View Full Details of Oakdene Rest HomeI was very struck from our first visit to Oakdene by the warmth, friendliness and hospitality of all the staff without exception. All the residents we met were treated as if everyone of them were the most important - including my mother, who was treated with the utmost kindness, dignity and a very high level of nursing care. The 'open house' policy of Oakdene gave me a great deal of reassurance, knowing that each visit would be welcomed, even at the busiest of times. The hard work and dedication of all the staff made Oakdene a real home and an absolute pleasure to visit. Thanks to all of them!
My mother-in-law's care at Oakdene was, in short, exceptional. I cannot fault or give high enough praise for the staff at all levels. You might say that the home itself is not modern & shiny, but it is homely and any appearance falls into insignificance when put against the kindness and standards of care shown to her & to her relatives. At the end of her life the determination of the home to care for her at the home was brilliant and we can truly say that thanks to them, her end was calm & peaceful & what we all want - to die at home, for that is what it is. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My husband is being cared for and looked after really well. The staff are so friendly and helpful.
I can't praise Oakdene enough. The manager and the team are so kind and thoughtful to the residents. I am unable to visit my stepfather at the moment but I know he is happy and well cared for. I am kept well informed of his welfare and his medical conditions. I am so pleased we chose Oakdene for my stepfather. I can see from the regular social media posts photos that my stepfather is well. Which, as I can't visit at the moment, is very reassuring.
Dad has dementia, the manager and her team have welcomed him as their own family, the care they offer has been second to none. I didn't want to leave him, but 4 months on he's settled and happy. The staff are always happy smiling and thoughtful, they always keep me informed as to his well being.
My elderly mother has been a resident at The Oakdene for roughly 6 months now. General staff and senior staff have been extremely helpful for both Mum and the family. Mum appears to be settled in now and although dementia is an issue we are coping with, the staff fully understand and adapt to her needs. It wasn't a situation we wanted her to be in, but we are at least safe in the knowledge she is in good hands.
My husband recently went to live at Oakdene and I can't rate the care he receives high enough. Family can visit any time of the day and have always been greeted warmly and often with an update on how he is. The carers are so kind and have endless patience and do everything they can to make sure the residents are happy and settled. The manager is very supportive of family and always available to answer any questions we have. She clearly loves her job.
Oakdene Rest Home is a very happy place. A lovely relaxed friendly environment. The staff are so kind and helpful and go out of their way to make sure I know how my stepfather is getting on. My stepfather has been at Oakdene for almost 3 months and during that time I have seen his general well-being much improved and I think that is because he feels at home there and enjoys the company of his wonderful carers.
My brother has now been cared for at Oakdene Rest Home for over a year now and in that time he has been cared for exceptionally well. The staff have maintained a consistently high level of care in every aspect. The overall establishment is always clean and tidy and my brother's room is kept as he would wish it. It has not been an easy acceptance for my brother to accept being cared for 24/7 as he lived on his own, but with dementia his life changed considerably. Oakdene has provided a special home for him. I am glad that I chose it for him.
My father has been at Oakdene for several months now and has flourished with the care and support that Oakdene offers. We visit daily and are always welcomed and feel accepted as part of Dad’s daily life and he is very settled and happy.
Mum came here at the end of March following a care assessment by Social Services as she was no longer safe at home. The manager and her team have provided a welcoming and caring environment for Mum. Staff are attentive to Mum's needs and have done everything they can to ensure she is comfortable while she settles into her new home. Mum's room is clean and suitably furnished and we were able to bring some of her personal belongings from home, including her favourite family photos. Knowing that Mum is now in a place where she is safe, getting appropriate 24-hour care and close enough to family so we can visit regularly is a huge relief.
My father is a resident at the home, he seems to be settled and happy at the home. He is hard to communicate with, but the carer seems to have a way to tackle that problem. The carers work very hard to keep everybody happy and safe.
Our friend has been a resident at Oakdene for a year and 4 months now and we couldn’t be happier with the consistent level of excellent care that she receives. All the staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make the residents feel safe, loved and comfortable creating a happy and loving home atmosphere. We are so grateful to all the staff for everything that they all do for our friend and they give us great comfort knowing she is being well cared for. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone who is considering it.
All staff, from top to bottom are kind and caring. Cleanliness is excellent! Always a pleasure to visit.
I have been visiting my sister since November 2022. She is happy and well looked after. The home is warm and comfortable and I am happy that she is there. All her needs are catered for.
At first I was concerned regarding my aunt going onto a care home, however after 2.5 years, I feel happier. Oakdene is taking such good care of her and her fellow residents, they are kind and do an excellent job. The families are involved with social events, with wonderful food laid on. The staff do an amazing job and show kindness and compassion to all residents.
Yes, very good in all parts. I think this is an excellent home.
I am always struck by the friendliness and positive attitude of the staff. I visit twice a week. There is constant excellence in everything the staff do, from personal care, group activities and general awareness of the needs of the individuals. There is a general sense of calmness and a very high standard of excellence, and individuals have the freedom to move at their own pace around the building and are not restricted apart from obvious security.
My son works in a care home and I have been a visitor to three care homes but none of them come even close to Oakdene Rest Home where my wife is staying. When you visit Oakdene, you can see and feel the love, the dedication and see the joy in their faces when they are caring for someone and I have so much respect and admiration for every one of them, even the way the cleaners, the cooks, the handyman all get stuck in, it's a joy to see. It's a place I wouldn't mind ending up myself.
It’s early days, but we’re very happy with the care Nan has received to date. The staff genuinely seem to really care and build relationships with their residents, and despite being extremely busy, are helpful and friendly to family and friends when visiting. I love the updates on the FaceBook page, as do my parents especially, who live in Greece - so lovely to still feel connected and see photos of her day. Thank you.
