted with smiles from the staff. Everyone is so kind and helpful. The activities staff are amazing and so inventive with their themes for the parties. They are always so pleased to see family members. The food the kitchen provides for these occasions
is outstanding! We always make sure we have plenty of spaces for the cakes. We couldn't wish for a better place for Mother-in-law to live her last years.

My mother arrived at Tonbridge House in November 2024. Right from the start she was made to feel comfortable and welcome. She has found all members of staff to be kind and helpful, and all queries from myself and my wife on various matters have been answered promptly and efficiently.
Her en suite room
is light and pleasant and is always kept spotlessly clean, as are all the attractive common areas of the care home and the gardens.
At mealtimes, there is a choice of dishes with the option of a lighter or snack meal if this is preferred. All have been enjoyed.
My thanks to all concerned for facilitating my mother's transition to living in residential care.

Where to start after so many brilliant reviews echoing what my 92 year old mother, my family and I have experienced here. Mum has needed our care for the past 10 years at home with the last two years being really tough. She's been chair-bound since 2022, needing hoists and is now in the grips of dementia.
She sat in her chair all day unable even to watch tv anymore and cried. I was burnt out. Walking into Tonbridge House Care Home without an appointment, I was immediately welcomed, listened to, briefed on what care would involve and then shown round this fresh modern happy place. I looked at 5 other homes but Tonbridge House stood out from the start. Mum received the same welcome when she moved in with the cheery compassionate staff responding to her anxieties and unique personality. The quality of care, meals and activities have transformed Mum. We are always welcome during our frequent visits and the staff care as much about us as my mother. Nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Staff at Tonbridge House are skilled, knowledgeable, and also very caring, kind, and compassionate. It is very touching and humbling to see. Those on the first floor, with residents with dementia, have a good understanding of the challenges this condition brings and make every effort to support people
to be as independent as possible and to listen and respond to them in a friendly and appropriate way. My mother arrived there from the hospital, quite weak and unable to walk, but with gentle support from the staff, she was able to get back on her feet and regain some of her independence. The catering staff also do a great job, preparing lovely meals and treats. Residents and their families can also go to the nice cafe on the ground floor or out into the pretty garden. Many engaging and fun events are arranged by the Events team, which bring a lot of joy and entertainment. Praise is also due to the friendly reception staff and those keeping residents' rooms and clothes so nice.

The minute we walked through the doors at Tonbridge house we were made very welcoming a lovely calm atmosphere.
During my husband's stay on floor one the whole team showed empathy, patience and smiling.
The rooms are lovely not too complicated for my husband who has Alzheimer's.
The activities are
very good at stimulating the brain.
I would certainly recommend anyone putting their loved ones here to give it a try I will certainly return for more respite for my husband and I know he will be warm safe and happy also less worry for me.

Dad was bereaved in May and by July it was clear he was becoming quite isolated in his supported living apartment. We looked at many care homes in the Tonbridge area and narrowed it down to two. Dad immediately chose Tonbridge House - liking the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. We were
told it would take him 2 - 3 weeks before he started to feel at all at home. In the event within days he was saying how much happier he is. The manager of Tonbridge House went out of his way to connect with Dad and resolve a few initial frustrations. Dad has loved the activity programme - especially a recent boat trip which he so enjoyed he took up a spare place for a second trip the following day. He really likes the food (though he claims there is too much of it!). And he is already forming a strong bond with the staff and other residents. We could not have hoped for a more encouraging start to this latest chapter of his life. Thank you to the entire Tonbridge House team!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.875)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.875) out of 10 for Tonbridge House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.875 for Tonbridge House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (276 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 311 Ratings = 4.875
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tonbridge House Care Home is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
