Our mother, aged 89, was admitted to Read House following weeks in hospital.
As soon as she arrived through the door, the general manager and care manager rolled up their sleeves and attended to every aspect of our mother's physical and psychological needs in her new environment. Without exception,
all of the staff are conscientious, professional, caring and diligent, delivering care with smiles and good humour.

My great aunt recently celebrated her 100th birthday together with family and friends. There were 28 of us in total, so it was quite a large gathering. The staff at Read House helped us organise the event by sectioning off half of the dining area and decorating it beautifully for the occasion. They
provided delicious sandwiches - the food is excellent - and made sure everyone was very well looked after throughout the afternoon. We are all extremely grateful that we were able to use the facilities at Read House to celebrate such a special milestone with her.
In general, my great aunt receives very good round-the-clock care. Many of the staff take the time to sit and talk with her, sharing stories and conversations, which means a great deal to her. In recent years, she has understandably struggled at times with reduced mobility and the sadness of losing many close friends and family members. Human connection, kindness and companionship therefore really matter.

Daphne was made to feel welcome, valued and respected from the beginning which helped us feel more comfortable. The staff were always available to share our worries with and help if possible. Daphne was helped to live her last few years with safety and dignity. Thank you.

My uncle was in another home for nearly 2 years and spent most of his time in his bed. Was not supported to interact. Since moving to Read House, he has spent very little time in bed and enjoyed his meals in the dining hall with other residents. When I visit, he is interested in conversation and
seems brighter in himself. The staff are friendly and management approachable. Everyone there has helped him settle in and start to enjoy life again.

My father went into Read House during the last 5 months of his life. We were provided with an excellent pre-admission visit with all information we needed. Whilst there he was shown care and compassion staff got to know his likes and dislikes. Facilities were brilliant and particularly during his
last week we also felt cared for and that we were important and part of the Read House family.

We heard very good reviews already from a resident living there and very much wanted to find a place there for my husband who needed really good care/ nursing and we were successful. Lovely care manager who showed me all round - spotlessly clean - airy, overlooking the sea in Finton - a bonus. The
care was exceptional - always friendly/ chatty + professional carers who also looked after the relatives also. Plenty of daily activities for residents - lovely back garden for walking + seafront and the meals were good.
All in all a lovely care home with exceptional staff.

My Dad was ar Read House for around a year. The care he received was outstanding, the Home is welcoming, safe, loving and truly a home. It is run very efficiently and with humanity. The residents are definitely front and centre of the management's focus and they are very well provided for. I would
not hesitate to recommend this wonderful home.

My mother was a resident in Read House for nearly 4 years. During that time she was looked after superbly by the dedicated staff. I cannot fault the care she received which was a big relief to myself and the rest of the family.
The staff really go the extra mile to look after all of the residents
and nothing is too much trouble. As mums condition steadily deteriorated they were there for her to ensure she was as comfortable as possible.
They have a really well planned daily activity schedule which helps to stimulate the residents.
During the period the owners have spent a great deal of time and money redecorating the place as well and it is an immaculate care home.

My dad stayed in read house for two weeks respite in June, he stayed in the new area which was lovely and very well equipped, he said he was in a five star hotel, he said he enjoyed his stay and wouldn't hesitate to return, we couldn't fault anything about his stay, every one was extremely kind
and caring and the food was excellent, management made everything stress free for me as I was very apprehensive about having to leave him, I would like to say a massive thank you to you all, you do an amazing job!

After my dad passed away in November it became apparent my mum was struggling, as we all were as he was such a central part of her life in particular after 60 years of marriage. However, we realised there was more to this and mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I live in Switzerland and mum is
happy to visit but wanted to stay in Essex close to friends. We visited a number of residential homes with my mum and she liked Read House from the moment she walked in, as did I. All of the staff are incredibly caring and the Manager always has time to talk. Mum initially came in for respite last month but she told me that she knew she wasn't safe to live on her own and Read House would be somewhere she would be happy to stay. Mum has a lovely room overlooking the beautiful garden and whenever I call she always seems to be busy in various activities or getting her hair done. I just returned from visiting her and she was smiling as I left sitting with new friends.

Since my father moved into Read House, he has been so beautifully looked after. The understanding, compassion and care that they show to my father is outstanding. Dementia is a very cruel illness but every single member of staff that my father interacts with is so patient and always has the time for
him.
The residence is spotless clean at all times and the food provided is wonderful, always catering for my fathers' specific dietary needs. It is a scary thing to decide that your parent needs to be somewhere other than their own home, however Read House had made that transition so much easier for both my father and myself. Their support and guidance to me has also been invaluable.
I would love to name every member of staff as they are all truly wonderful, however there isn't the space. So I will just mention the manager whose one ambition in life is to ensure that Read House feels like a resident's home. She believes it is their sanctuary and it truly is.

My mother came to Read House after suffering a stroke until she passed away some 6 months later from a second stroke. From the first contact until the end, everyone was professional, kind, caring, and friendly. This was a weight off my mind! Mum went through a period of very challenging behaviour,
was dealt with in a professional and sensitive way. I would recommend the app that allows you to track your loved ones ' days, good or bad! From my experience, I highly recommend Read House.

I have recently had to place my mother, who has dementia, into a care environment. After much research and visiting homes, I selected Read House, Frinton- on-Sea. I have to say, from day one, I have been amazed by the dedication and care the staff have displayed supporting my mother (and me) to
smooth this hard transition. My biggest fear was my mother being left in a room being fed and safe but not happy. My mother is safe and 'well fed' and is really happy and, despite dementia, says how lovely the staff are. I don't think anyone but a close relative would understand the fears of the move to a care home, but I applaud Read House for everything they have done to make this easier.

Read House is in such a beautiful location overlooking the seafront in Frinton on Sea.
A friend of mine who is in her mid-90s needed respite care following an operation. She was very anxious and nervous about going into a care home setting but was very happy within a short time of arriving.
The
manager was lovely and went above and beyond to ensure my friend felt very welcome and all the staff were very reassuring, kind, and supportive.
My friend received excellent care and was very complimentary about the food, and facilities activities and overall very impressed with everything at Read House.

A beautiful home with really welcoming, friendly, and helpful management and staff. My Mother-in-law didn't want to be in respite care and determined she wasn't going to like it, but everyone was so positive and encouraging. Excellent food, with my MIL deliberately seated with other residents who
would be friendly and welcoming. Lots of activities and she was encouraged to take part when she felt comfortable.
