View Full Details of Sonning Gardens Care Home - Avery CollectionA wonderful place with wonderful caring staff. Food is lovely and tasty. Rooms clean and well equipped. Only slight issue is that understandably staff cannot come instantly (mum used to 1-2-1 care) so found it a little difficult. Overall I can see myself here when I need help.
We first visited Sonning Gardens Care Home when my mother had been admitted to hospital after a fall at home. Her dementia was progressing and, as a family, we knew she could no longer live safely at home. We initially arranged a respite stay, but after a week knew this was a perfect setting for her. She celebrated her 90th birthday whilst in Sonning Gardens and enjoyed seven months of being fully cared for. We found the staff to be welcoming, attentive and my mother always spoke of their kindness. She has a beautiful room, but spent most time in the comfortable lounge area. My mother had been a keen cook and, on our visits, we enjoyed discussing the delicious menu of the day. We are grateful to all the staff for their care and sensitivity. Sonning Gardens gave my mother, at the end of her life, the care she deserved and gave us, as a family, peace of mind.
My Mum recently stayed at Sonning Gardens Care Home for respite care. During my Mums stay we were highly impressed by the professionalism, kindness, thoughtfulness and attention to detail displayed by all the nursing/caring/activity/administration staff at all times. The Home is beautifully presented and set in lovely surroundings with a wonderful garden. My Mum & the whole family cannot thank Sonning Gardens enough for all the help and support provided by all the team whilst in residence.
My Mum thoroughly enjoyed her stay at Sonning Gardens-so l just had to write this review. This was her first time being away from home and you have given her the confidence in knowing that home from home environments such as yours are nothing to fear. She really enjoyed participating in the wonderful activity program- not Something she would normally participate in -such a shame you do not offer this on a book-in drop-in basis for respite returners. She thoroughly enjoyed the varied and comprehensive menu, nothing was too much trouble she was even provided with a pack lunch on chemo appointments at the hospital. we have nothing but good things to say about everyone + everything + would not hesitate to recommend.
Outstanding.
There is always a pleasant ambience when entering this home. The bistro is well paced, as is the restaurant. My stepmother's room was large and airy and there was ample room in the private bathroom for her needs. On a less positive side, I did have to ask for the bathroom to be deep-cleaned on one occasion as it was clearly a health hazard. The food was not up to scratch for such an expensive care home; this is not acceptable and should be addressed more seriously.
I spent a month at Sonning Gardens for respite care following a very bad relapse with MS. I was extremely tired and a little bit broken and Sonning Gardens rebuilt me. I was the youngest resident by at least 20 years but the level of care I received was amazing. Every carer was kind, considerate and made me feel special. The manager of the home was great fun and kept an eye on me and would come for a chat. The food was excellent and I could always ask for bigger portions. If I had a relative that needed care I would feel 100% confident that this is where I'd want them to be. Do go and look around it, its a wonderful place.
Sonning Gardens is spectacular. If you are looking for a place that's comfortable, safe, caring, respectful, pleasant, loving and somewhere that is not only beautiful to live in and visit, then Sonning Gardens is the high standard. The team who work there are phenomenal, they make it their duty to care for the residents and their families. I valued their kindness and compassion, and friendship. If there is a better care home, I didn't find it. The staff will always have a special place in my heart.
My "surrogate" mum went to Sonning Gardens in palliative care in the last four months of her life. We cannot thank everyone enough for the level of superb care and attention she got. All her needs were seen to, she had the best few months of her life she could. Nothing was too much bother in the staff. Thank you.
Mum moved into Sonning Gardens fairly recently. She has been cared for very well, even though she has sometimes been difficult and the staff have been very reassuring to us as family. Her medical needs have been addressed professionally and efficiently. We are very happy with her living here.
I am very happy with my room, and the carers are very helpful when I ask for help. The care of my room is very well looked after and any help I need e.g. towels etc. is well catered for. I enjoy the peace and quiet of my room with lovely views of the garden etc.
A very enjoyable care home. Everyone is so very nice and I am enjoying every day.
The staff here have always been attentive and care for your needs. The establishment us warm and welcoming. I am very at home here. The room is fine. Warm regards.
My room is quiet and have lovely view out onto the garden. The staff are helpful and friendly and are always there is I need help.
Mum was very poorly when she moved in last June. She was not eating properly and was becoming very isolated. She is now so much better, she is eating well and joining in with many activities provided, which she enjoys. She says the staff are all so kind and caring and she is lucky to be there. I have noticed several staff have left/retired recently. I hope they will be replaced.
I live at Sonning Gardens Care Home. I find the home and the staff very caring, food very good plus cleanliness plus I feel safe and secure.
The staff were really helpful and accommodating when we needed to move my mum in for respite care. They made the transition very quick and straightforward. Mum was made to feel welcome and settled very quickly and the staff were brilliant with her. She has remained at Sonning Gardens after the respite period and is doing really well. She is well cared for, there are plenty of activities for her to get involved in and overall she is very happy there. The environment is well cared for and the gardens are lovely too.
I am really impressed with Sonning Gardens from top to bottom. What lovely people the staff are. Nothing is too much trouble and Mum and Dad are really well looked after. Clothes are beautifully laundered (unusual in most care homes!) and their double bed is changed weekly and always looks nice. The only slight negative I have is that my dad struggles with the food. He likes the soup, but finds the main course are either too soft (the fish with the sauce and mash) or a bit overcooked. Sometimes they are a bit cool after coming up on the lift.
Sonning Gardens is a wonderful care home, more like a hotel. The care and wonderful staff make my father's stay overall a great experience, although he would rather be at home, he realizes that he needs the care and attention that Sonning Gardens can give and we know he is in safe and caring hands.
Mum has been a resident for nearly two years now. She is looked after very well, and the home is a very welcoming place for all visitors. The staff are wonderful.
