Cavell Lodge is a prestigious purpose-built residential home providing the highest level of residential care for older people, in quality surroundings.

The home is located just a few miles from the 'Golden Mile' front at Southend, is easily accessible by local transport and is close to both shops and park lands.

The aims of Cavell Lodge are to maximise residents’ quality of life by enabling each resident to live according to his/her individual needs and wishes, and to ensure that each resident’s independence, privacy and personal dignity are maintained and respected.

Facilities at the home include two spacious lounges, one on the ground floor and on on the first floor, both tastefully decorated and furnished. A spacious dining room on the ground floor has patio doors leading to a conservatory overlooking the gardens.

The dining room is just the place to enjoy the excellent choice of home-cooked food. Special diets are catered for.

There is a choice of beautifully decorated bedrooms, with en-suite facilities. Each room has a nurse call system, with a television point. All residents are encouraged to bring their own pictures, ornaments or any other items that will make their room their home.

Cavell Lodge provides a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with flexible routines and activities should residents wish to participate. All activities within the home are chosen by the residents such as film nights, quizzes and exercise to music.

My aunt stayed with Cavell Lodge for a few months until she recently passed away. She came from hospice after no longer being able to care from herself alone at home but being too well with stage 4 terminal lung cancer to stay at the hospice any longer. I visited MANY homes and by far Cavell Lodge
was the nicest on first impressions in terms of overall accommodation, room cleanliness and smell, plus the residents I see seemed content. I have nothing negative to say about Cavell Lodge. The nursing team there, the management and all other staff were wonderful, kept me informed of everything from how she was feeling to falls and did everything in their power to make her safe. She had been in a home before hospice which in comparison was awful. If anyone is nervous and worried about placing a sick loved one in Cavell Lodge, whether it's a family member or friend, don't be. It was the best place my aunt could have been in her last days. Special thanks to 3 members of staff in particular.

My 97 year old mother has been in Cavell Lodge for 4 weeks. She has now settled in well after some initial hiccups. She has been able to fit in with the help and support of the management and staff help. She finds the facilities first class, food very good and staff able to help with her medication.

My 102 year old Mum has been in Cavell Lodge for nearly 3months and has settled in very well. She loves her bright comfortable room and is always telling me how kind and friendly all the staff are. The atmosphere from the minute you arrive is welcoming and happy and the facilities are spotlessly
clean. The manager is approachable and understanding; he expresses real concern for the safety and happiness of the residents and happily provides reassurance and assistance to relatives, as do his management team. I feel totally confident in the care given to my mother by all the staff and am grateful to everyone for looking after her so well.

My mother moved into Cavell Lodge mid December and after 4 weeks she is feeling comfortable, safe and settled.
The staff are caring, polite, and delightful. They have been very helpful and accommodating.
Today, on arrival to visit my mother, I was invited to join the daily activity which was a singalong
session. It was a fun joyful activity lead by a lovely lady and the brilliant activity coordinator. It was wonderful and moving to see how some of the resident's demeanour changed completely within a short space of time and after half an hour were different people.

Our experience so far at Cavell Lodge has been great. The staff are very caring, friendly and professional. The atmosphere is calm, homely, fresh and bright. The food is excellent, my dad often stays for lunch with my mum which is lovely for both of them. As a family, we feel assured that mum is getting
very good care in a safe and loving environment. Daily activities, background music, fresh decor and happy staff make for the best alternative home for mum.

This home is extremely well run, in a professional manner. All staff are very obliging - nothing is too much trouble. Food is of a very good quality - good choices all around. Ample portions, well cooked and presented. Varied choices of activities throughout the week. Relaxing atmosphere in lounges.

After a very difficult time, we were accepted to put Mum into Cavell Lodge. The manager put himself out and did an amazing job to help me! I cannot thank him enough, I have never met such a caring and thoughtful person! All of the staff at Cavell Lodge are so friendly, will do anything to help, are
second to none, always approachable. Sadly I lost my mum on 9th February 2024 and the staff were so supportive, they couldn't do enough for us.
The overall home has always been spotless, with lovely decor, never smelt at all just nice and fresh. All rooms are so clean and the home is like an extra family home.

There is just one word to describe Cavell Lodge, absolutely faultless and without a doubt, as a qualified nurse, the best of the best I have ever seen. With the luxurious surroundings and every attention to detail plus the incredible attention at all times of every single member of staff/management,
it is more like a luxury hotel 5*. I could not recommend it more highly, nor praise the care team more than 'exceptional'.

I have now been in Cavell Lodge for six months. During that time my condition has worsened and the staff have ensured that a care plan has been put in place. I cannot speak highly enough of the manager and team here. Nothing is too much trouble. They have ensured my room is equipped with suitable furniture
as needed and that I get all the ongoing assistance required.

I cannot praise the care my 98-year-old mother is receiving at Cavell Lodge highly enough. The staff are immensely caring and the home is extremely clean and maintained to a very high standard. My mum had been a resident for three years and the care has been fantastic, although she has recently passed away. We cannot thank the staff and management of all their support and assistance over the last three years. Mum's dementia was dealt with sympathetically and she was treated as much as a friend,
as a resident. The events that were laid on and activities all were to enrich the environment of the residents. Mum had a great time and although she sometimes became nervous, due to her dementia, she always commented how kind the staff were and she was happy to be there. She didn't always know where 'there' was, but the support always made sure she was never left worried. At the worst, we would be contacted straight away and the staff were friendly and responsive to Mum's needs. From the rooms, that were perfect for Mum's needs, to the cleanliness of the home and the suitability of garden facilities, it's just a really nice place. I am happy in the knowledge Mum enjoyed her time there. She passed away June 2023.

Cavell Lodge Care Home is well-run and immaculate. The standard of care is excellent given the recent challenges of Covid and staff retention for all the care sector. The high quality of the food offered is a feature of the home. The staff make a huge effort, especially at Christmas, Easter and dates
such as Valentine's Day to celebrate the seasons and events. There is an enthusiastic programme of events which residents can attend. The manager and senior staff are always professional, friendly and available to discuss any matters relating to the care and well-being of residents.

My nan turned 100 this August, and I am blown away with how everyone at Cavell Lodge made this event so special.
The build-up to this day has been immense for us all, made even more so with coronavirus. Given that up until recently, we didn’t think we’d even all be able to see her on her special day,
to be able to have a small, safe gathering blew us away. It was more than I could have dreamed of, and looking around at everyone’s faces I think the feeling is mutual with the whole family! Nan genuinely seemed to enjoy herself, and I’ve never seen her smile so much – she was definitely channelling her inner HRH when she was waving at everyone!
The dedication, care and love you and the team give to nan (as well as everyone else) is incredible and whilst nan losing her independence was something we hoped would never happen, she really couldn’t be in a better place to keep her safe and well. Without exception, everyone I’ve met at Cavell Lodge has been nothing short of fabulous.
