View Full Details of Oaklands Care HomeMy sister has been at Oaklands since May 2024. I can honestly say what a wonderful, beautiful Oaklands place is. The staff are just amazing, always have time to chat.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Always made welcome. Can't fault the care provided for my sister.
I met with the new manager today who reached out to me to address my concerns. She was lovely and showed real authentic care & compassion. I appreciated her open & honest conversation and feel happy & confident that my concerns have been addressed, and she is doing everything within her power to recruit a new member of staff to support the Dementia residents with more activities.
Friendly caring staff, clean bright spacious surroundings, food plentiful, varied and very appetising. Day room and dining room very nice.
I have been visiting now since January and I am pleased to say after meeting the new manager I feel much more content. I find her very approachable, empathetic, understanding and warm. It automatically gives a sense of peace and comfort in that my father is in good care. The manager is efficient and I find that she listens and observes and follows through with any concerns. I have also seen a change in staff and how information sharing appears to be working better.
I come to visit my sister once a week. She seems very happy here. Most of the staff are very friendly. The food looks delicious, the cook works very hard. Not sure about activities, I've never seen any one doing anything with the residents, items go missing from room often.
My mum has been a resident of Oaklands Care Home for just over a year and I am delighted with all aspects of the care she is receiving. She is well cared for, clean and tidy (which has always been important to my Mum) and safe - all of which are important to me as her daughter. The staff are amazing, very kind, caring, open, honest and, in my eyes, absolute angels. As a family, the staff are very friendly, and accommodating and always welcome us to stay for lunch with my Mum, which my Dad often does. As my Mum's dementia has progressed, her needs have got greater but they continue to treat her with the dignity and respect she deserves. Management are approachable and always willing to discuss my Mum's care needs or any concerns that either of us may have. I am always kept up to date on my Mum's care, which I truly appreciate. Thank you to everyone at Oaklands for looking after my Mum.
During this month of November, we have had two events at the home to celebrate. A raffle to welcome our new manager. To honour Armistice Day. Both events were outstanding in the amount of effort put in by the activities team and kitchen staff. All of the staff and carers work extremely hard and as a team and it shows. Congratulations new management. I am sure we'll hope it continues.
All staff are genuinely kind, caring and helpful. Enough events to keep the residents engaged and something to look forward to I have asked for a couple of jobs for Mum to be done and have always received feedback. Managers are friendly and approachable. Made to feel welcome and at home even as a visitor. Offered tea, coffee and food when visiting.
Special appreciation to two members of staff in particular. 5* to them both for their care and treatment of my father and us. Frustrating getting only a day's notice regarding taking Dad to appointments, unable to arrange time off work at such short notice.
Mum became a resident at Oaklands on the 31st of January 2024 after much heart searching that at 102 and struggling to keep her safe and cared for in her own home we visited Oaklands and from that first visit knew this was the home for Mum. She was reluctant as we were at first but from the day she arrived Mum's life changed for the better. She was greeted by the most amazing group of caring staff from the Manager to everyone who works there nothing was too much trouble and Mum was cared for in every aspect of her needs as we her family were they recognised that families need help adjusting to a new family routine. Mum had a beautiful room which we were encouraged to make her own with her own possessions. Mum fell into the routine very quickly and was enjoying every aspect of the home she especially was enjoying her meals which always looked delicious. Mum sadly died in hospital in May but her 3 months in Oaklands were the best in a long time and for that, we will be forever grateful.
Mum has only been here for 12 days but all that we have experienced during that time has been very positive. We have no concerns at all. Very pleased!
My mother was a resident at Oaklands in Laindon for a number of years. Their care of her was amazing. She passed away on 25/12/23 in Basildon Hospital from pneumonia, but their support and care right up until her being in hospital was beyond and above their call of duty. Big thank you to all the staff that knew my mum.
My mother moved into Oaklands care home in December and has really enjoyed her experiences so far. The staff and management are amazing, so kind and compassionate and always seem to go above and beyond. The home and my mother’s room is immaculate. I was very hesitant about leaving my mum but she’s gone from a person that would rarely eat to someone who is looking forward to meal times. She also enjoys the company of the kind staff and the other residents. I regularly take her out and she spends time at my house but looks forward to going ‘home’ back to Oaklands which is lovely to see. She has gained weight and is the happiest she’s been in a long time. The meal times are a particular highlight for her but even in between meals, she is regularly given tea/coffee and homemade cakes. If I had to mention any negative, it’s that we haven’t been able to have a telephone in her room, but overall couldn’t be happier.
Mum's been at Oaklands Care Home for three weeks, and she has received wonderful care. She is cared for to a very high standard, from receiving her medicine, washing, and her environment. After the horror stories you sometimes hear about nursing homes, our experience is very positive, and we would happily recommend the facility to others.
Mum is very happy at Oaklands. She has been out on a couple of trips in the home's minibus, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The staff are very friendly and caring, and there is always a friendly, welcoming atmosphere when we visit.
My mother was in Oaklands for 6 weeks of respite care. The level of care from staff and management was excellent. Would highly recommend this care home. My mother was treated with care respect and kindness throughout her stay. Thanks to everyone at Oaklands.
Mum stayed here after a fall. They sorted out her dietary requirements. She has a mat so they can hear if she gets up (she keeps forgetting that she has broken her hip). The staff are always lovely and kind.
Amazing staff, always friendly and helpful to us as a family and always offered tea. Special mention to four members of staff in particular. Amazing staff, always time to chat. Plentiful food and very impressed with the care Dad has.
Always welcoming to me as a volunteer. Extremely helpful and kind to residents, never getting flustered or upset. Very caring people.
