Michael and all the Cavell Lodge family really care about their residents. My mother went into the care home with a prognosis of 3-6 months but with the excellent care, kindness shown by all the staff and excellent choices of food, we had the bonus of 3 years with mum. She enjoyed the variety of
fun, daily activities especially the singing sessions. The staff are very caring, calm, friendly and professional even though residents can sometimes have challenging behaviour and comments. Cavell Lodge is spotlessly clean throughout, not just the bedrooms. The room mum had was spacious, bright and well equipped. The manager is very supportive and approachable and always available for any assistance that may be needed, as are all his management team. Mum was very happy at Cavell Lodge and always spoke highly about the care given by all the staff and said that living in the home was like living in a 5* hotel. We, her family, are extremely grateful to everyone who was involved in mum's care.

In January 2019, my mother became a resident of Cavell Lodge. She remained there until her death some seven years afterwards. During those years the standard of the home never changed. The care that my mother was given was exemplary from all levels. The place was always spotlessly clean. My mother
always commented on the wonderful food and the comfortable bed.
During those years my mother's dementia became more apparent and she also lost the use of her legs. On occasions, I am sure she was not an easy patient but the staff were always at hand, with a smile and understanding of what was required.
Michael the manager was always available to discuss my mother's wellbeing and I must mention Eliza, Chris and especially Lucy whose dedication to the patients was second to none. She arranged many activities throughout the year.
I have no hesitation in recommending this home to any potential residents or their families.

My godmother spent 2 years residing in Cavell Lodge. From the moment she went in until the day she passed, the level of care and kindness she was shown was second to none. I have nothing but praise for every member of staff. It is a beautiful Care Home, expertly run and managed and would not

I cannot fault Cavell Lodge for the care they provide to my father. Staff are happy, friendly and approachable. They really care about their residents. My father is proud to live here and tells people that it is like living in a 5 star hotel. The food is lovely, rooms are spacious. There is a lovely
atmosphere and the whole place is spotlessly clean. It is very well managed. Senior staff are visible and always have time to listen. Communication is great. I feel secure leaving my father in the care of the wonderful staff here. Absolutely second to none. Outstanding care home.

My aunt stayed with Cavell Lodge for a few months until she recently passed away. She came from hospice after no longer being able to care from herself alone at home but being too well with stage 4 terminal lung cancer to stay at the hospice any longer. I visited MANY homes and by far Cavell Lodge
was the nicest on first impressions in terms of overall accommodation, room cleanliness and smell, plus the residents I see seemed content. I have nothing negative to say about Cavell Lodge. The nursing team there, the management and all other staff were wonderful, kept me informed of everything from how she was feeling to falls and did everything in their power to make her safe. She had been in a home before hospice which in comparison was awful. If anyone is nervous and worried about placing a sick loved one in Cavell Lodge, whether it's a family member or friend, don't be. It was the best place my aunt could have been in her last days. Special thanks to 3 members of staff in particular.

My 97 year old mother has been in Cavell Lodge for 4 weeks. She has now settled in well after some initial hiccups. She has been able to fit in with the help and support of the management and staff help. She finds the facilities first class, food very good and staff able to help with her medication.
Overall, she seems very happy.

This is the best run nursing home in Southend.
The staff are so kind, caring and cheerful.
There is a positive ambience about the place.
Management are exceptional.

My 102 year old Mum has been in Cavell Lodge for nearly 3months and has settled in very well. She loves her bright comfortable room and is always telling me how kind and friendly all the staff are. The atmosphere from the minute you arrive is welcoming and happy and the facilities are spotlessly
clean. The manager is approachable and understanding; he expresses real concern for the safety and happiness of the residents and happily provides reassurance and assistance to relatives, as do his management team. I feel totally confident in the care given to my mother by all the staff and am grateful to everyone for looking after her so well.

My mother has only been in cavell Lodge under 2 weeks
But she has settled in well and seems content
There seems to be activities most days
She feels safe so we the family are happy all the staff and management treat her with kindness and dignity

My mother is receiving first class care. I have no concerns whatsoever with the care home, Cavell Lodge.
Mother is 101+ years old with advanced dementia & near total sight loss. She is treated with attentive care & great respect.

My mother moved into Cavell Lodge mid December and after 4 weeks she is feeling comfortable, safe and settled.
The staff are caring, polite, and delightful. They have been very helpful and accommodating.
Today, on arrival to visit my mother, I was invited to join the daily activity which was a
singalong session. It was a fun joyful activity lead by a lovely lady and the brilliant activity coordinator. It was wonderful and moving to see how some of the resident's demeanour changed completely within a short space of time and after half an hour were different people.

Our experience so far at Cavell Lodge has been great. The staff are very caring, friendly and professional. The atmosphere is calm, homely, fresh and bright. The food is excellent, my dad often stays for lunch with my mum which is lovely for both of them. As a family, we feel assured that mum is
getting very good care in a safe and loving environment. Daily activities, background music, fresh decor and happy staff make for the best alternative home for mum.

This home is extremely well run, in a professional manner. All staff are very obliging - nothing is too much trouble. Food is of a very good quality - good choices all around. Ample portions, well cooked and presented. Varied choices of activities throughout the week. Relaxing atmosphere in lounges.
Residents rooms are well equipped. Would recommend and represents value for money.

After a very difficult time, we were accepted to put Mum into Cavell Lodge. The manager put himself out and did an amazing job to help me! I cannot thank him enough, I have never met such a caring and thoughtful person! All of the staff at Cavell Lodge are so friendly, will do anything to help, are
second to none, always approachable. Sadly I lost my mum on 9th February 2024 and the staff were so supportive, they couldn't do enough for us.
The overall home has always been spotless, with lovely decor, never smelt at all just nice and fresh. All rooms are so clean and the home is like an extra family home.

There is just one word to describe Cavell Lodge, absolutely faultless and without a doubt, as a qualified nurse, the best of the best I have ever seen. With the luxurious surroundings and every attention to detail plus the incredible attention at all times of every single member of staff/management,
it is more like a luxury hotel 5*. I could not recommend it more highly, nor praise the care team more than 'exceptional'.

I have now been in Cavell Lodge for six months. During that time my condition has worsened and the staff have ensured that a care plan has been put in place. I cannot speak highly enough of the manager and team here. Nothing is too much trouble. They have ensured my room is equipped with suitable
furniture as needed and that I get all the ongoing assistance required.

Excellent care home. My mum is well looked after by the excellent staff. Any problems are dealt with swiftly and there is good communication. Mum is treated with respect and care and she feels safe.

I cannot praise the care my 98-year-old mother is receiving at Cavell Lodge highly enough. The staff are immensely caring and the home is extremely clean and maintained to a very high standard. In her twilight years, Mum is receiving the five-star care she deserves and which gives her family peace
of mind.

We would like to thank all at Cavell Lodge for making our mother's 100th birthday party so memorable. They went the extra mile. A wonderful time was had by all. The staff at Cavell are amazingly caring. Our mother's care is exemplary.
