View Full Details of Hill Brow Residential Care HomeMy mother has been at Hillbrow for over 3 years, it's was originally emotionally so hard to move her from her home and I was so worried she would decline. However the opposite happened my mum gained weight and her health improved. I cannot thank the team enough, they are amazing, kind and loving mixed in with a lot of laughter.
I have been visiting my friend's Mum here for nearly two years and I have to say what a warm and friendly, more like family, environment the home is. She is usually having a laugh with one of the staff who are all polite, helpful and caring. There is a wide variety of activities to keep the residents stimulated, including outings each week. The food is excellent, again a varied choice each day. The family BBQ's and quiz nights are very popular. A lovely place for loved ones to be cared for and safe.
My mother used to be a resident at Hillbrow and I have been a regular volunteer there for the last 3 years. All the staff are caring and all the residents are treated with kindness and respect. There is always a lot of laughter and the residents all look relaxed, happy and cared for. It is a very happy residential home.
Friendly and helpful staff. There is nothing that is too much trouble for them. The staff members seem to have been employed at the home for long periods, therefore marvelous continuity. Lovely public rooms to sit in, and a marvelous conservatory.
My mother has been at Hill Brow for just over a year now and it has been heart warming to see the way staff treat my mum with such kindness, respect and dignity. Hill Brow is now like my extended family too, as I am always made to feel so at home whenever I visit, by both staff and residents! Both my adult children have recently commented that they feel that their grandma is in a great home that has lovely staff. We all know that she is safe and well cared for and enjoying all the fabulous activities that Hill Brow offer. She loves having a giggle with the staff and residents and it's a joy to see her looking so relaxed. It's very reassuring to know that the home is managed so well. You can always ask questions, arrange a meeting, discuss a concern, etc. and they are always ready to listen. Thank you, Hill Brow.
Hill Brow is a wonderful care home with kind and helpful staff who are always on hand to support and care for my mum. There is a wide range of activities and outings that mum enjoys and if she wants to sit quietly in the conservatory then that is fine too. As relatives, we feel welcomed and communication between the staff and us is excellent. I feel so reassured that mum is safe and happy in such a caring environment.
My mother in law has been exceptionally well looked after and the process of getting her settled in over the past few weeks has been fantastic. The staff could not have been more nurturing or caring in supporting her needs and making her feel at home. We are delighted with the care she has been receiving.
My Mum moved in a couple of months ago and has settled in fabulously. She has flourished here, her confidence has soared and she is back to her normal bubbly, chatty self after a tough time before moving. We can't praise the staff enough for welcoming her so kindly, involving her in all the activities, and making her feel part of their family straight away. Thank you to everyone at Hillbrow Residential home for being so amazing.
The home runs a comprehensive themed weekly activity schedule well suited to a variety of different abilities. The well thought out group activities get the residents moving/ thinking/ creating/ laughing/ dancing. It's been such a comfort to see the updates and see my Nan smiling and having great experiences.

Such a lovely care home, staff are very helpful and friendly and I know always look after the residents with the utmost care and respect and as a visitor I am always made welcome. Special thanks to the lovely senior carer too!
My dad joined Hill Brow in October 2024. When he arrived, he was very low and underweight. I cannot believe the change in him! He has got back to a healthy weight, he is happy and content. The staff are so lovely. They are all friendly, warm and caring. There is a real sense of community in the home and I always feel welcomed there. I love that my dad is treated with dignity and respect. Dad is really impressed with the choice of food and if he ever asks for anything, the staff make it happen! Thank you for making Dad smile again!
The resident is extremely well looked after in all aspects of her life. Activities are excellent as is the care and food. Communication is important and I am kept informed of her well-being, doctor visits, etc.
My mother has been a resident for over a year at Hill Brow Residential Care Home and the home continues to provide the same level of outstanding care for her as they did at the beginning The staff are always so polite and welcoming and the atmosphere created is reminiscent of a very large family home. There are many outings and activities to stimulate the residents including a dementia choir, arts and crafts, visits to local garden centers and visiting entertainers.
Three months after arriving, Mum endured a traumatic event when she broke her leg, requiring surgery within 24 hours. The ordeal was harrowing; a 3-hour ambulance wait and the hospital staff's poor bedside manner left her delusional, convinced she was part of a medical experiment. Her distress deepened under Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). The hospital's emotional care was appalling. Communication with next of kin was confusing and uncaring. Even after being cleared for discharge, Mum was held unnecessarily for 5 days for a procedure that could have been done as an outpatient. By the end, she believed she would never leave the hospital. Hill Brow stepped in with the persistence, care and expertise the hospital lacked. Thanks to their support, Mum returned to Hill Brow on Christmas Eve, safe and surrounded by kindness. Hill Brow's professionalism, compassion, and adaptability make them exceptional and easy to recommend. They have been a lifeline for my family.
Both my parents have recently moved into Hill Brow Residential Care Home together. Care and attention has been made to help them feel welcome, to settle them into their new environment and to feel safe and valued within the care home community. My mother also suffers from celiac disease and can become very ill very quickly if food is contaminated or offered food that contains gluten. There have been no incidents of this occurring, this is down to the excellent chef and care staff. I also would like to thank all the staff and especially the manager for also helping myself and my family with this huge change. Outstanding!
My mother (96 years old) was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's and we recognised that it was time for her to have 24 hour care. My daughter and I looked at 6 different establishments in the area and Hill Brow Residential Care Home absolutely stood out as the place for her. We definitely made the right decision! I honestly could not imagine a better place for her to enjoy her latter years. The staff are organised, engaged, but most importantly caring, and their interaction with the residents is exemplary. The atmosphere is lovely and homely and there is a wide range of activities in which to participate, should they choose. All the meals are cooked from scratch and are delicious and nutritious. The manager and her assistant keep in regular contact and there are also periodic one-to-one meetings. I would not hesitate to recommend HIll Brow.
When putting my grandma into placement we looked at multiple different residential and nursing homes. Hill Brow Residential Care Home was by far our favourite and since my grandma has moved in has continued to impress us. My grandma loves it, they have a load of activities to join in with and lovely food and drink options. My grandma constantly tells us how safe she feels and how well looked after she is. Thank you to the team for helping her settle in so well and making her feel so safe.
My mum was very resistant to becoming a care home resident. However when eventually, at ninety-seven years old, she agreed to give it a try she loved it. This is totally down to the wonderful ambience at Hill Brow generated by a kind and loving staff. She joined in with most of the activities and although her stay proved to be a relatively short one I was totally happy with the care and attention she received during that time. My whole family would like to thank the staff for looking after her so well.
