View full details of Gairloch HouseMum has been at the home for 5 months now and has settled in a lot easier than expected. The food is varied and plentiful. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much to ask for. The TV or radio is always on and the residents are often heard singing to the music. They have an activities co-ordinator who organises board games, craft work and card games. The have events to keep the family involved. They have had a Halloween party and Christmas party and Dad will be having his Christmas dinner there too. They have also got a photoshoot for residents and family before Christmas. The home is clean and while it looks tired it adds to the character.
Mum was only here for a short while for respite care as I needed her to be nearer where I live to visit. She seemed very happy and even joined in playing bingo which she loved. All the residents were always up sitting in their chairs looking very clean and well dressed. The carers were all very kind to Mum. The food was good and the chef made sure the food was soft and edible for her as she had trouble eating. They had a halloween party while she was there which all relatives of the residents were welcome and food, drink and entertainment was provided which was very good. I would recommend this home, The care home manager Ibrahim was always very helpful and was always there if you had a question to be answered.
Very happy with the treatment your giving my sister. She is doing more at his care home, then the other care home she was in. She gets a bit upset some days. She is settled down in this care home. Her memory is her problem she has.
My experience of the home is mostly positive. The staff and management do a fantastic job. They are very welcoming and pleased to help. My mum is well cared for, from what I can see. Sometimes she has food-stained clothes on, or someone else's clothes on. Have started writing her name in her slippers, as once I saw them on someone else. That was before the management changed. Since then all ok. I have rated the room as satisfactory as it's a tiny room. My feelings towards the cost are very negative.
Very welcoming, clean and friendly atmosphere. Lots of staff available to talk to, manager on site who popped in to update me on my relative's progress. The decor inside a little tired, gardens outside tended too, lovely outdoor garden area for residents. Newly started family events are welcomed. New management are keen to engage and are slowly introducing new activities for residents to improve their wellbeing. Seen improvement in Dad since the new management, treated more like individuals. Very happy overall.
My father was a resident of Gairloch House for several years, and I visited it frequently. The care home was very well managed, with the welfare of the residents always in mind. The staff carried out all procedures to safeguard residents and deal with any emergencies promptly and efficiently. I was always impressed by the kindness, respect, patience and friendliness of the staff. They made every effort to celebrate birthdays and special occasions and welcome visitors. The care home is in a quiet location, with a pleasant garden which residents can enjoy in the summer. My father thoroughly enjoyed the meals the chefs prepared. My family was therefore very happy with the care given to my father at Gairloch House.
Gairloch House is always so lovely, clean and welcoming every time I visit, whether it be a planned visit or a ring on the day and turn-up. The care and patience all the staff give my nan (who has a lot of bad/challenging days) are amazing, but the deputy manager and senior team really go above and beyond, they have been so informative in keeping the family up to date, very efficient in chasing referrals and GP checks and most important really interactive and encouraging with Nan. It took me a long time to come to terms with Nan living in a care home and after a bad experience at a previous different care home, it made me feel terrible that we as a family couldn't look after her, but with the care Nan currently receives at Gairloch, I honestly wouldn't want my nan to be looked after by anyone else.
Externally the home looks like it could benefit from a bit of TLC but don't let this put you off, the staff have always been friendly and caring towards my dad and treat him and the other residents with respect. They are always welcoming when I go to visit and work hard in what is a difficult occupation. They have dealt with any medical issues in a timely and positive manner and have always kept me informed of any ongoing issues. Due to the design of the property, the rooms are all a bit different and some residents personalise their own bedrooms. This adds to the charm of the home and it gives it a homely feel unlike some more modern corporately owned care homes that I have visited. I have been extremely satisfied with the care my dad has received.
