My mother came to Dalemead as she was no longer able to live alone at home with dementia. Prior to her moving in, she trialled two weeks in another care home. What struck me at Dalemead was that in general the lounge, even though full of residents with varying levels of dementia, was much calmer
than the previous care home. Family run, the deputy manager seeks to update me every time I visit and there is a homely atmosphere and a sense of community. In the summer, my mother enjoys the garden. The staff turnover is extremely low and they do their best to accommodate every time I visit and would like her transferred to a wheelchair so I can spend time with her upstairs in her room, or downstairs in the orangery.

After many years of care in his own home, Dad moved into Dalemead to be closer to family. It didn't take him long to adjust, and he immediately appreciated having the constant care (rather than when he was home alone, bed-bound, between carers visits).
Dad's condition slightly improved after he
moved in, because of the care and attention of the staff.
He has now been in Dalemead for 2 years and we are so pleased he is there. Most of the staff are super friendly and kind (a couple do their jobs efficiently without chatting, and I think Dad appreciates a mix). He is very well cared for physically and medically with regular GP visits and excellent communication. He has never been a sociable person and prefers his own company, listening to the radio and music. The staff organise this for him. The owners and management know every resident and value everyone.
It was a hard decision to move Dad into a care home and we feel very lucky and pleased that this is going so well.

My mother has been a resident for 4 years now. During that time, unsurprisingly, her health has deteriorated but the staff at Dalemead have managed her care very well. Communication is good. The staff turn over is extremely low which means that both mum and we as a family know her carers well and
they know us well. The home has a nice, calm and friendly feel to it. We have no doubt that mum is safe and in good hands. They put on activities for residents which are great, especially singing with John and Sally. It is wonderful to see how music brings such joy. I like that fact that it is a family owned and run home and not a big chain. Visitors are always welcomed. It is a difficult decision to place a loved one in a care home but I would recommend Dalemead to anyone who needs to.

I have been very happy with the service provided by Dalemead care home for my mother who became unable to look after herself at home mainly due to old age. The staff have been very kind to her and good at passing on information about her when we visit. I feel she is being safely cared for. Although
she now has been diagnosed with dementia and does not really know where she is she often comments (unprompted) that it is a nice place and she likes being there. This is very reassuring.

When my husband's care needs became too complex for him to be cared at home, I visited a number of care homes locally. Visiting Dalemead I knew it was different from others. Family run, with a sense of community was immediately obvious. My husband has settled well, thanks to the excellent
dedicated staff. His progressive dementia has meant that his speech is poor, but his needs are well interpreted by the caring staff. He is enjoying the activity sessions, in particular the art class and chair based keep fit. Even after the short amount of time my husband has been at Dalemead, I am certain it was the right decision to choose this very special care home.

My mother has been a resident for almost two years. During this time I have been delighted with the care of the patients and management of the home. The staff are kind towards the patients and treat them with respect. I have a strong relationship with the management team who keep me abreast of any
issues with my mother be it minor bumps or mood issues or eating/drinking challenges. Whilst the home is not modern it feels homely. The team make great efforts to keep the residents entertained through regular activities. I'm so pleased we found Dalemead.

This review refers to our elderly gentleman cousin-in-law whose time in Dalemead was short but his last few days were well cared for by wonderful staff.
We chose Dalemead for this gentleman as a result of the wonderful care given to our other elderly cousin during the most difficult covid times of
2020-21 when nothing was too much for the management and team to whom we owe so much gratitude.
Privately run, it provides a safe and caring space for those who have lost the ability to live independently.
We are lucky to have such wonderful people looking after our elderly when it gets too much for us.

Excellent care from staff who really do a great job with nice surroundings. They even took my mum to church for many years on Sundays with taxis I booked for her. Care that goes above and beyond. My mum was resident from September 2017 - January 2024 and always I found the care and staff to be of
the highest quality. I could regularly video call her through the activities organiser. They had a guitarist who played classic songs on request on a Friday in the lovely light Orangery room. Really cheerful surroundings. I was always offered a drink by the staff when I arrived. Could get hand cream to massage my mum's hands given to me for instance.
The best decision I ever made on behalf of my mum was to choose Dalemead. She was a resident on Orchid ward. You will be glad you chose Dalemead. It's a totally wonderful care home.
