View Full Details of Brunel HouseAs a frequent visitor to Brunel House I have always found it welcoming and friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are very warm and helpful and seem happy to be working there, and are always happy to help.
This is a fantastic care home. Management listen and understand the needs of the occupant. All staff are a pleasure to engage with and more than competent in what they do. Also has added bonus of seperate nursing floor as well as residential
My sister and I, we are very happy with the staff, we think she's well looked after, we can get a cup of tea when we want one; there is a lot of activities she could partisipate in if she wanted to.
The staff here are brilliant! My friend was admitted as an emergency on a weekend and was welcomed with open arms and looked after really well. Can't fault the staff. Admin, nurses, catering and cleaning staff all went out of their way to make his stay as comfortable as possible.
My mother has now been a resident at Brunel House for eighteen months and from being very frail and ill when she moved in, she has had a new lease of life and feels happy and secure here, surrounded by the warmth, care and attention of all the exceptional, wonderful staff. It has been a huge relief to us, her family, to see how well she is looked after; with respect, patience, understanding and kindness and we feel we could not have chosen a better home for her. She often joins in the daily activities that are provided at Brunel House and is able to voice her opinion and contribute to ideas such as menus, trips out etc. at the frequent residents' meetings that are held. The staff here try very hard to enhance the outdoor space for the residents with a gardening club, flower planting etc. and if I have any niggles it would be that I think they should be more supported from the home's headquarters with a proper gardener on site for regular maintenance. Otherwise, wonderful!
The care and attention given to my mother in law has been excellent. Despite being bed bound the staff have shown her immense care and attention and talk to her to make her feel special. They treat her with dignity and respect. They make the time to talk to her. The food is excellent and my mother in law always looks forward to a cake in the afternoon.
The staff are always's helpful + personable always putting visitors at ease. Good to hear from my mother when she say's that she is comfortable, safe and well cared for.
The more for my mother into Brunel House was very smooth with a big emphasis on ensuring my mothers new room felt like home. My mother has settled in well and we are grateful for the support and care she receives The staff are always friendly, compassionate and dedicated. The communication between the home and ourselves is excellent. The activities programme is outstanding and well organised ensuring a positive impact on my mothers well being.
From the moment I looked around Brunel House I knew it was the right care home for my Dad from the warmth & kindness from all of the staff. They were also really supportive and helpful with managing Dad's move and have all made him feel so welcome. He has settled in well and is always telling me how kind everyone is. As a family we really appreciate how well Dad's individual needs have been met and the continuous programme of activities and support available to support him with his dementia.
The staff, without exception, were all very caring, over and beyond their duties.
Now our dad has been moved floors, he's so much happier, he has the garden to look at through the window, staff on that floor seem to have more time for Dad, he's eating well and sleeping better. Can't thank Brunel House staff enough for what they are doing, lovely care home.
Overall, all level of staff members are very caring, professional, attentive and strive to go above and beyond where possible. Mom has learned to know the various people around the routines etc. and is very content. Maintenance could be improved of the building, especially the exterior and garden.
My mother has had to go into residential care and we could not have chosen a better place for her. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms are comfortable and clean, Mum says the food is delicious, and nothing is too much trouble. Mum has settled really well, is joining in with the activities (despite not being a very sociable person!) and has made new friends. As a family, we have felt very well supported and all the staff have been so kind and helpful. We cannot rate the team and facilities at Brunel House highly enough.
My mum was a resident for just over 6 months. Her dementia had got to the stage where it was no longer safe for her to live in her own home. She was admitted to Brunel straight from hospital. She had a lovely room on the 1 st floor, and it was always clean and tidy. My mum could be a challenge at times but she seemed very settled here, and I knew that she was safe and secure 24 hours a day. The care ,support and encouragement from the staff was excellent. All the staff I encountered were always friendly and informative, and were on hand when I needed an update on mums continuing health or concerns.
Completely love what Brunel is all about - the staff care level is perfect! Like everyone in the industry, there are occasional staffing level issues, but all the staff are faultless. They have all contributed to a superb quality of life for my crazy aunt; the staff have to put up with her! We all have absolute faith in Brunel's ability to deliver on promises, and they have consistently done so over the last 18 months - she looks ten years younger! We would never consider moving her; she is very happy and settled and continues to get up mischief. A massive thank you to Brunel for everything! Well done guys; thank you so much.
We have been very pleased with the care support my father-in-law and our family have received in Brunel House Care Home. The member of staff in reception is outstanding always welcoming, considerate and helpful. The care staff are very friendly and caring to my father-in-law and welcoming to all members of our family.
My grandmother has been living at Brunel House for a year and I have recommended the home to others. I disagree with a previous review saying the home is unsafe for the following reasons. I visit daily, for periods of up to 6 hours. As my grandmother is 100 she sleeps a lot so I spend some time in the common parts and I can honestly say I have never seen safety as a issue. The entrance door is sometimes left open, weather permitting, as the ground floor is a residential floor and those residents need, want and deserve the right to wander in and out to sit on the chairs and get fresh air. Reception is manned by two charming ladies and when they are not on duty I have found the door closed. The lower and upper floors are secure units with key codes to open doors and operate the lift. Over the past 15 years I have spent most of my time in 5 different care homes as one family member after another has succumbed to dementia and I have to say Brunel is the best, by far.
Safety an issue as the main door is left open. Reception into the main body of the home is left open, this is a risk as unauthorised people can enter the home. Reception is not manned at all times. Also, there is potential for residents to leave the home and staff would not know where they are.
Mum stayed in respite for a month and has stayed before, both times have been a very positive experience. The carers are so kind and she will certainly return. Thank you to all the Brunel House Care Home staff.
Throughout my brother's stay at Brunel House, I have found his care to be faultless. He was always clean and his room was tidy. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and there was never a care home whiff that I recall in other establishments! I always recall his first phone conversation after he moved in... "I have lots of friends here, we have a really good time". It would be difficult to overstate my relief and gratitude when I heard this. He stayed with you for three and a half years... Thank you so much!
