View Full Details of Golden Horizon Care HomeSince under new management I believe the atmosphere has improved greatly. Staff seem more content and interacting with the residents a lot more. The new decor has improved the surroundings and the staff have new uniform which looks very smart. The social media has played a big part. It allows us to see day to day how our loved ones are looked after.
I think the team do a magnificent job in looking after the occupants of the home. Gran seems to feel at home and safe amongst other stuff and residents. The home do an amazing job at keeping everyone entertained, happy and safe.
This is a place and a group of people who place humanity, care and dignity ahead of gadgets and technology which is absolutely the right priority in my opinion.
I am very satisfied with the treatment afforded my wife.
The home staff are friendly to myself & other members of family on visitations. My grandmother is well cared for & looked after, and is comfortable in her surroundings.
Mother has been unwell for approx 10ays, the care she has received is exceptional. All carers are friendly with a good caring attitude. They encouraged her to eat and drink, spending time with her whilst she is in bed. They try to encourage her to sit in the chair which is alot better for Mom. Wasn't satisfied with previous manager. Fees - quite high.
We have been very happy with the care received.
Staff are very welcoming and caring both for residents and visitors. Regularly checking on resident making sure they are comfortable, have medications, drinks and food. Inform relatives if they have any concerns regarding the resident or if there's anything they need.
I would like to say how happy mum seems to be lately especially since she has moved into her new room which she loves, more for her to see looking out of the windows plus more space and not having to walk up the slope to her old room on which she has had some nasty falls. All the staff and extremely helpful and kind and go out of their way to please which is lovely.
The staff at Golden Horizon are its greatest asset, they go above and beyond to give my mother the best experience, always a smiling face and a kind word. Any issues are swiftly dealt with and the care provided is excellent
My Mother has late stage dementia and has been at Golden Horizon (Hernes Nest) since the end of January '25. My siblings & I are really happy with our decision to send her here, and although we have found it a difficult time, we can now see that the care we were providing just wasn't enough. After the settling in period, she now appears to be very happy and contented. She eats well, dances often and I think her life has been very much enriched by the love and company that surrounds her. The staff are very loving and tactile. They are attentive to all, even visitors, and the overall feeling is of a happy home. I totally admire their dedication and patience. There are daily activities which are enjoyed by all, and most residents especially enjoy the music & a good sing song. For anyone seeking a care home for their loved one, I would whole heartedly recommend this one.
My husband went to Herne's Nest for respite care. I tried so hard to keep him at home but then realised it was too much for me. I made the heartbreaking decision to admit him permanently and l was distraught. I soon realised that the care he was receiving was far more than l could ever give him. Each and every one of the carers were so dedicated, l could not fault anyone. They not only looked after him but loved him as well. Covid made things difficult but the staff kept me informed of what was happening. The managers were excellent and kept me going especially when l was at my lowest. Unfortunately, the Alzheimers won but he died happy, comfortable and loved. I could not have asked for more. Thank you Herne's Nest.
